One morning, my wife and I headed out for breakfast and noticed a worried ranger heading down the hill beside Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge, our only connection to civilization. Sure enough, the bridge was falling down. My family moved to Carmel so that the kids could finish school, and we parked our cars north of where the bridge used to be.
Big Sur Adventures offers a number of guided tours throughout Big Sur and the Monterey Bay. Join us as we bike down 17-Mile Drive and enjoy gorgeous ocean views. Looking for something a little more uptempo? Try our Old Coast Road Tour, where we travel the original wagon trail into Big Sur. For the fans of the hit HBO series, check out our "Big Little Lies" Tour, where we take you to some of the show's filming locations.
Legendary for its beauty, 17-Mile Drive meanders up and down the hills of Pebble Beach. Join us as we admire stunning seaside views, famous golf courses, and amazing mansions on this guided e-bike tour. There will be approximately 1.5 hours of biking and 2 hours for photographs. Riders also have the option to continue unguided to Point Lobos or Carmel for an extra $10 per hour.
Looking for a little backcountry adventure with gorgeous views? Take an e-bike ride with us on the Old Coast Road Tour! This tour is only available on demand, and it follows the original wagon trail into Big Sur. We have a minimum price tag of $600 per tour due to the logistics of arranging shuttles and transporting the bikes.
Visit filming locations from the Emmy-winning series Big Little Lies in this guided e-bike tour! We'll take a page from the "Mothers of Monterey" as we pedal down the coast. Our newest e-bike tour launches from our base on Tin Cannery Row and features some famous filming locations for HBO's hit series Big Little Lies.

Going on this tour was one of the best choices we made in our trip. We had a blast! We enjoyed every minute. The combination of a comfortable ebike, the views along the way, and the professional tour guide we had, made it a perfect and memorable experience. I highly recommend this to anyone in the area. This was one of the most exciting things I have ever done in my life. Our tour guid was Joaquin and he was more than great. We were riding through the 17 mile drive and the scenic views were outstanding. We stopped multiple time to take pictures. This is a MUST do adventure for anyone visiting Monterey.

Johnathan was a fantastic guide with a wealth of information about the local area including wildlife, nature, and history. The bikes were in great shape and the ride was excellent. The experience was a highlight for our family trip to Monterey. Finally, all the staff and online scheduling was well organized and helpful. Cannot recommend more highly!

This was such a wonderful tour! I can't say enough good things about it. Our guide, Daniel, was terrific. He was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and personable. Such a magnificent way to view the beauty of the area. We received gloves, water, and snacks in the beginning of our tour and then made multiple stops throughout to highlight scenic points. We had plenty of stops with opportunity to rest, eat, and use restrooms if needed. Overall this tour was the absolute highlight of our weekend in Monterey and Carmel. I would recommend a thousand times over!!!

Wonderful day biking from Monterey/pacific grove down to Carmel! So much better to ride an e-bike than in a car with the windows rolled up, and the driver can’t enjoy it. We both loved the ride, the fresh air, and the beautiful scenery! Ocean, cypress trees, plenty of stops to take in the beauty. Will for sure be doing this again next time we’re in town!

This electric bike ride should be a bucket list from Monterey to the 17 Mile Pebble Beach scenic route. Big Sur Adventures provides this opportunity with friendliness, enthusiasm and guidance with high quality gear. My wife and I have never ridden electric bikes before so the friendly staff offered the fat tire option which provides a smoother ride. We listened to the easy to understand verbal and hands on instruction then signed our waiver, put our helmets on, and proceeded down the ramp to practice in an adjacent driveway/parking lot. It took about 5 minutes to go through the assisted pedaling

We are a family of four, kids ages 17 and 14. My husband got a tandem bike with our daughter, my son and I got regular electric bikes. They let us drive around the parking lot to practice before we took off. My husband had more of a learning curve with his extra baggage..lol. Overall, the tour was awesome! I liked the stops, the photo ops, and the tour guide. There were some tough hills and with the tandem, we fell a bit behind at one point and missed a turn. Lol. We did figure it out and our guide did come back for us so it wasn't a big deal. I will say, it's a bit fast paced so if you are nervous

My husband, daughter and I went on the electric bike tour. I was a little frightened of the bike to be honest but probably since I haven't been on a bicycle in a long time lol. Johnathan was our tour guy and he was great! He gave us so much information about every where we stopped and was accommodating and personable to everyone on the tour. Great experience!

Customer Service par Excellence! That is an apt definition of big. The equipment is top-notch and the value cannot be overstated. The location is perfect for a safe ride as the Monterey Coastal Trail is literally right in front of Big Sur Adventures...
That bike path provided breathtaking views. There's something special about an empty road going on and on and on to the horizon and where the ocean breezes the world away and the crystal blue sky blurs the line between heaven and earth.

We had the most fabulous experience taking the 17 mile drive e-bike tour this weekend!! Our guide was knowledgeable and funny and provided great information along the way! The stops were all beautiful the ride is such a great way to see 17 mile drive.
E- bikes are the way to go!! They make the ride so enjoyable as you aren't working so hard, just peddling nice and easy while the peddle assist does the work. We will definitely be renting the e-bikes each time we visit the area!

Super easy booking online! Great pricing, first hour is $10, second is $5! We got beach cruisers for 2 hours ($30), when we arrived our bikes were waiting for us, we just had to sign a waiver and were on our way! Helmets are provided, they even offered us gloves (was a little windy), and a bungee cord if we wanted to strap our backpack down at no extra cost. The area is all flat so the ride was easy and enjoyable. The shop is right next to the bike path so it was not hard to navigate if you are unfamiliar with the area. Super friendly and helpful staff, I would highly recommend and plan on booking

This is the best guided bike tour along the coast! My friend and I have done other guided bike tours from this area but none of them were as great as the one we just completed with Jonathan! Jonathan was super informative, extremely helpful, and VERY funny! He definitely made the experience great! He also gave me an extra hair tie he had because I did not come prepared with one lol. Overall a GREAT experience!

This is our second time renting from Big Sur and they make it easy to rent from them. Basically order on their website, Pay in advance, get a confirmation, and a reminder. When you pick up, they answer all your questions, provide helmets, locks, instructions, etc. The staff is very knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. The bikes are clean and run very well. The coastal trail is located across the street. You can ride all the way to 17 mile from the bike shop.
We would definitely rent from them again.

I had so much fun on these bikes :) spent $60 each on 4 bikes for single ebikes. Came on a Saturday around noon. The bikes are super robust, easy to operate, and powerful. Also comes with helmets and bags to put your things in. I also asked for a phone holder to make navigating easier.
The staff are also so nice and accommodating. There is metered parking next to the building, we paid about $9 for the time we were biking.

If you're a family with kids, reserve in advance, especially on busy Saturdays.
I was able to reserve a trailer and a tag along bike for a ride on Sat along with 2 electric bikes.
The bikes were great and I went uphill with a trailer hitched to my bike with no issues.
We have rented e-bikes in Santa Barbara and Long Beach but this was the first place that had anything like a tag along. It's a smaller bike that gets attached to a bigger bike.
We did the 17 mile scenic ride to Pebble Beach and with 2 kids and many many stops, it took us 5 hours and that was rushing back and forgoing
