Good vision should never be taken for granted. Vision problems and eye diseases can occur at almost any time in life. Maintaining optimum ocular health requires regular annual eye exams and taking immediate action if you ever notice changes in your vision. Below are just some of the vision problems and eye diseases that our doctors diagnose or treat every day.
At our practice we aim to keep patients informed of their condition and of all possible treatment options. There are numerous eye conditions that are manageable, and we provide treatment for multiple eye illnesses. Some conditions are age-related, but others can occur at any age - just one more reason why annual eye exams are an integral part of overall ocular wellness.
Nearly half of all men and women suffer from some sort of allergy. Allergies can cause symptoms that affect the skin, sinuses, airways, digestion, and eyes. About 75 percent of people who suffer from allergies have symptoms that affect the eyes. While allergies cannot be completely cured, there are a number of treatments that can help to relieve symptoms.

The wait:
My appt was later in the day but even then, I did not have much of a wait at all. Once the patient in front of me at the registration left, I was immediately greeted by the receptionist and was given a clipboard to fill out my medical history. I was called in even before I finished the first page--pleasantly surprised.
The appt:
The nurse was initially a little distant but quickly warmed up once we started chit-chatting. Initially Dr. Tearse was very to the point and not so much focused on building rapport but that changed as the appt went on. I actually found him to have a great sense

Both doctors are extremely thorough. Everyone in the office is friendly and professional. Very impressed with Dr. Tearse! He spent a lot of time with me explaining the tests we were conducting along with the results. He has a great bedside manner and is easy to speak with. Explains concepts very well. Great visit & experience with both doctors at the clinic!

They have remote and in-office appointments. They are COVID safe: no one in waiting room, air filters in every room, temperature checks with entry, everyone is masked and distanced, each exam room is disinfected and then marked for patients to see. There are max 5 staff members in the office at a time.

Dr. Tearse got my severe dry eye under control and I'm so relieved! My eyes were so bad I was dumping saline in them almost every hour and even cutting onions just to try to cry but nothing worked. To be honest the treatment can be painful but is 1000% worth it! The staff is amazing too! I would recommend Dr. Tearse a million times over.

If you suffer from dry eyes please get an appointment with Dr. Tearse as soon as possible. If I'd known about his practice earlier I could have saved myself years of pain. Dr Tearse does an extremely thorough exam with many tests to determine the extent and cause of your dry eyes. I had a procedure called LipiFlow that unblocked my Meibomian glands which allowed these glands to start flowing again. Prior to this I had gotten to the point where I couldn't function past 2:00 pm because my eyes were so dry and painful. Dr. Tearse also put me on prescription eye drops and put punctal

This review is for the Continuing Education Lecture that Dr. Manik presented in December 2019.
I thought the lecture was wonderful and filled with concise information. It was easy to follow and it was lively. Dr. Manik's lovely and hilarious personality really showed throughout the presentation. I think I was able to learn a few more things about dry eyes and I look forward to applying that.
I also got the pleasure to meet Dr. Tearse himself- thank you for a great event.
PS - the food was amazing!!

I have been going to Dr. Tearse for many years, and I appreciate him beyond words. For a very long time I had a complex and severe dry eye condition that impacted many aspects of my life. When I was finally referred to Dr. Tearse, he proved to be an expert detective in determining all the many facets of my problem. He is one of the few doctors who knows how to treat this condition. Due to his vast knowledge and persistence, my condition has been completely resolved. He is conscientious, thorough and vigilant. He truly cares about his patients. He recently performed glaucoma and cataract surgery

I've had my eyes examined by the optometrist Dr. Manik. She actually did my eye exam after I missed out on having my eyes examined for the past 5-6 years. Dr. Manik is a wonderful optometrist who does a remarkable job with her eye exams. My appointment was an hour long, but it felt as if time went fast since Dr. Manik was very thorough with her examination. She also took the time to educate me about what she saw during my eye exam. I really appreciate when doctors are able to educate me during my visits with them because it helps me understand what I'm experiencing. It also helps me have

Context: I live in San Francisco and work in the Peninsula.
My Care Provider: Dr. Jasdeep Manik.
Office: The office is really centrally located right off the freeway in Redwood City. Tons of parking on the bottom floor and you just have to take the elevator up. This is such a dream as I have a tight schedule during work hours and I'm able to find parking really easily. It's located within the Kelly Paint Building in case you miss it. The office itself is really big compared to what I'm used to and really clean. Super friendly staff.
Care: Dr. Manik has to be hands down the most

I had cataract surgery with Dr. Tearse. I have had terrible eyesight my entire life and now I can see clearly without glasses. The surgery was covered by medicare and my supplemental insurance. Dr. Tearse is an excellent surgeon and the procedure itself took a matter of minutes. I had very little pain or discomfort. I was worried before the surgery, but now I wish I had done it earlier. I would recommend Dr. Tearse to do the surgery.

