My mom and I are excited to introduce the Indian and Mediterranean inspired 7 Monk's Cafe. Our Cafe is inspired by the culinary experiences from our stays and travels in Asia, Europe, Mediterranean Coast and the US! Our Indian menu is driven from our roots - growing up in India amongst the flavors and aromas of spices, bazaars and cuisines.

Perfectly cooked basmati rice, layered with your choice of protein & topped with gravy- a dish fit for royalty! Served with house made raita - an Indian yogurt dip. My husband and I really love Indian food so we were really excited to try this out. We both got the tikka masala curry and we were both quite disappointed. we got medium hot and was not very spicy at all and was lacking a lot of flavor. The curry was runny and pretty overpriced for what you get. Definitely not an authentic curry

I was excited to visit this restaurant as it was recommended by another restaurant owner in the same culinary.
Ordered 2 dinners, both chicken shawarma platters.
We received 2 chicken salad bowls. When I brought the mistake up to an employee, the one who took my phone order. Instead of correcting the order, she insisted I ordered it incorrectly when I told them I was missing the bread and rice that was included in the platter.
I would have paint the extra to get what I wanted to eat for dinner, but again employee insisted I ordered it incorrectly.
Also asked for sauces that were not included

This place has the best Indian and mediterranean food in town, and some of the best food in town overall! Me and my coworkers are regulars here and the staff is always super awesome and accommodating. The kitchen and dining area is always clean. My favorite curry is butter masala with lamb and my favorite mediterranean is the beef shawarma bowl with lettuce. Yum!

Warning: I just want to give people a heads up we were charged over 12 dollars for 3 CANS of soda. That’s over 4 dollars per CAN of soda. That kind of markup just feels like you are being taken advantage of. Our curry was very very bland. There was no salt in it at all (maybe it was an off day). We probably would have given it another chance if it wasn’t for the crazy pricing.

I really appreciate the fact that they are very aware of dietary needs. Not by my choice, I can't eat gluten and dairy so finding places to eat can be hard at times. I was excited that they had a broad menu and that they offered Mediterranean and Indian foods as well as sandwiches (probably for those who don't like the other food?) I ordered the green curry dish on the gf menu with lamb (because the chicken is marinated in yogurt) and it was really disappointing. Barely any flavor. The lamb chunks are huge and kind of tough, there was some big chewy chunks of fat left on the lamb.

I really wanted to like the food here but I'm completely disappointed. The Teaka masala meatballs have no bite to them... They are extremely bland and the almonds or a little bit off pudding... They have just a very mushy texture. The Samosa is the only winner out of the bunch. Hopefully will come back and try something else but The meatballs are definitely pretty gross

We ordered chicken biryani, grilled cheese sandwich and veg samosa.
The dish neither looked nor tasted like Biryani.
It may be dry or wet but doesn't come with gravy. And yes it was gravy and not salan. Chicken tasted as if was pre boiled and later add to the gravy and then was mixed with rice. Colored rice were used to garnish. How do I know it was color and not saffron? It was a dark shade of orange and didn't have the taste and aroma of saffron.
Samosa and chutney tasted good.

Looking for vegetarian options in San Marcos isn't easy, and while I'm not a vegetarian our friends are and we decided on 7 Monk's for lunch.
Everything here was so good and fresh! I got the chicken shawarma wrap with hummus and it was perfect - tender pieces of spiced dark and white meat chicken served with a thick creamy tzatziki sauce. The pita was aMAZing: fluffy, chewy, light, and crisped on the outside.

Was our first time visiting 7 Monk's and we were definitely pleased. Although the space itself is small, you can definitely tell that this is as authentic as it gets for the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to menu selections and explanations. Plenty of tables inside and outside to fit your groups.

7 Monks Cafe is AMAZING!! We tried it for the first time tonight and we wish we had tried it sooner! The delivery was quick and the food was fresh and hot ! We had the chicken platter and wraps and they were so tasty and authentic. The hummus was off the chain Delicious, the best we have ever had! The Samosa was light, spicy, and a bite of Heaven! If you haven't been here, don't wait any longer, you are truly missing out!

I'm only giving a three star. Not because my meal wasn't good, because it was. My friend meal was not the same quality as mine. It was our first time here and we chose it because it has a great variety on the menu, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. I had the chicken tikka masala and the Greek style fries. She ordered the falafel appetizer and the beef Shawarma plate. My food was fantastic. The tikka masala was perfectly spiced. I ordered on-line and it was amazingly easy. Then the delivery was like CRAZY fast. It cost a lot, so not sure I want to upsell that much - but if time is money, I'm sure I would have charged more to drive.

We LOVE this place. Not only is the food always on point (my go to is paneer butter masala w extra spice). You can choose your spice level!
I am insanely indecisive so I sent in the note that I wanted between spicy and medium. Not only did they accommodate that, they sent me extra spices in case I needed it spicer!
My husband loves the beef shawarma.
Also- medium spice is a good amount of spice that doesn't question your sanity. Spicy spice will make you ask "who did I think I was when I ordered this?!" Lol it's so good. Great food and phenomenal service
