Services
If there is a phrase that captures the essence of The Leona Group, it is quality schools. In our tuition-free charter schools, everyone works very hard to provide every student with the individualized attention needed to learn, grow and achieve. Each school curriculum is student-centered, with lessons and standards presented in ways that help them thrive and succeed.
The mission of Maya High School is to help all students develop basic skills, understanding and attitudes necessary to become productive citizens. We accomplish this through an integrated approach using curriculum aligned to the Arizona State Standards and relevant instruction. The school serves young people for whom traditional schools have not been effective and predictably will not be in the future.
At Maya High School, we believe all students can perform at high levels given high expectations and support from parents, teachers, school administration and the community. Our staff will model positive behavior by taking responsibility for powerful teaching standards and holding high expectations for all students.
Biology courses are designed to provide information regarding the fundamental concepts of life and life processes. These courses include (but are not restricted to) such topics as cell structure and function, general plant and animal physiology, genetics, and taxonomy. In this course, students will be studying the natural sciences that encompass the properties of the universe we live in.
Maya High School makes available special education and related services to all students. It is the philosophy of The Leona Group and Maya High School that all children can learn, regardless of disability. Our teachers are trained to teach to diverse learning styles and ability levels. Maya High School believes in close collaboration between staff, general education teachers, special education teachers, and parents.

I don't understand where these poor ratings are coming from, but I would have to disagree. My sister had multiple ups and downs at other schools prior to coming here, and this was honestly the best decision. Not only was the staff always friendly and very helpful, but they knew me as soon as I would walk in.
The school is small, and obviously does not offer all the "amenities" a regulated public school would. Even so, it is wonderful to see how much effort they put in to making students feel like its more than a charter school.
The time my sister was there, I was informed on the various sports
