Lil' Cubs is a 12,000 sq foot child care center located in Nevada, IA, which is about 10 minutes east of Ames. Our facility features 10 large classrooms, a spacious eating area, hundreds of fun and educational toys, and has a large outdoor playground and bonus grass lot. We are also right down the road from the Fawcett Family Aquatic Center, Harrington Park, and the public library.
Our shuttle van and dedicated bus stop allow us to transport our Lil' Cubs to and from Central Elementary easily. We also regularly bring in fun guests like petting zoos, magicians, and ice cream trucks! We are licensed to care for up to 192 children, ranging in age from 6 months to 12 years. Services
To ensure the maximum quality care for your child, every employee at Lil' Cubs is first aid and CPR certified, has passed a criminal record check and has no history of sustained child abuse or neglect. They have also met all education credentials, including continued education, and have passed a health assessment.

Both 3 and 4 year old's that attend part time 3 or 4 days a week daycare or full time 5 days a week daycare are automatically enrolled in Lil' Cubs Preschool without any additional charge. This is a savings of $110.00 to $150.00 per month. It's almost like getting a free week of daycare every month!

We absolutely love Lil Cubs and consider ourselves lucky to have found a daycare that cares so genuinely for our child! The teachers are fantastic and keep all of the kids on a good schedule. We are always bringing home new pieces of art and we regularly receive photos of the kids going on walks, playing outside, etc. It brings piece of mind knowing my child is engaged in new activities and is constantly learning/growing. Ms. Amy and Ms. Abby do a wonderful job managing the staff and I would happily and sincerely recommend this daycare to anyone in central Iowa looking for childcare!

We moved to Nevada at the beginning of the summer and our kids were previously attending a center in a surrounding town about 25 minutes away. Ms. Amy worked with us to help transition our kids into her center a few months earlier than originally discussed. The staff welcomed them with open arms and did their best to make them feel like they belonged. Having reliable child care so close to home with staff that really cares for the kids is a blessing.

My kids have only been coming here since April and they have bloomed. My 4 year old is doing amazing and is learning so many new things. My 18 month old is talking more and it is amazing to see him open up and come out of his shell. I love the teachers here and how understanding they are. I am so glad that they are understanding when it comes to my sons food allergies. This has been an amazing place to work as well! I can’t thank them enough

Amy was VERY rude during my interview! Treated me as if I was some disgusting individual because i won't give my daughter shots. I am NOT the first family shes done this too either She! She lies and she discriminates against certain types of children. Amy Illegally discriminates against unvaccinated children and theres been multiple families who have had issues with her regarding this!

Where does one even start? First off this child care goes above and beyond what is expected of any daycare center I have ever been to. I have been a longtime supporter of this center, since the day it has opened. All of my children, two still enrolled, have gone here. I would highly recommend this place to any and every one. Amy does an amazing job to make each family feel welcomed. She and her staff will do whatever it takes to make a child feel safe and as part of their family. There is a great open line of communication with parents, and any and all concerns are met and addressed professionally

I cannot sing their praises high enough. Lil' Cubs has been a blessing to my son and our family. Amy, Abby, and all the teachers have gone above and beyond for us with caring and loving arms. My son was still getting used to a 'school' environment and they patiently worked with us and our son to provide a healthy and loving environment for him to grow and learn. He loves it there so much that he asks if he can go on the weekends! We feel so fortunate that we were smart enough to sign him up early to ensure his spot :) Thank you Lil' Cubs and all of the Angels there that make it what it is :)

I have sent one child from the age of 4 years until he was 8 years of age. I have sent 2 children that are still currently attending from the age of 2 months of age. They genuinely care about our children. One of children has special needs as he has a developmental delay- they asked if they could do a referral for AEA services, and we agreed when he was 9 months. He is now 3 years old. It has been a blessing to help get our now 3 year old on track with where his development should be. Our 1 year old loves everyone there. They do an amazing job caring, fun activities, and I feel the communication

Update: we are 3 years in now and have 3 children enrolled in Lil cubs! All my kids have been through every single class now and my review still stands! Amy and her team go above and beyond to make sure my kids are always taken care of! We love all the staff and I couldn’t be happier to have my kids in this daycare!!!

My son has attended lil' Cubs for almost 3 years now and it has been so great for him! He has learned so much and loves all the teachers. He's a kid that hates me dropping him off in the morning but within a minute from when I leave, he's already happy and enjoying the day. He'll be attending Nevada Elementary next school year for preschool and lil'Cubs handles transportation and making sure everything goes smoothly. So thankful that I found a daycare that I can afford and is so great for my son!!
