Services
Catzablanca Cat Clinic and Hospital was founded by Dr. DuPont in 1990 when the idea of a separate medical and surgical facility just for cats was brand new. After graduation from veterinary college Dr. DuPont practiced emergency medicine as well as general small animal medicine and surgery.

She soon realized that cats were unique creatures and that there was a need to separate their medical and surgical care from the mainstream small animal care, which focused mainly on the dog.Catzablanca was one of the first cat hospitals founded in Connecticut and there were little written guidelines available at that time.
MaryJeanne has been in the veterinary field for over 30 years, 26 of those have been at Catzablanca. She started working as a technician at Catzablanca shortly after it opened. After many years she became the supervisor of the technicians and kennel attendants, then moved into the management position she has today.
Our safe and secure pharmacy partner will bring all of our "in clinic" medications, flea, tick, and heartworm medications right to your door. It will also supply items like dental and grooming products. You will also find all of our Royal Canin Veterinary Diets found in the clinic too, conveniently shipped right to your door!.

I've taken my adopted kitty here for the last 2 years and found out that they really don't care about my kitty girl. I've told them several times about an itch she has that won't go away. Their response was expensive alergie tests that are as much as a car payment ($330). And forcefully shoving a pill down her throat. Additionally they have told me 2x now that a vet Dr will call me I'm regards to her treatment. The first time I waited almost a week before calling and speaking to a supervisor. This time is about the same time and I'm not going to continue to do business w them if they can't do their

Did a great job to help testing and grooming our long haired cat. Adjusted their plan to reduce the risk to our cat and actually charged less than the estimate!! Appreciate what they did greatly!

Dr. Dupont and staff do an excellent job specializing in cats and an awesome job following up on them. They have helped our cats when we really needed the assistance. When you call, a person answers and the doctor and staff communicate with you.

It's great having a vet that specializes in cats. They really care about the animals and have a depth of understanding that many general care vets lack. The staff is very friendly and reassuring to nervous cat parents.

Catzablanca staff are amazing! After a terrible experience with my previous vet, they made sure to get my cat seen quickly and put on her a wellness plan. My cat was literally on the verge of not making it, and Dr. DuPont and the team have helped prolong the life of my sweet cat. I love that this is a cat only clinic. Overall, it reduces stress my cat experiences with vet visits. They are always willing to check with you about the pricing and services and I have found them to be far more affordable than my previous vet, with better service! I cannot recommend them enough.

I have taken both my cats to Catzablanca since 2006, and - up until this point, never have had a bad experience. I truly miss Dr. Braun - he was THE BEST!!! His bed-side manner, and the way he explained things to you - in layman's terms, made the difference.
While their care & concern is still "ok" - I believe this Veterinary Clinic was much much better when Dr. Braun was on staff.

I highly recommend this clinic if you have a cat. I am so surprised about some of the negative comments I have read. Dr. Du Pont is the most caring and dedicated vet I have used. She treats your cat as if it was her own. She spends time explaining everything and giving you options. You never feel rushed when you are there. I have had cats all my life and she was the only one to suggest that my kittens be tested for cat scratch fever. A disease that impacts cats and can impact people too, My cats came back positive and were treated. It is very common but no one ever tested my cats before. She tries

DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!
I brought my healthy 6 month old bengal kitten to get neutered and they call me back hours later telling me he died. No explanation at all, refused to pay for autopsy even though this happened while in their hands. Vet knew of a heart murmur for months before hand, but convinced me nothing was wrong with his heart. Then, after I am sobbing over my dead baby kitten they have the nerve to give me the option to pick up my cat in a shoe box and drive him to ucconn to get an autopsy myself or RECOMMENED that i pay about a $100-200 fee to have their service company pick him up

Today was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a vet.
When I was a seventeen year old kid, I was on track to be a high school dropout living with friends without purpose or direction until a tiny kitten came into my life who I named, Francois. I bottle fed and cared for him from the day he was born. The one thing that gave me focus and purpose was my kitten. I fought like hell to get us both out of a house that was flea infested and filthy. I laid him in my lap every day and cried picking fleas off of him and promising him a better life for both of us. When my father and step-mother

DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!

