VFC Engineering
German engineers believe in doing things properly, no matter what the cost - and so do we. We have earned a reputation for excellence over the past 20 years by never compromising quality when it comes to servicing our client's vehicles. There is only one proper way to service these expertly engineered machines - anything less than perfection is failure.

We offer comprehensive service options for all German Imports. We guarantee all repairs for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Our warranty is among the best in the business and reflects our confidence in the OEM parts and quality service our team of professional craftsmen provide. Many of our first-time clients come to us with a problem other repair facilities were unable to resolve.
Services
There's a good reason German automobiles are among the most beloved vehicles in the world: German manufacturers design their cars with a no-compromise standard. Only the best will do. And that's the philosophy we live by at VFC Engineering. We take a no-compromise approach to keeping your Audi, BMW, Mercedes, MINI, Porsche or VW running like new.
One common theme for all German cars is: maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. If you're not diligent about maintaining your Audi, the repair costs will add up quickly. But when you do properly maintain your Audi, it will run reliably, will be more affordable and will last for a long, long time.

Our team of expert Audi technicians is here to keep your vehicle running with the precision and high performance you expect from this legendary automobile. With a combination of fair pricing, a superior warranty and a practical maintenance schedule. We build German race cars. We've won two championships.
When the weather changes, especially as we head into winter, road conditions change as well. Driving in the fall means having to pay attention to a number of safety hazards on the road that you are not likely to experience during the warmer months in Chicagoland. Fog, frost, and mist are common fall driving hazards.
There are a number of safety features on any car, from airbags to warning lights that show up on your dashboard, to brake-wear indicators that tell you when it's time to have your brakes serviced before they give out. Brakes are a vital component to staying safe on the road, and if yours are slowly failing, damaged, or completely worn out, it's only a matter of time before something bad happens.
Our German car mechanic in Lakeview knows how coveted the Porsche 911 is, and for good reason. This is one of the most recognizable and stylish vehicles in the world, flaunting a sleek, sophisticated and timeless look for any driver behind the wheel. If you've been on the fence about investing in a Porsche, we bet the following unique facts can help push you over the edge.

Took my Mimi JCW for an inspection, they gave me a list of things to change and it was over 1k in repairs, they took 4 days or more to give the the diagnosis, I had to call to rush them. they told me the server was out which it’s hard to believe, and then I took my car to mini Cooper and none of those repairs were needed, just the battery needed to be registered to the vehicle so I’ll charge accordingly since it’s an aftermarket battery, over all I felt they didn’t care much about me as a client just my money. I’ll be taking my car to the dealer from now on.

Exceptional Cusomer service, knowledge and integrity. Most people take their cars to the generic “dealer repair place for their car brand - ie Audi repair” until they are recommended someone better. One of the toughest things about finding a good auto repair service is trust - trusting the workmanship and the bid. Zack Hillman, the owner of VCF Engineering, has earned my trust in spades. Their knowledge and care for European cars, in my case an Audi Q5, is first rate.

Critical: Professionalism
👎DISRESPECTFUL!👎 My daughter was LAUGHED at, RIDICULED, and told told that the car part she needed DID NOT EXIST!! Talk about gaslighting...they also told her that she should have "actually paid attention and written it down" when she told you word by word what the dealership said...safe to say i'll never do business here

Critical: Value
I was quoted and absurd price for an exhaust swap. 500-1500$ to do a bolt-on exhaust. Performance Eurowerks and NCA Motorsports (both reputable companies) quoted me $300 or less. I would not recommend VFC Engineering, they seem greedy.

