As a present to her husband, Laura had Piper's DNA done. The results of the DNA test were Great Pyrenees, Mastiff, German Shepard, and mixed breed. The results made a lot of sense, and now Laura understands why Piper did not like to swim or retrieve! Our veterinarians at the Animal Hospital of Rocky Hill suggest DNA testing to pet owners who do not know the lineage of their dog.
The practice of veterinary surgery has come a long way in terms of its efficiency, safety, and overall success. One of the many reasons for these advancements is the use of the surgical laser. Operated in a non-contact fashion, the CO2 surgical laser is ideal for most soft tissue procedures. The tip of the instrument, which omits a laser wavelength that is highly absorbed by tissue, is held close to but never touches the intended surface.
When it comes to the health of a pet, dental care is sometimes neglected. This is a big mistake because, like humans, the vitality of your dog or cat highly depends and his or her dental health.

According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have periodontal disease by the age of 3. The problem with this statistic is that gum disease can lead to many other medical issues, which can potentially shorten the life of a pet. When your pet's dental health is continually ignored, severe symptoms and conditions begin to occur.

The Vets here are amazing, very nice personable people. Each time I bring my dog in they are so friendly and always make sure all of my questions are answered to my understanding. The Vets themselves are the only reason I continue to bring my dog here. The staff on the other hand is another story, most of them I have felt with are very rude and maybe they are just always stressed and having a bad day but I always sense unnecessary attitude from the staff over the phone.other than that I love thisnplace. Just wish they would hire new staff.

I’ve taken my dogs here since they were puppies and their service has gotten increasingly bad, to the point where their manager treated us horribly last time we came here. They don’t genuinely care for your pet and just horrible customer service altogether. This was the last time with them, will be taking my dogs to a more diligent vet where they actually care.

My experience with AHRH has been great. All the doctors my pets have seen at this vet have been very attentive, knowledgeable and have always made my pets feel comfortable, especially recently with how I'm not able to be inside with them because of Covid. Their communication on the phone at appointments has been great. Although, leaving my pets inside makes me uneasy at times, I know they're in great hands and the vet/staff are trying their best to keep themselves and others safe. Best vet around!

Haviar did all those pit-bulls New Year’s day that needed care. Was in the news. Who else would commit to this holiday in that weather? We are proud to call Haviar and his family / co workers our family lifetime vet.

I brought my dog in, they said everything was okay just a little anti-inflammatory medication and all would be well. I called the following day, stated something wasn’t right and was told the vet would call. I spoke to the vet and they said “she needs surgery” and they sent an estimate. Mind you they never did any X-rays. The following week, I brought her back, they said it was the left leg not the right and we went back and forth they brought her back in and said the right was worse than the left but continue the anti-inflammatory she just needed to lose weight and again no imaging was taken

Just your typical vet that’s out for your money and no genuine care for addressing your pet(s) needs... was informed that my dog would get refill on a allergy med prescription but now they want to charge for animal visit. Allergy is allergy, not much will change by a “visit”... when all they will do is just to give the same medicine over and over. You’d think businesses would be more mindful with how things are going this year... but shows a lot... you lost a customer for that!

I began taking my dogs to RH Animal Hospital several years ago when it was an ER facility. I had 2 Lab/Great Dane mix females about 10 years old at the time. I wanted to establish with a vet that had ER services. RH stopped being an ER facility about a year ago.
Both my dogs had a chronic digestive issue that occassionally warranted a trip to the vet. And each dog had to be kept in-patient during the time they were treated there. All 3 Haviar Drs treated them, along with 2 other vets that work(ed) there. I felt like the care they received was fine, until recently.

I became a client of AHRH about 8 years ago when I had to use their emergency hospital in the middle of the night for my cat, Max, who had kidney stones. My husband was away on business and I had to go through the ordeal alone. Our animals are our children and I was very afraid that I would lose Max that night. Dr. Havier and his staff were so wonderful and literally saved Max's life. He would have died if not for their awesome care. I was so impressed that I immediately changed all my animals over to their facility from my vet at the time even though it was much further away from my home. I have
