I have worked with local bands of Southern California Indigenous Americans, first in the capacity of an MSW intern, and then, after receiving my Master in Social Work from San Diego State University 1999. I have struggled, off and on, for much of my life, with weight and associated health issues. I have tried nearly every diet known to man, and some, rather unorthodox.
I am familiar with Weight Watchers. New clients may be surprised to find out that therapy can be very different depending on who exactly the client is, i.e., an individual, a couple, or a family. Individual Therapy is, by far, the most common. I understand that starting the therapeutic process can be a daunting prospect and I applaud you for taking this first step.

Services
I am a product of the Midwest, having been born and raised in Kansas. I spent the first 26 years of my life in the same small college town, finally venturing to the West Coast. I ultimately settled in San Diego, California in the mid-1980s.
Both my parents were transplants from the East Coast, so I spent every summer back in Pennsylvania, with extended family, and grew to appreciate the history of those early Americans, as both my father and mother could trace their genealogy back to the Revolutionary War, and even earlier.

I have worked with local bands of Southern California Indigenous Americans, first in the capacity of an MSW intern, and then, after receiving my Master in Social Work from San Diego State University 1999, as a social worker for Child Protective Services with the County of San Diego. Additionally, I, myself, have Indigenous American heritage.
I have struggled, off and on, for much of my life, with weight and associated health issues. I have tried nearly every diet known to man, and some, rather unorthodox. I am familiar with Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig, Opti-Fast, and, finally, weight loss surgery, most specifically, gastric bypass surgery.
New clients may be surprised to find out that therapy can be very different depending on who exactly the client is, i.e., an individual, a couple. Working with a therapist, individually, is, by far, the most common form of counseling, with a relationship that is developed and nurtured between the therapist and the client.
Copies of these forms are kept at my office, if you do not have access to a computer or a printer. Also, please understand that there may be other documentation required on a case-by-case basis. I accept all major credit cards, checks, Venmo (preferred method in this time of online therapy) and, of course, cash.

As a therapist myself, I was intrigued by the use of EMDR. Being a parent of a tween, my buttons are getting pushed on a regular basis and my frustration was increasing. My triggers were getting the way of doing what I know is best for my child.
Leslie's style is supportive, encouraging and non-judgmental, which was instrumental feeling safe during the process. I was able to be vulnerable and honest about what was getting to me and as a team we identified specific challenges to address.
I'm thrilled with how effective of a parent I can be now that I have turned the volume down on my unhelpful
