A. In our clinic, the Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Assistants (COTAs) specialize in administering treatment of the hand and upper extremities in order for our patients to regain the ability to perform work, life and activities of daily living (ADLs).
Our Therapists utilize comprehensive knowledge of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder to prevent dysfunction, reverse the progression of disease, and promote healing of injured structures to restore function. It is our goal to plan and execute treatment that will return the patients treated to the highest possible level of independence in their ADLs.

The road to recovery does not have to wait until after your surgery. In fact, two aspects of the surgical experience critical to achieving a successful recovery are pre- and post-operative rehabilitation. Most of us are familiar with a comprehensive post-operative rehabilitation program designed to promote healing, reduce pain and swelling, restore joint mobility, flexibility and strength.
Our outpatient therapy programs for neuromuscular conditions involve re-educating the nervous system for patients based on individual needs. Neuromuscular re-education techniques help patients regain normal, controlled movement patterns. Because the nervous system controls most of what we can do, our programs almost always includes neuromuscular re-education as a part of the overall recovery regimen.
