Services
Dr. Bigler is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship trained in sports medicine and arthroscopy. He has been practicing in Las Vegas since 1991. Dr. Bigler was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and attended Brigham Young University on an academic scholarship. He interrupted his studies and traveled to Taiwan for two years to perform a service mission for his church.
The meniscus is a very important "shock absorber" of the knee. It is a semilunar shaped wedge made of a very strong substance called fibrocartilage. Except for the very most peripheral aspect there is very little blood supply. It serves several important functions. First, it protects the cartilage of the joint from wearing out and causing early arthritis.
When the glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint) has abnormal motion resulting in symptoms or damage, it is said to have instability. Some problems of the shoulder such as impingement or bursitis may actually be the result of instability. Impingement syndrome can range from simple bursitis to a tearing of the rotator cuff.
One of the most commonly injured joints of our body is the ankle. Whether from high-level athletics or simple missteps resulting in a twist or turn, the magnitude of our body weight applied in a forceful manner across the ankle joint can result in a rupture or partial tearing of the important ligaments that stabilize this important weight-bearing joint.
There are many types of arthritis of the hip but they all can result in the damage to and loss of the smooth articular cartilage of the hip joint. The hip is a ball and socket joint and when this cartilage damage begins to occur it can cause very severe pain and disability.

When the cartilage in the hip degenerates to the point at which the bone beneath it is exposed, patients describe a grinding pain resulting from the unprotected bony surfaces rubbing on each other. As a result, our bones respond by growing large bone spurs that can cause pain as well as significantly reduce range of motion.

The Knee & Shoulder Institute has gone downhill over the past couple of years. Extremely poor follow-up after MRI took numerous calls to get appt scheduled and when it was finally scheduled for the next Monday I get to the Office and they tell me its the next Monday. The follow-up appt to receive a lubrication shot in my shoulder has no gone into the 5 week waiting and I have call 2 different times and they tell me they are waiting for approve from insurance. So I called the insurance company today and find out they have not requested approval yet. NOT GOOD!!!! Dr. Thomas and Bigler need to take

I brought my son in to see Dr. Carr after a recommendation from an acquaintance. The facility is beautiful and conveniently located. All staff members were warm and friendly. We were brought back on time, my son had his x-rays taken immediately, and we did not have to wait at all to see the doctor. He immediately reviewed the x-rays and was very thorough with his exam and very friendly as well. Outstanding experience. Highly recommend.

Left knee went fine. Right knee not so much. Dr. Thomas refused to look at the MRI images and D.O. Puopolo refused to take a second look at the MRI. Seems like they’re just after your money and I would go somewhere else.

As active duty military for 24 years, I was an avid runner. After retiring and about 8 years later, I began to have serious knee pain and swelling of my entire leg. I went to the VA, but they kept making me wait. After a year of waiting with this excruciating pain I needed medication for, I asked for a referral to a local doctor. That’s how I ended up at the K&S Institute. Within 30 days Dr. Bigler performed a miracle. He cleaned up two massive meniscus tears, slipped knee cap, beginnings of arthritis, cleaned out some bone fragments, and repaired a muscle that had pulled away from the bone.

No, no, and no after today’s visit wherein Dr. Thomas was highly condescending, I would not recommend him. Yes, I need surgery for a meniscus tear, however, I am not ready to proceed because of family obligations. I have two kids, I do it alone, so until summer break when I don’t have to be on the go constantly, I’m waiting. All I needed today was a handicapped application signed, which wouldn’t be approved by his office without an appointment, an appointment that I scheduled for 10:45 and exited at noon. Dr. Thomas proceeded to tell me the DMV may deny my application because I have a fixable

Some hiccups with scheduling but still I'm giving 5 stars. Prior to 2019 had insurance that used SWMA. During 3 years SWMA diagnosis was I had arthritis so SWMA procedures were to give me cortisone shots. I stayed in pain & knew old injury was more than arthritis. 2019 changed to Humana using Heath Care Partners network. My primary Dr. Hou referred me to the Knee & Shoulder Institute. Dr. Thomas helped me with fixing an old injury that SWMA didn't THRU 3 years of their cortisone shots & telling me I had arthritis when actually I had tear in rotator cuff, bone spur, & damage of Labrum. Once I heal

This is without a doubt the worse experience I’ve ever had with any medical physician. Both customer service and doctor are just as bad .Visited the emergency room due to knee pain prior to visiting with doctor Thomas because he couldn’t get me in any sooner . Finally when he did get me in I waited for about an hour just for him to advise me not to run or jump (when I couldn’t even walk). A week later Less then an hour prior to my appointment I find out he needs to push it out a week .Meanwhile I am in crutches due to inflammation in my knee and can barely walk . I called around and got much

Dr. Bigler is awesome. He takes his time to exam and explain everything. He reviews options and in my case recommended physical therapy over surgery. Not only saving me downtime but also a huge copay. Thanks from the bottom of my heart
