Richard Alfaro and his wife Mary Kay enjoy the fruits of their labor. After a satisfying career as the founders of a restaurant and the wholesale baking company known under their own name, Alfaro's Micro Bakery, the couple shifted gears in 1997, acquiring an aging 75 acre apple farm south of Santa Cruz in Corralitos, California, which they subsequently transformed into Alfaro Family Vineyards & Winery.

Exactly what I had in mind when I dreamt of a California Vineyard. Picture Perfect!! My family was visiting California from the East Coast - this was one of our stops, which my Mum found last minute! We arrived with one adventurous 5 year-old and our lunch in tow, both were welcomed :) Our group of 6 claimed a picnic table as our home base. We sampled a variety of delicious wine, ate our lunch, listened to the lovely live music playing, and played one too many rounds of Rummy. In addition, the owner walked around and handed out slices of his homemade pizza!!!! I would say it was all a dream, but