While the technicians were kind, both veterinarians were rude and condescending. It was obvious they were "upselling", trying to add tests and procedures to drive up the cost of the visit. They told me they needed to "admit" my cat overnight. I asked why. "For nursing care". Guess what? I'm a nurse! I asked what specific care would be delivered and who would deliver it overnight. None. And, no one. Because, they have NO. ONE. THERE. OVERNIGHT. So, the cats sit in small cages, alone, overnight, stressed out. I said I'd take my cat

Please read this before you bring your pet to this place ! I brought my cat in for not eating for over 5 days. They said from her x Ray she needs surgery for internal issues . I paid $4000 for blood work, surgery, and 3 day stay. After surgery they told me my cat won't make it because they think she has kidney issues. I told them that the blood work should have shown that prior to the surgery. I found out they never did the blood work and if they did we would have known that she had kidney issues. They skipped a procedure I not only paid for but that was mandatory. Not only is my baby cat

I went there yesterday to have my cats matted hair shaved off. I had to leave her there and after I left, they do a "medical" exam. They said my cat was breathing heavy and had a fast heart rate. (her breathing is never like that at home) They let her sit awhile longer and she was still like that. They were really concerned that she sounded funny when they listened to her lungs. I agreed to an x-ray to which they said she had fluid in her lungs and that may mean heart problems. They wanted to board her for 2 nights until their ultrasound guy got there. I refused to board her and they

I have been going to Catzablanca for over three years now. Prior to that I was going to a Cat/Dog vet and my cat was miserable. My cat is fairly difficult and I have to say that Catzablanca has been wonderful. My cat is 11 and has a few issues over the years and the doctors have been patient and understanding. As for the office technicians and girls up at the front desk, I can not say enough! They have been pleasant, courteous and extremely understanding when I was stressed out about my cat not feeling well. I would never take my cat anywhere else.

Reviewing Catzablanca based on boarding / kenneling. We have been using another vet for health issues and see no reason to change.

First, make sure you have the address right...They recently moved to another stand alone building on Silas Deane and are now very close to a Puritan Furniture store. You can also see a McDonalds a few buildings south. If you are in a strip mall, you've gone to the wrong place!

Overall, very pleased with our experience at Catzablanca. They will walk you through the facility to show you were your cat will be kept and it is all very clean. Unlike boarding our

I have been a client of Catzablanca's for about 3 years and this is my first review. My latest visit was for my cat Eli. When brushing his teeth, I noticed some gum bleeding and his breath was BAD! I immediately called Catzablanca to get Eli seen by Dr. Peter Braun. Dr. Braun confirmed that there were infected teeth and he needed a dental procedure. The staff scheduled an appointment within a day of this particular visit. I always get nervous when my animals are having any procedure and in particular because a dental requires anesthesia. Needless to say, I had nothing to worry about

We brought our 13 year old cat in and were told that the fluid in his stomach definitely indicated something terminal whether it was cancer or FIP. My daughter was inconsolable while we waited for the results of the lab work results for his stomach fluid. Turns out there was nothing abnormal about the fluid and that they THEN? took his blood pressure. We were told he wasn't going to die after all and that yes, high blood pressure could cause vessels to "leak" into his stomach. Why wasn't that considered first? Why was I told it had NO other possible outcome than death?

This place is horrible. STAY AWAY!

My friend had her parents bring her two long haired cats here for just a grooming. They had gone for groomings before to other places, and have had no problems.

This is the bull crap that happened:

Her parents had to wait 15 minutes to drop the two cats off because the desk clerk was chit chatting about her personal life with another customer. RUDE

Then after dropping them off her parents received a phone call that another cat was disturbing them from getting their grooming done and they asked to sedate them. Her parents blindly said yes, not knowing why they

My review is less favorable than that of the prior reviewer.

I boarded my cat with Catzablanca while my family took a vacation out of state because he required daily insulin injections for diabetes. The staff (vets and techs) was entirely unfamiliar with the use of an insulin PEN rather than a syringe, despite the fact that this particular medication is often used in cats as well as humans. A quick lesson in attaching the needle to the pen and dialing up the dose of medication was all they needed though. Upon check-in I was also hit with a whole list of "up-sell" attempts (a flu vaccine

Although this story does not have a happy ending, 5 stars are absolutely in order for the staff at Catzablanca. Dr. Braun is, hands down, the most professional, personable and empathic vet I have met in my many years of pet ownership. After getting nowhere with little, if any, help from the vet I have been using for a number of years (a scathing review of their utter LACK of effort will be reviewed separately) I took my 12 y.o. domestic medium-hair, Gracie, to Catzablanca on 11/18/10.

Unfortunately, her condition was beyond critical and she was ultimately diagnosed with FIP, an incurable condition
