Established in 1976, El Unico Restaurant & Cafeteria was a Hudson County staple not to be missed. Together, Juanito and his late wife, Elena, opened El Unico providing savory food and a familiar kitchen atmosphere for the growing Cuban community and curious palettes seeking a new experience. By providing excellent service and superior prices, Juanito made El Unico a celebrated restaurant among the Latin community in New Jersey.
Today, it's a family affair at El Unico de Elena with Juanito's daughter, Maria Elena, at the helm of operations and Juanito, guiding her along the way. New and former customers, alike, have returned to treat themselves to the delicious food and see this father-daughter duo in action. Serving up flavorful Cuban cuisine daily, El Unico de Elena presents patrons with a unique and friendly dining experience.

Food is ok for the price... i ordered breakfast w/everything, and extra ketchup and salt for delivery, i got no bacon or salt, ketchup, toast had no butter. They wanted me to come pick it up. Ordered the same thing, and again no salt or ketchup and coffee cup was a different size! Do not recommend unless u only have $6 for breakfast. Guanabana shake is good.

This is still one of the best bite for your buck in Hudson Country. Not a fancy sit down but if you’re looking for delicious Cuban Style food, Breakfast-Lunch and Dinner, this is the place. The service is fast, Very affordable and good tasting food.
They still offer lunch plates for $3.50. This is almost un heard off now days.
Black beans are great, the Caldo Gallejo(White bean soup) is great. The Moro (rice mix with black beans) is awesome.

Can you believe this amount of food was only $3.50??!! That's right, 3 dollars and fifty cents. That is unheard of these days. If you're on a budget and in the area, this is a great place to go to. My food was a little bland, almost like it was cooked for a person with a low salt diet, but hey it was still good. I've been coming here for years and the food was a little better before but still edible.
