Since joining the Legacy Family (formerly Shannon EyeCare) team in 2010, Dr. Michael L. Roberts has put patient care at the forefront of his practice, while offering the latest in eye health technology. A 2003 graduate of Southern College of Optometry, he also completed a primary care residency program at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Dr. Tiffany Luke is an optometrist who is originally from south Georgia where she received her bachelor's degree in business and furthered her education at the University of Kentucky, pursuing a bachelor's degree in health care science.
Dr. Luke then graduated from UAB School of Optometry where she completed internships with the Birmingham VA Hospital and private practice including several clinical rotations in low vision at Callahan Eye Hospital, the Alabama Institute of the Deaf and Blind and local nursing home facilities.

I was born in Gainesville, GA and attended Gainesville High School and Gainesville State College. I have been in the optical business for 32 years and employed by Shannon Eye Care, now Legacy Family Eye Care since 1985 in the Cumming Office as a licensed optician. I enjoy working at Shannon Eye Care, now Legacy Family Eye Care because of the family atmosphere created by the staff and patients.
Regular eye exams are an important tool in eye health for detecting and preventing eye diseases and evaluating the overall health of the patient. Some diseases, such as glaucoma, develop gradually without symptoms or vision loss, so patients may not notice that anything is wrong until significant and irreversible damage as been done.

Been going there over 20 years (Shannon Eye Care both locations) went this time due to an accident. Concerned I was seeing flashes, more floaters, etc. Was told could not see retina well due to excess floaters, but probably fine - not emergency - but see Retina doctor next week. 3 days later I lost vision in my eye! There was a tear they failed to see and fluid went behind the retina a ruptured a vein. $7,000 - Emergency room, emergency Optometrist, emergency Retina laser surgery in Athens to repair it. Months later vision still impaired.

I had my tests done no problem. First I had to go back because the tech that handles measurements for progressive. Then I had to return a second time for the measurements. Glasses came in and no one can help get them fitted. Had to return for my second pair of glasses but tech was not the for adjustment. Called today and tech is not there for adjustment again. There is no one in the office that can take her place.
After 5 returns for help in over one .onto makes me want to find a different agency that can handle customers correctly. BTW, tech is still not due in until next week. Ug!

Do not schedule a appointment with this practice. My husband has been a patient there for years. Unfortunately, the Dr. he normally sees is no longer there. Since then the place has turned into a disaster. They cancel your appointment constantly due to last minute scheduling issues, which is code for the Dr. wanting to take a vacation or forgetting that he had something else he wanted to do other than see his patients. After the 2nd time they cancelled our appointment in less than 2 wks, we have chosen to go elsewhere. I suggest you do the same!

I have been coming to this practice for years. I loved Dr. Shannon, and I miss him. But Dr. Roberts and Dr. Luke are excellent and keeping the practice in very good hands.
I wondered when I read the negative reviews if the slips in service happened in the adjustment period after Dr. Shannon’s death.
Dr. Shannon was passionate about caring for people and their eyes, and the doctors and staff members who continue the practice maintain that legacy. The staff are friendly, helpful, and consistently have gone above and beyond to meet my needs.

Dr. Shannon and his staff are AWESOME. I have been to a lot of optometry clinics in Florida and Georgia and this clinic is by far the best that I've been to. He explains everything very clearly and really makes sure you have a comprehensive, user-friendly understanding of your eye conditions. He and his staff are very caring and attentive to your needs. As someone with a lot of unique eye conditions and needs, I am so glad that I found his clinic!
