Kathy Kneale and her son Andrew Kneale opened Harrison's Restaurant in December of 2003. Their goal was to create a restaurant that was a reflection of each of their lives growing up and working in Stowe.
Utilizing Kathy's experience of over 35 years of owning and operating two other restaurants in town, they wanted a place where locals and visitors alike could enjoy comfortable, creative and local food in an environment that was casual yet upscale and unique to Stowe.A place where you could meet old friend and new, have a romantic date night out or just to unwind with a nice glass of wine.

Great ambience and amazing food. Every dish we tried was delicious: crab cakes, fried brussel sprouts, pecan encrusted salmon and steak tips. It's a cosy basement venue with great decor and lighting. It has limited seating so be sure to make a reservation. Or try your luck with bar seating. The bar tender was friendly and a great hostess.

First of all we didn't know what to expect walking in you have to enter around back of a building and then go through two doors and down stairs. We were greeted with the most delicious smell as we walked down into the cozy dining room. Perfect in every way. Cozy. Inviting. Food was amazing. Recommend the mussels. The crab cakes and the filet. Everything was delicious. The service. The hostess and the manager were all super friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are in Stowe and want and intimate cozy dinner with 5 star food and service you need to go here!

I can see why reservations in advance at Harrison's are necessary. It's not a big place, but warm and inviting with the fire going. Service was good and the food came out promptly.
We each started with a Caesar salad that was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. We enjoyed the braised short ribs and chicken piccata. The boneless ribs in that sauce with the mushrooms were excellent. We will definitely return the next time in Stowe.

If you visit Stowe, Harrison's is a must. One of the best meals we had on vacation. Ingredients were fresh, perfectly cooked & seasoned. The beef tips were especially amazing. As a note, it is a small, intimate restaurant which makes it lovely and warm, but also a bit risky during covid especially when the restaurant is full (which I'm sure it always is bc of how good it is!)

Amazing food. So good. I chose the chicken piccata and it was probably the best dish I’ve ever had in my life hands down. Our server was incredibly nice too and we got everything so quickly!
We weren’t sure how to dress but I’d say it is a little on the nicer side. We did see a few people wearing just regular shirts and jeans which didn’t seem out of place or anything. We dressed more on the business casual side but either way would be fine!

Awesome setting/atmosphere and good attention to details.. A very good option. the food is tasty and clearly above average. Everyrhing we tried from the menu tastes good. 5 star missing, because for such a place I would give 5 star if the food was really elevated, refined or just great. Eg. Calamari was good but was not great..deserts tasty but not great/exceptional.

Service was the most outstanding aspect of our patio meal at Harrison's. Stellar, engaging, authentic - made our family feel completely at ease.
The food didn't really sing for me. I opted for steak tips which were oddly dry (they were medium rare but juiceless, as though they weren't rested enough) and featured unnatural grill marks.
It wasn't bad or tasteless, just okay. Nobody else at the table had much to say about their meals, so I'll assert consensus by proxy. Harrison's is a local institution, so perhaps we just hit an off time for the kitchen. With so many

Amazing as always! My husband and I try to snag a reservation at Harrison's every time we visit Stowe. We went on a Wednesday for an early dinner and shared the crab cake appetizer which was so flavorful and cooked to perfection! I had a Caesar salad with shrimp for my entree, and my husband had the steak tips. Both were super tasty! We were seated right away and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Can't wait to visit again!

We sat out on the beautiful patio last night and had the best meal! Our total before tip was $80 for an appetizer, two entrees and two drinks. Every single penny was worth it. The scampi was unbelievably flavorful and my husband said the sauce on his burger was amazing. The best part of the place was our server. She was so kind and did a great job spacing out each course. We went for our anniversary and have decided to begin a new annual tradition here because it was so good!

We were very excited to return to Harrison's Restaurant & Bar. So thrilled to see them survive the pandemic which affected Vermonters deeply, as everyone else.
Tonight every aspect of our dining experience fell in to place perfectly as we remembered. Most ingredients are locally sourced and exquisitely prepared.
Thank you for a lovely delicious memorable evening!
We love Harrison's.

We are here May 28 for dinner. I am not sure what happened, but our meal was nothing like the glowing reviews I read on Yelp. I ordered the bouillabaisse and my husband ordered chicken piccata. Both dishes were surprisingly bland, bland enough that we needed to doctor them up with a fair amount of salt and pepper. Unfortunately, our waiter disappeared for quite a while (he was supposed to be getting my husband a beer, but didn't remember to bring it till we were about to leave), so we couldn't get any salt or pepper. The food was cooked well, just under salted and not particularly flavorful

This was our first time at Stowe and at Harrison's and it did not disappoint. We visited on the last night of our trip, Wednesday night. The restaurant was super cute inside and private booths for seating. We had the crab cake appetizer which was phenomenal, my boyfriend had the Harrison's burger and I had the pecan encrusted salmon. Both were cooked perfectly and absolutely amazing! Our waitress was great and the customer service was outstanding! Definitely make a reservation, there are limited tables. They did a great job with everything especially during Covid.

Great place. Clean and well maintained. Good quality food. Professional and friendly staff. They have non alcoholic beer and tea. Surprised to see that they were located downstairs. All precautions are taken due to COVID. It might not looks very spacious. I recommend calling in advance and making a reservation.

First things first, YOU NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION. I made my reservation a month in advance and some times were already booked.
Arrived at Harrison's last night on time for our reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was lovely. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer. They were DELICIOUS. Cooked perfectly and made with plenty of crab. I ordered the venison and my husband had the scallops. Venison was a perfect medium rare and seasoned beautifully. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the gnocchi was like eating little clouds of pasta. During our stay in Vermont we

Walking into Harrison's Restaurant & Bar I cross-paths with an older man sporting a pearly white mustache. He reminded me of an older Burt Lancaster as he told me to "go with the scallops".
I did not go with the scallops, but I truly wish I had.
Yes, Harrison's is a staple on Stowe's Main Street. Yes, it's a great place to watch families stroll up and down amongst bookstores, hotel fronts, old-timey gift shops and churches. Yes, Harrison's boasts a fabulous wine selection and the key lime pie is a great way to end a perfect summer day.
I highly recommend

Awesome place! Found Harrison's last minute on Christmas Eve and was very fortunate to get a table as they were opening for the evening.
To say the food was good, is an understatement. We each sampled seafood, steak and chicken. Each dish was fresh, right from the chef. Their kids ma and cheese was a bowl of heavenly cheese. All items we ate were absolutely amazing. To top it off, the kids menu items get an ice cream sundae as dessert!
