To strengthen our community by promoting economic independence for individuals facing barriers to employment through our nonprofit bicycle shop, charitable bike programs, and vocational training. Learning to master mechanical problems allowed me to put my all into each task, which gives me a bigger purpose outside myself.
And that's helped me get a better handle on my mental health. The longer I do this, the more I feel we are just scratching the surface of what we can do with CCofCA's charitable and vocational programs.

In 2015, I retired from 50 years of hi-tech sales and marketing and decided it was time to do something fun and give back, eventually landing in a bicycle non-profit, which is where I met Cindy. It wasn't long before we began to brainstorm the shared vision that led to the 2017 launch of Community Cycles.
Community Cycles is a full-service bicycle shop. Your purchase directly supports programs that provide bicycles, repairs, and job training to community members in need. We refurbish donated bicycles, saving them from landfill, and place them back on the road after completing 60+ safety tests. Our experienced mechanics are equipped for your minor repairs or major overhauls to ensure you're road-ready.
Through our Earn-A-Bike program, participants like Jenny, pictured, volunteer for 6 hours and receive a free bike. Our Free Mobile Repair Clinics operate at shelters, schools, libraries, and service organizations, providing easy access to those who rely on their bikes daily.
Our Housing-Based Bike "Kitchen", at the Laurel Grove Apartments, pictured, ensures bike repair tools and manuals are always available to tenants of this affordable housing complex. Our powerful Nonprofit Partners Program provides deeply discounted bikes and safety gear to organizations who get bicycles to children in low-income households and whose clients rely on bicycles as their primary means of transit.
