Services
Urban AdvenTours is a unique, eco-friendly company, offering bike tours, rentals, and sales out of Boston's Historic North End. We've come a long way since our founder, Andrew Prescott, started running bike tours out of his apartment in 2004. Since then, we've expanded by way of partnering with other local bike shops and spreading the word.
When riding your bike, you want a few simple things. Comfort, function, and control are at the top of the list, so we built the Dew Plus with all three in mind. You have places to go, people to see, and fitness goals to achieve. We get it-life moves pretty fast, so it's a good thing we made Sirrus to help you with all of it.
The SCOTT Scale RC 400 is our truly functional and capable do-it-all 24 bike for those youngsters who like a race inspired style. When we made the Honzo, we knew this would be a bike people would want to ride forever. Since we all grow out of kids' bikes, we figured we'd make a kids' Honzo that was as cool as the version their parents ride.
Light, performant, and just as capable at its World Tour sibling, the Addict eRIDE is a revelation for the way we look at cycling. The Rove LTD is back and better than ever. This gorgeous Butted Cromoly frame features a tapered headtube and our Rove Verso Full Carbon flat mount disc fork with the ability to carry a host of gear.
All barn-burner and no benchwarmer, the Rockhopper Sport throws out the playbook when it comes to putting performance points on the board while playing some serious defense on behalf of your wallet. Often imitated, but never duplicated, the Honzo is a part of Kona's foundation. The Honzo gets a geo update that slackens the headtube to 67 degrees and steepens the seat tube angle.

This "service manager" takes breaks between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm which is totally understandable. But it's not updated on google maps. So I did that for them. He comes out of his break at 3:15 to tell me they can just refuse to take in bikes for safety concerns. I had my specialized mtb derailleur tuned the week before and the chain was still slipping. Had to adjust it myself. It's a good location for rental and the E bikes are good. Customer service is generally good. But some workers not hobbyists make the experience horrible.

Sliced my front tire open crossing the Charlestown Bridge and was lucky enough to realize it within 100 yards of this store (I'd passed it many times on rides, but no prior experiences as a customer). What a stroke of luck. The person who answered the doorbell was happy to quickly dive into what I thought was just a punctured tube. When it turned out to be worse damage they came back to the front several times to show me the damage, and my replacement options. Really appreciate the time they took with a job that turned out to be greater than anticipated; the person who helped me was kind and patient

Made an appt a couple of days ago to get my bike packed and shipped. They ask for your name, email, and number when you reserve an appt. Has a comment section on there so I let them know I was coming to get that service done. I bike it an hour here only hear they've stopped the service due to the basement flooding, 3 days ago. A courtesy phone call would have been great. That's all. Waste of time.

The Boston City Bike tour was so wonderful, much more than we expected.
I was nervous at first because it had been more than 10 years since I was last biking. But the staff was so patient in picking the right bike for me and gave me a quick refresh instruction and time to test rides.
It took me less than 5 minutes to feel comfortable and at ease. I enjoyed riding 12 miles with the group without any issues.
The tour took us through many beautiful bike routes and stop at many historical places and major landmarks. It saved us so much time in a very pleasant way.

Fantastic bike tour through Boston. Guides were excellent, knowledgeable and fun. Ride was not hard and the bikes were terrific. The tour took us through the city showing us not only the main tourist sites but neighborhoods that you might not get to see if you were just walking around. Definitely recommend this tour.

I booked e-bikes in advance of our trip to Boston which, in hindsight, was a mistake since you can't predict the weather that far in advance. The day before our planned rental, we saw that the weather was "all day rain". We didn't want to bike the streets of Boston in the rain, both for comfort and safety reasons, so I called to ask to reschedule for the following (our last day in Boston). They wanted $40 ($20 per rental) to change it, on top of the $110 we paid for the two rentals. Of course, no guarantee it wouldn't rain again, then we would be out $151, so we bailed on the whole thing. Enjoy

We had a wonderful bike tour experience from start to finish. They were friendly, attentive and informative. We had a large group but were accompanied by 4 staff members, each of which provided a unique perspective to our tour. This is a GREAT way for first timers to see the city. Highly recommend.

I recently went on Boston's bike tour with Lee and MIke as our guides. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The website made it easy to schedule our tour and even allows for cancellation up to 48 prior to the tour. I had to adjust our reservation the week before and was able to change the group size from 4 to 3 easily. The ride is about 10 miles, but broken up by stop and explanations from the guides. I believe we had 10 stops. The bikes were comfortable and easy to ride and had water bottle holders as well as a small bag on the front for small items. Lee and Mike took photos for

Not sure why this place gets such good reviews. The guides are nice and try their best but the ride is not all that exciting and the shop owner is rude and a misogynist. I loved everything about Boston except for this bike ride. There is absolutely no excuse to treat employees and customers the way that he does.

