As with humans, good oral hygiene and dental care is just as important to address with your dog or cat. During your pet's annual Wellness Exam, your veterinarian will carefully evaluate the condition of your pet's mouth, teeth and gums.
Signs of disease or injury can cause your pet to chew on just one side of his or her mouth so looking for any pronounced build-up of plaque and tarter greater on one side of the mouth can indicate signs of abnormal chewing patterns.In some cases, the oral exam can be limited by tolerance levels, yet generally a treatment plan can be recommended after examination to ensure that proper oral health is maintained.

At North River Animal Hospital, we have a fully-equipped surgical suite where the expertise of our well-trained veterinary team will compassionately care for and comfort your pet if surgical intervention is necessary. All of our surgical candidates are first carefully screened during an examination by one of our doctors.
In the world today, there are very few things that bring us joy like our pets. Unfortunately, like with humans, emergencies happen with our pets as well. When pets display irregular symptoms like continued vomiting and diarrhea after eating something they shouldn't have (like a toy or piece of clothing) or if a sudden episode of weakness and collapse occurs, pet owners have good reason to be concerned.

Dr. Lewis has been wonderful with my epileptic dog. She takes the time to understand the situation and has been very responsive to phone calls as we determine the right medicine dosage. It’s nice to find someone who really cares about the animals and families and not just business. Thank you!

Dr.Terry Clekis is the only vet I’ve had total confidence in since our vet of 30 years in Atlanta. He’s the most thorough, caring, gentle, and personable vet in this entire area- no wonder people WAIT until they find out he’s working a day or two now and then and beg to get on his schedule. Retirement is great for him(!!!) but there are those of us who know that no one else can measure up to him!

I was seen quickly, they were accurate with my appointment time. Both the tech and vet were both friendly and concerned about my cats well being and treated her gently and lovingly. They answered my questions and made recommendations about her diet. All in all a very good experience.

Our cat had a UTI and needed to be seen right away. The staff there suggested a drop off instead of appointment in order for them to exam our cat and figure out a treatment plan as soon as possible. To my surprise, they asked if it was ok to see here now and if I could stay few extra minutes. They were able to take care of Lucy on the spot and sent us on our way. Amazing job and care at North River!

It pains me to write this review since my prior 3 visits with our puppy have been great. When we arrived there was a an aggressive dog that was muzzled in the waiting room so I decided to keep the puppy outside as we were 30 minutes early. 2 ladies came outside and I came to learn one of them as Sarah (technician). The experience so far has been I accompany my dog to the room for vaccination. However this was different she said she would take him it was just a shot and I couldn’t go. She proceed to drag my dog against his will on his leash for almost 5 minutes before picking him up. He’s currently

Best Vet around! We started coming here a few years ago after we wanted a second opinion from another local office that didn’t solve the stomach problem for our older cat. Dr. Lewis is amazing- especially with cats! She and the staff are patient, caring, and knowledgeable. Office is clean and they don’t charge excessively for unnecessary procedures! You won’t be disappointed to take your fur babies here!
