What inspired you to become a makeup artist? I've always been very creative and very good at artistic things. When I was 17, I entered a contest sponsored by a major cosmetics company in which I wrote an essay on makeup and I won! The company flew me and my mom to Cincinnati, Ohio where they trained me as a makeup artist.
If models and local celebrities look especially well groomed on the covers of South Bay Accent, it's because Rose Hill has worked her magic, applying make-up and fixing hair before photo shoots. Since 1991, she, or a member of her experienced crew, has transformed many faces to bring out their best features.
Do you watch TV and films and wonder how the actors always manage to look so beautiful even while they are scrubbing floors or riding horses in the rain? How do those models always look so flawless? One of the answers is that they have hair and make-up artists on the set constantly making sure they are picture perfect.
As the year (and the millennium, according to some) came to an end, our ace production staff was hard at work. The crew traveled to the exotic location of Gilroy, California where actors Erik Kelli and Diedre Cohen played a husband and wife learning how a web appliance could make life easier. Rose did my hair and makeup for my boyfriends' pro MMA fight in San Jose. It is a big event and I wanted something more glam than I usually have day to say since this was a big event. She did absolutely amazing!! Everyone was in awe of how beautiful I looked. I can't thank her enough for making me look and feel amazing and beautiful that night. Rose and her crew (thanks to Lynn and Dulce) did my hair and makeup as well as my bridal party this weekend. I would recommend to everyone. Rose transformed me from a plain old pumpkin to the Cinderella of my wedding ball. My bridal party looked so beautiful without looking outlandish, just the right balance for a church wedding in the summer.

I loved Rose from the moment we met! She knew exactly what I wanted and nailed it! Rose is hands-down the best there is. She provided wonderful and thoughtful consultation, and from the moment she did my trial in her home studio I knew she would deliver. Rose did hair the makeup . Just finished my hair and makeup wedding trial with Rose. She is amazing! We tried a couple different looks and two sets of lashes. She incorporated the decorative headpiece I brought with me into the hair do. She even completely changed my hair and makeup at the end so I could go to dinner with a look that is different from my wedding look. Rose is amazing. I called her at the last minute because I was going to a party, and told her that I just wanted the minimum - eyeshadow, mascara, and a little blush. She did a complete makeover including foundation, eyebrow shaping and filling, and false eyelashes. I had so many compliments!! I cannot say enough about the beautiful work that she did. Rose is one of the best makeup hair artist in the Bay Area. My first movie "Arranged To Love" was scheduled a red carpet this August by FOG film festival and received an honor of best film award. Rose did complete justice to my makeup and hair and undoubtedly I looked the best. She used best makeup and organic hair products and my makeup lasted for hours looking really photogenic. I highly recommend her to the best.

This woman was completely unprofessional. She was hired to do hair/makeup for a bridal party. The bride had her own stylist which Rose Hill was very offended by, and in fact, made condescending and hurtful remarks to the stylist who was hired by the bride because of her impeccable reputation and the high end salon she works at. Rose Hill's remark, when asked by the photographer (in a friendly manner) if she worked for a salon was a very demeaning "Oh No, I DONT WORK IN A SALON, IM IN TELEVISION".

I hired Rose Hill to do the hair and make up for my wedding. She had really reasonable prices for the bride, but the same as really good make up/hair for the bridesmaids. She did the hair/make up for my engagement photos as well. For the engagement photos I should have realized that she wasn't for me. She would get mad when I would try to suggest or change something. There was a chunk of the eyelash strip going the wrong way and I was trying to fix it and she would scold me and say it looked better or more natural instead of just doing what I want. My curls fell out before the photos were

Very disappointed. I was going to a wedding and rose suggested that we do a mock hair trial at her house before the wedding so we knew exactly what to do. The trial came to $150 & $170 hair extensions she told me I needed. The day of the wedding she was extremely unorganized and ran out of time to do my hair and makeup! One of her assistants had to do my hair literally five minutes before the girls were called for pictures. She was in such a hurry she didn't have time to put in the non refundable hair extensions she told me to buy and had to quickly throw my hair back in a very ugly bun

I really didn't have a choice when it came to my hair and makeup for my future sister-in-law's wedding. The mother of the bride hired Rose Hill and so I went along with it. Rose was extremely nice and friendly. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she did it, and it look better than the picture I showed her. I showed her a picture that another hair and makeup person did for me for another wedding. The bride used a different hair and makeup person who she hired herself, Rose was not in the least bit offended. They both chatted and were sharing tips. She made us feel comfortable

I can't recommend Rose enough for the hair and makeup job she did for my wedding!! Prior to going to Rose, I did a crazy number of hair and makeup trials with a crazy number of different artists... none were anywhere near "me" for the wedding, some down right terrible. Rose on the otherhand got it perfect on the first trial!
Rose has many years of experience that allow her to reproduce exactly the desired result and make it LAST all day despite the fact that it was 90+ for my outdoor wedding. My makeup and hair were perfect ALL day!