Dr. Manik is an excellent optometrist! I saw her for my annual eye exam, thinking that I would simply be updating my glasses and contact lens prescriptions. To my surprise, during the dilated portion of the exam, Dr. Manik noticed some changes in my retinas. She took great care in educating me on my condition and recommended that I see an ophthalmologist to get a second opinion. It is clearly evident that Dr. Manik really cares about her patients' well-being, and she places a strong emphasis on patient education, which is arguably one of the most important components of healthcare. After the big fire in Marin last year, the smoke blew south, and aggravated a minor dry eye condition I've had for a couple years now, and I could barely open one eye. I read some other reviews about long waits but for me it was pretty quick. I saw both Dr. Manik and Dr. Tearse for various tests, to have a little splint installed to block one tear duct, to clean out my tear ducts and I got a prescription. That combo pretty much cured the problem almost over night. I was really surprised and relieved. I have to compliment both of them not only for a great diagnosis and treatment, but

Dr. Manik is awesome!!! She detected the beginning stage of wet eye macular degeneration in my 96 year old father-in-law and immediately referred him to the appropriate specialist. Because of Dr. Manik's vigilant care, she saved my father-in-law's eyesight and allowed him to continue enjoying playing bridge five times per week. God bless her and Dr. Tearse. They are a great team!!!

After two failed surgeries I was sent to see this doctor and I'm awfully glad I ended up there. Although it takes awhile to get in to see him it was well worth it.
He does testing to make sure what the causes so he can provide the treatment. There are limited medications that can be used for dry eye syndrome (and I hate meds). He also takes time to talk with you and sees what can be done to help your body do what it supposed to do.Few drs really know about dry eye and only treat symptoms not causes.

After my old Ophthalmologist retired, and I was due for a complete eye exam, I chose to go to Tearse Eye Center on a recommendation. The first person I met there was a receptionist, Neida, who was warm and friendly. After filling out a questionnaire, I was taken within 5 minutes to a room where they checked for various eye conditions (glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, etc.).
After that, the Ophthalmologist Dr. Manik, checked my prescription to see if it had changed. She was extremely thorough, and also explained everything to me in simple terms. In addition she was very natural

This is a LONG story! Hang in there. The bottom line: avoid this office.
I first saw Dr. Tearse because I was referred by my optometrist. I had an emergency appointment to address an issue no one could figure out. My conjunctiva was horribly inflamed and a little painful. My eye was bright red and it looked awful, but there were no signs of infection. I was given antibiotics and heavy eyedrops anyway.
I came back for a follow-up and Dr. Tearse decided to check me for dry eyes. I went through a ridiculous amount of testing, and low and behold it was concluded that I had dry eyes. I was immediately

Tearse Eye Care and their staff are wonderful. Dr Tearse is very knowledgable and the optometrist Dr Manik is very kind and good as well. The reception is always friendly and helpful. They also have snacks available in the waiting room which is always nice. Dr Tearse is a popular Doctor so the waiting room is typically packed but I am normally seen very quickly! 5/5 would recommend!

Tearse Eye Center offers an extensive thorough eye exam and state of the art equipment. Dr. Tearse diagnosed me with dry eyes. He was the 3rd ophthalmologist I'd seen and the only one to offer treatment. I had the lipiflow procedure to treat dry eyes and meibomian gland dysfunction. I'm so happy with my care and finally have pain free eyes. A big THUMBS Up to Dr. Tearse!

I had cataract surgery last year in one eye by another doctor, who shall remain nameless. I couldn't believe how my vision was WORSE! After months of visits and one quick procedure, I thought I was going crazy and it gets worse - he wanted to operate on my OTHER EYE! I was referred to Dr. Tearse and almost started crying with joy after my first visit! It'll be a year in April and I have to say I'm already 90% better! Dr. Tearse seems to be very good at what he does, but scheduling is unrealistic, and the relatively idle, chatty desk staff seem under-utilized. My elderly parents and uncle have been his patients for decades, so I decided to go to this practice when the Stanford Eye Clinic became too far for me and my busy schedule.
Dr. Sandy Chen was phenomenal, but she left to start a practice in the south bay, and I began seeing Dr. Tearse. I have no complaints about him, per se. What has made me seek a different practice is the INORDINATELY long wait times and the inability of the staff to send routine
