Thank you for visiting the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association (CLHSA). For 71 years, we have provided students with an elite education in a Christ-centered environment. I invite you to explore our website and see all the great things that are happening at Lutheran East and Lutheran West. Students from four counties across Northeast Ohio are served in our schools daily by dedicated and engaging Christian educators.

Cleveland's first Lutheran high school, located downtown near Cleveland State University, was founded in 1948. The school was one of many buildings torn down in the summer of 1958 to make way for construction of the I-90 Innerbelt. The Lutheran community subsequently made the decision to build two Lutheran high schools, one in Rocky River and one in Cleveland Heights.
The Lutheran community, and the newly-formed Cleveland Lutheran High School Association, subsequently made the decision to build two Lutheran high schools, one in Rocky River (which became Lutheran High School West) and one in Cleveland Heights (which become Lutheran High School East). Since then, thousands of young people have walked the halls of the school building on Linden Road.
To follow is the article about the Downtown School originally published in the CLHSA's 2020 Annual Report.
The first graduating class of Lutheran High School, the original Pioneers, dedicated the school's inaugural yearbook (The Pioneer) in 1952 as follows: In appreciation we dedicate this book to you - the men and women who made Lutheran High a reality, realizing that you wish to leave a rich heritage of Lutheranism in your city; to you whose faith in this glorious undertaking has not been shaken even in the face of adverse circumstances; to you who lived in your faith, who made a dream come true for the youth of Cleveland now, and in the distant future, God willing, through your diligent prayer, constant encouragement, and generous gifts of time and financial support.

The mission of the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association is to provide an excellent secondary educational experience for students in a Christ-centered environment. In an ongoing effort to fulfill this mission to the best of its ability, the CLHSA supports the operations and financial needs of our two Cleveland-area high schools: Lutheran High School East in Cleveland Heights and Lutheran West High School in Rocky River.
Guests enjoyed performances by a combined choir from Lutheran East and Lutheran West, a delicious lunch at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel's Silver Grille, and memorabilia from the CLHSA, both high schools, and the original downtown school. The event featured the introduction of a short video, which highlighted the past, present, and future of the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association.
