Services
Primary eye care includes a comprehensive vision and eye health examination. This examination is designed to detect a wide range of problems affecting vision function, such as blurred vision or eye discomfort. Evaluations for eye health disorders are also performed. The American Optometric Association recommends that all people should have a periodic, comprehensive eye examination every one to two years depending on one's particular needs.
When talking to someone, it is our eyes that we are communicating with. More than our clothes. More than our haircut. More than our shoes. Frame styles matter. It only stands to reason, your glasses are the immediate accessory that everyone sees. Today, many people view their glasses as they do their jewelry.
With Spectacle Lenses, there is a wide range of available features. New technologies has brought us a range in lens power that is virtually unlimited. However, not all available features are right for all of our patients. As such, we provide you with a brief discussion of each of these features so when you visit our office you will have some ideas of what features might work best for you.

Prior to a contact lens examination it is important to have a complete primary vision and eye health examination. Whether it is glasses, contact lenses, lasik surgery or cataract surgery, a thorough eye examination is an important first step.
We provide diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases which affect the human eye and visual system. Dry Eye Syndrome occurs when the normal flow of tears over the eyes is interrupted, or the tear film is abnormal. In many cases, dry eye syndrome is a life long problem. You can relieve the symptoms, but not cure the original cause.

If you are looking for a well-educated and highly skilled Optometrist that truly cares about his patients' vision, Dr. Hawker is one of the few remaining that works independent of the franchise-like chains and ever-growing practices that seem to focus more on marketing, numbers, and profit over what's in their patients overall best interests.
He is HONEST and won't try to encourage a patient to purchase something they don't need.
He has a wonderful display of frames and lenses to choose from should someone desire a single provider for all of their vision needs or wants, but

While the doctor was respectful and gregarious, the woman with whom I interacted on my trip back to the office to see if adjustments could be made was insulting and condescending. She even implied several times that I was wrong when I told her the print size I deal with on my job and how far I sit from my computer...as though I was making it up or mistaken? I'd measured the exact distance because I anticipated this coming up. Just...wow! She also went to great lengths advising me of the difference between a reader and Rx lenses as though I was a young child. I sat there longer than I should

After 20 years of glasses purchased (as well as being prescribed for by their 'independent' optometrists) through a major chain located inside a shopping center, I decided to try D'Sol Optical for my next eye examination based on a referral and location. Best optical decision I've made as examination was complete and when purchasing the glasses absolutely no attempted up sale (ex. for an additional 'x' dollars, we can coat your glasses to eliminate night glare) of any type. Very positive optical experience when contrasted to the prior 20 years on all fronts!
