Actinic Keratoses are thought to affect 58 million people in the US. That is a staggering number. Up to 10% of these lesions may become skin cancers. Most commonly they become squamous cell skin cancers, but occasionally they may become a basal cell skin cancer. It is for this reason that dermatologist recommend treatment of these lesions.
Sun damage can be cause immediate effects such as sunburn (UVB rays) but can also cause damage which may not be immediately evident (UVA rays) wrinkles, age spots, broken capillaries, milia, and skin cancers. Even 1 sunburn or 1 time using a tanning bed can dramatically increase a person's risk of developing skin cancer.
Imiquimod (Aldara, Zyclara) is an immune response modifier. It was originally designed to treat genital warts. Currently it is indicated for warts, actinic keratoses (AKs) and superficial basal cell skin cancers. It causes the production of anti-cancer cytokines in your body, including interferon alpha, Interleukin 6 and tumor necrosis factor alpha.
Liquid nitrogen is cold, liquefied gas with a temperature of 196 degrees below Celsius (-321 degrees Fahrenheit). It is used to freeze and destroy superficial lesions and growths such as warts, keratoses, and sunspots. Following a liquid nitrogen treatment, you will notice that your skin will become red and irritated.

My daughter has down syndrome and since my wife's passing I have taken over medical issues. I was surprised at how un profession Adriene Rencic is. I called twice and they never returned my call. I know we used to take my daughter to Dr. Rencic but maybe she is no longer a patient because of a time since visit rule. Who knows ?

I recently brought my daughter back to see Dr. Rencic after not having been there for about six years. Unlike other practices who don't consider you a patient anymore after three years, Dr. Rencic still had my daughter's information in the system. Just like our previous visit with her, Dr. Rencic and her staff were very warm and welcoming, and full of helpful information about how to treat my daughter's skin problems. Also unlike other dermatologists, we didn't have to wait 3 months or more to get an appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Rencic. You won't be disappointed

Dr Renicic is the best dermatologist I've been to! Even though she's located a little further from my home than I'd like to go, she's so good the drive is worth it. At this point, I only have to go for my yearly skin cancer screening. She very thorough and personable. She was recommended to me by my husband, and since then my mom and mother in law see her too. Typically I'm seen within fifteen minutes of my scheduled appointment time, but today's visit we are going on 20 minutes behind so far...

Waited over 6 months for an appointment w/this 'doctor.' Had some serious skin concerns and waited 15 mins. on 'table' for her to check me. She took all of 2 mins. w/me, hardly even looking at the moles I was trying to show her, saying 'they're okay...they're okay...See you next year!' and left the room. Credentials may be good but she is uncaring and in a hurry $$$$$$$$$ focused. Sad.
