Epicenter Cycling was established in 2009 by Santa Cruz locals Shawn and Kazia Wilson. Our three stores in Aptos, Santa Cruz and Monterey offer a wide range of quality cycling products and services. All of our convenient locations offer ample parking. Epicenter Cycling is dedicated to providing the very best service to every type of cyclist.
You've heard about electric bicycles (also called e-bikes or ebikes) and how their pedal assist technology is making life so much more fun and convenient for cyclists of all ages, abilities, and riding styles. We're proud to offer the largest selection of electric bikes from the very best brands. With so many different styles of e-bikes on the market these days, how do you know which one is right for YOU?
Road and urban bikes are designed to be ridden on pavement (and some even on dirt paths or mixed terrain), but beyond that common denominator, styles differ widely depending on a range of factors. So, how can you discover which bike is right for YOU? Start by determining what kind of riding appeals to you.
Our Basic Tune-Up is recommended every 50 hours. We'll torque all fasteners, align and adjust brakes and shifting, adjust the headset, inspect the bottom bracket, lube the chain, and inflate the tires. This package is FREE for bikes purchased at Epicenter Cycling. Our Annual Overhaul is recommended every 50 hours.

Epicenter previously set up my BULLS E-STREAM EVO AM 4 about 2 years ago. Great service by Collin. I took my bike back to have Collin tweek a couple of things. For some irrationally obscure reason, Epicenter management decided that Epicenter would not work on Brose motors, which power Bulls eMTBs. Fine, but everything else is stock on a Bulls, Fox forks, Magura breaks, etc. Today I had a problem with my rear brake; I call Epicenter, told the person answering the phone that I have a Bulls eMTB with a brake problem. My call is transferred to Collin who says he'll work me in. I drive 45

Fairly disappointed in the service I received when taking my road bike in for an annual tune up. Half of the work was not completed. The wheels were clearly not trued. The cleanliness was mediocre at best. The brakes were far from aligned. This lack of effort is exactly why I was reluctant to bring my bike in to a shop for so long. I really wanted to give the shop the benefit of the doubt. I was hoping my conversation with the mechanic that they could sense my sincerity and passion for my Co-Motion bicycle passed down from my uncle, who passed away to cancer. I first took my unremarkable (and really neglected) Schwinn Sierra GSL to be fixed at a more well-known bike shop in town (no details, but includes the words "man"and "spokes" lol) and was told my bike was a pos (made after the company was sold blah blah blah) and would cost $350 to fix. Seriously!
Sad and dejected, I wandered over to Epicenter without knowing a thing about the place and this super nice guy named Colton said sure, they could fix my bike for $169 ... and they did! Now I'm riding around town all happy.

Thanks Sean for the unbelievable customer service. I cannot emphasize this enough, His customer service was excellent! He even offered to have the bike of my size built if the one I was looking at didn't fit my height.
Sean had the suspension modified especially for my back issues.

Rented a bike here. I dig the process. Transaction was done outside. Showed me the bike and the controls and off I go.
Why 3 stars? They just didn't want me to go inside the store. Not sure why, maybe I should have asked, but dang man. Why you got treat me like a 2nd rate customer? Did you think I was going to steal something after I just spent money on renting a bike?
I was expecting some type of feedback when I returned the bike like, how did you like the bike? Or would you like to see our inventory. Nah, they just took the bike made me wait outside and told me, I'm good

Having had terrible mountain bike experiences in the past, and believing I would never get on another bike again, my husband booked an Airbnb experience, "Mountain bike with a professional" https://abnb.me/zdcPKlxbNeb, to try to change my mind. It was absolutely amazing! Shari, a World Champion and Olympian, was a wonderful coach and instructor, and the rentals and staff from Epicenter Cycling were top-notch! We are already planning our next adventure. Highly recommend the shop and instructor!

With a shortage of bikes all around (Covid-19 impact), I was glad that I could find a bike of my preference (trek fuel ex-5 MTB) at this store. As it was an about an hour of where I was living from, I put down a refundable deposit (half the price if the bike) before I drove there.
Once I got there, the staff had already got the bike ready for a test ride. Got it tuned a bit more to my height, weight, length of my limbs, etc. Recommended me to try both a Large and XL size of the same bike to get the right size for my body frame.
No sales pressure to finalise one. They even recommended me to try

I recently purchased my first new bike from epicenter cycling. The purchasing process was fast and easy leaving the bike shop with my dream bicycle. Zack "the gravel specialist" was very helpful in the process explaining the different models and what would fit my style of riding best.
The reason I chose to purchase my bike from epicenter was the following: Unlimited tune-up, yes unlimited (or I haven't hit the limit yet), 10% added discount to anything you purchase from the shop, and the customer service.

This place is great- well worth the drive from Santa Clara. Very well knowledgeable People- sales and mechanic. Answered all my questions and more. Awesome accessories on hand with the top brands for all types, from road-to mountain bikes. Happily purchased a Trek Rail 9.9 and i'm loving it. Ask for Zach if you need anything. or have questions. With Covid shortages I thought I was doomed in getting a new bike! After a quick google search I found Epicenter cycling. To my surprise it was a new beautiful store with a huge selection. The sales associate was helpful with me in choosing a new bike. After a quick test ride around the block I settled on a new mountain bike. Epicenter has a well stocked show room, lots of accessories and a friendly staff. This is a great place to visit if needing anything cycling.

I love this place! Glad we decided to check this place out. So many bike shops we visited and we never felt as welcomed as they did here. how the staff helped my husband and I finding the right bikes! They really took the time to make sure we are comfortable. We did ask a lot of questions lol. They are very friendly. The selection of bikes they have are awesome and really good quality. Special thanks to Kazia and Shawn super friendly owners. I was in search the Trek Marlin 7 and unable to find it anywhere in Southern California. I was told I could preorder one but it wouldn't be available until January 2021. After checking the Trek website, I was able to locate ONE in stock here. The website did not locate any anywhere else. I quickly called Epicenter to inquire. Zach G. told me they had one left in the size and color I was looking for. Despite the 4-5 hour drive, I purchased it.
Within 3 days, I received a phone call advising me the bike was ready for pickup.

Picked up my bike today! This was a lot sooner than I expected. They told me they're pretty backed up with assembly, and that they probably wouldn't get it done til mid next week, and after a couple days, it's done!

Excellent customer service. Especially as compared to my experience at some other bike shops in the Downtown/West Side area. Called for curbside pickup for some repair supplies and they went above and beyond to be accommodating. My order was ready promptly and a friendly staff member brought it right out to my car in their small parking lot right off of mission street. They were super busy but she was happy to help out and didn't make me feel like helping me was a chore at all. Looking forward to shopping here again! They make it super easy and clearly value their customers.
