Kathryn has many years of experience in teaching both environmental education and Montessori preschool. At Green Friends Montessori School, Kathryn is passionate about combining authentic Montessori education with an experiential, nature-based curriculum. Green Friends has been a breath of fresh air and a wonderful experience for all of us involved.
We were somewhat aware of the Montessori approach and have been so thrilled with the progress, friendships, and confidence that it has afforded my child. We truly could not be happier, and we are so grateful for all of the teachers, staff, and friends we've made! Services
Green Friends Montessori School is a secular organization and does not promote any specific religious beliefs. Diverse religious beliefs of students and families are respected, as well as the spirituality of the individual child, in keeping with Montessori principles. Green Friends Montessori School is located in a renovated single-story house on the property of MA Center Chicago.

An absolute hidden gem! My son adores school and wants to go on the weekend! The teachers are gifted and individualize instruction based on student’s interests. I love the nature and science emphasis as well. I cannot say enough positive things about Green Friends. My only complaint is that they don’t go through high school! I know my son will never want to leave. He’s made great friendships and learned concepts in early grade school I remember being taught in high school. Run, don’t walk, to register your kids for Green Friends. It’s an amazing community.

We sent our 5-year old twin boys to Green Friends Montessori for one year. My only regret is that I wish we had found them sooner! It was so refreshing to send my children to an environment that is truly benefiting them and helping them blossom. GFMS has everything that we envisioned: a caring and highly trained staff, ample, meaningful time outside and the focus on autonomy that originally drew us to Montessori. When I started searching for preschool options for my son, I was not a big fan of what I was coming across. Until I found Green Friends!! I have always enjoyed the idea and practice of the Montessori program, but to add the element of nature and simply being outside sold me! My son has spent his first year of preschool with Green Friends, and from the first day he has truly enjoyed the wonderful teachers, independent work style and making great friends along the way. I would recommend this school to everyone and will be enrolling my young daughter once she is old enough!
