Desert Winds High School is a continuation high school in the Antelope Valley serving the needs of a diverse student population in an alternative education environment. This school provides an alternative program for young people to continue their high school education. Services
Desert Winds High School offers a smaller classroom setting allowing teachers the ability to offer the individual attention students need as they progress toward graduation. All students at Desert Winds High School are welcomed and introduced to new opportunities and approaches to an educationally sound curriculum.
Desert Winds High School's mission is to encourage the development of well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals who are engaged and willing to persevere in all efforts to achieve their full potential. We will do this by providing a welcoming, safe, and supportive learning environment where everyone is equal, and all achievements are celebrated.
A similar requirement is also contained in the federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals.
We want our community to be aware of our continued commitment to safety which includes multiple, proactive approaches to fortifying security throughout our school. In addition to safety enhancements across the District (see below), at Desert Winds High School we utilize an electronic entry system.
We are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all our students and employees. We are focused on teaching strategies for violence prevention and have high expectations for student conduct, responsible behavior and respect for others. Each school safety plan is reviewed by the Board of Trustees and District leadership.

The counselor (and many other faculty) will always lie to students about the AM/PM sessions being full, if you're going to graduate or not, if a class is full, REPEATEDLY says "You can't switch classes" (even though my first year attending DWHS I swtiched classes weekly and was racking up many credits) but still acts nice about everything, keeping you oblivious to