Absolutely great experience!
I had a friend in town for the weekend and we needed a rental for a long road ride planned. Team was helpful in the booking process, reviewing their options thoroughly and doing fittings when we arrived. My friend brought his own pedals and they switched them out without any issues. Bike came with safety kit for tires and a free water bottle.
Finding rentals isn’t easy and they made going into Boston, near busy tourist spot and challenging parking totally worth it.
On the parking side, I easily found spots around the block nearby. We could have double parked for

We visited Boston many times prior. This time we decided to see Boson on two wheels. We called and the friendly staff set us up for an afternoon tour. The bike and helmet fitting process was efficient, had a brief safety meeting, and off we went guided by Gary and Bob. We learned and saw more aspects of Boston in 2.5 hours than we did the entire weekend on foot. Seeing the city on cycling pace was ideal, not too fast and not too slow.
Bob and Gary were perfect guides, kept the group safe and well informed on the history of sites we visited. The bikes were also very easy and comfortable to ride

My family of 8 rented four tandem bikes. The staff was very friendly and patient with us while they helped us adjust our helmets and bike seats. We had never ridden tandem bikes before and it was very fun. The area near the store has good biking lanes. We were able to go along the Charles river and back in a two hour window. It was a fun new experience.

I've been coming to this bike shop for 2 years. I've gotten 2 tune-ups, a flat tire replaced, and bought a saddle. Staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about bikes. If you ask for help, the staff members will give their honest recommendation and help you make the best purchase for you. I've also never had to wait to be helped by the staff. Bike repairs are quick, and always done perfectly. The staff will treat your bike like its their own. Location is very convenient, right across from Christopher Columbus Park in the North End.
Urban Cycles is everything I'd want from a bike

Went in after a bike crash to try and piece together my headset and make sure my bike was rideable again. I got a very high quote for replacement parts and labor that was more than the bike cost itself. I spoke to the repair shop guy but he was pretty set on the cost. Took my bike to another shop and repair/parts were priced for less than HALF of urban cycles' quote. Even the new shop was baffled by the old quote. Bike came out in tip-top shape.

I'd consider going back for standard tune up or popped tire swap if it was convenient, but I was pretty upset by the overpriced repair they

I had a great first experience with Urban Cycles this afternoon! Sadly I got a flat yesterday and wheeled my bike to the shop. I was very impressed with how seriously they took social distancing. All employees were wearing masks. Despite the masks, I was cheerily greeted and one of the employees immediately recognized that my tire and valve needed replacing. He kindly quoted me ~$65.00 for both the tire and repair, which I thought was a very fair price for the products and labor. 10 minutes later, I had a brand-new tire. He inflated both of my tires and even kindly raised my handlebars for me.

Amazing service! Great group of guys! They are all so friendly and helpful! This place is a little further from me, but definitely worth taking the extra mile to see them!
Also, they were all wearing masks and made sure everyone was following social distancing guidelines.
Definitely go here for all bike stuff!

Bought a $2000 mountain bike from them and the second I took it off the lot the chain snapped.. they then charged me 60 dollars to replace it. When I got the bike back with a new chain, the gear shifter was broken and they tried to charge me for that as well.

The bike is a total lemon and I tried to return it because the bike I got is not the bike I expected to get and they refused even though I had only ridden it one time for a total of 3 miles (the ride when the chain broke).

I feel totally ripped off on the bike I bought. Love to support the local bike shop but I'm pretty disappointed

First I'd like to point out that I'm a total newbie when it comes to bicycles; I bought a new mountain bike for a few hundred dollars, and figured this would be good enough for a quick exercise around the city. I'm not planning on competitive cycling or doing 50 mile excursions anytime soon, so I assumed it was more than enough for its purpose.

I decided that I needed help with the brake adjustments to make the bike fully functional, so I took it to Urban Cycles. Apparently something was installed

Don't bother with this shop. It's really unfortunate they have a monopoly on bike shops in North Boston and they definitely know it and it shows. Let me paint you a picture... My wife took a spill about a week and a half ago and her handlebars got out alignment. Bleeding from a cut in her chin (which eventually needed 5 stitches) she walked her bike to this shop on her way to the ER. She dropped of the bike, asked if they could fix the handlebars and she would be back after work. She filled out a paper with contact info and checked the box that essentially said "do not do any work

Customers beware this bike shop is horrible. The workers are always on the phone texting instead of acknowledging the customers. When you finally get their attention they are rude, racist & sexiest. They only want to work on white men bikes. I actually heard a worker say that while I was in the store. I'm not telling you what I heard I'm telling you what I've witnessed with my own eyes. They nickel & dime you for everything & when their finish with your bike they up the prices & don't offer an explanation why.