This place is a hidden gem. If you have a German car and want a reliable honest assessment of your car's issues and practical advice on needed repairs and regular maintenance , this is the place. Friendly, informative and smart team. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else

We recently moved to Chicago and had a major repair to our car shortly after moving here. We didn’t know which repair places were honest so we took the car to the dealership.
Months later we found a repair place with stellar reviews, VFC, and took the car in for a battery change. Turns out my original dealership put in a battery designed for an A3 rather than A4. Next we went in for an oil change. At the oil change, they found another major issue with the car. Zach explained it to us but it was a difficult decision based on the high cost. When I went to pick the car up, Zach went over everything

I've been servicing my Mini Cooper here for the past 5years. Highly recommended shop. They specialize in European cars. The fact that they are also involved into national championship car racing, and know how to tune-up their cars, gives me confidence that they are the best in class when comes to car diagnosis and repairs.
I've got multiple repairs done on my car over the years, and VFC was absolutely the best choice for the job. No other car service dealership can match the experience and knowledge of those techs at VFC. Zach and Doug are a joy to talk and interact with. Thanks VFC !👍

If the following mirrors your experience with VFC, my opinion would be to stay away from these guys:
I have taken two separate SUVs in for service at VFC. Each time, upon picking up my vehicle, the service writer told me they found a couple of problems with my car. They said that if I get the problem(s) they identified fixed NOW, the cost of repair will be lower. However, if I wait, the problem will become much worse and will cost me LOTS more money to fix, so I better act now! Sound familiar? Read on.
I purchased my most recent SUV about one year ago, a Certified Pre Owned from the dealership

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I'm cheap, with a love of high-mileage, aging German cars, so since I enjoy pain, I'm glad to find a repair shop with people I trust.
I've been taking my 1998 BMW M3 (240K miles) and 2013 BMW 328XI (170K miles) here for the past 5-6 years for all of my routine maintenance and major servicing. I have primarily worked with Zach and Carlos, who have always been professional, thorough and understanding of what I needed. Pricing has always been fair and they understand that not every German machine is a garage queen or track machine. I have never felt like a service

This is the place!
I have searched high and low for a good mechanic for my aging Passat, and after a few disappointing places, I'm happy to report that VFC surpassed my expectations by a mile!
It is a small shop that really cares about their craft and their customers.
I can't say enough about their work ethics, they are impeccable.
If you are searching for a great team of mechanics, here they are, give them a call.

If you're looking for a Porsche shop that has seen it all, this is the spot. I've been bringing my 997.1 911 here for the last two years ever since I had them perform a pre-purchase inspection on it, and whenever I come by, the shop always has various generations of 911 around. I've seen 997s, 996s, 993s, 964s, and even pre-964 911s; air-cooled or water-cooled, they handle it.
I've always received good clarity and explanations regarding the work that needs done - Zach especially is happy to take you around your car while it's up and point out concerns or things to watch out for. I've learned quite

For almost two years I've been going here for all my auto needs - preventative maintenance, inspection before a road trip, resolving Check Engine lights, and figuring out that weird noise that you heard every time you drive down half-finished Chicago alleys. Zach does a great job of explaining any work that needs to be done. If you're unsure about any service he recommends after an inspection, he'll take the time to explain it so that even a novice with no knowledge about the workings of an international combustion engine can understand.

The labor cost is less than the other shops

It's tough to find a good independent Porsche shop. Zach, Doug, and Carlos are a class act. Total transparency and attention to detail. You will not be disappointed. These guys know their S#!T inside and out. I felt so good after a visit with my new/used Cayenne, that even though this place is almost an hour from my house, I will not go anywhere else. Good guys and a good shop. I know they also work on Audi, BMW, and VW. I'm sure they could handle anything but those are there specialties. Thanks fellas! VFC Engineering is the definition of Excellence!

I have been a customer of VFC for years and I can't thank Zach enough for taking care of my car. When I leave my car with Zach I know I am leaving it in good hands. The level of trustworthiness you find at VFC Engineering you will not find anywhere else.
My Old Man and I dropped his car at his mechanic once and he told me, "We are not rich to pay for something twice; always look for someone who does the job right the first time, look for quality." So, if you are looking for someone who takes pride on what he does, look no further

I have a VW golf w 50k miles. I took my car into the dealership when the check engine light came on and was told it would be $1,100 to fix a pressure sensor issue. I was hoping to avoid spending that much and wanted to get a second opinion. After doing some research for good repair shops in Chicago, I came across VFC. They took very good care of me and were great in explaining what the issues were and how to correct them. Communication and speed in which the repairs were made was top notch - not to mention half the cost of the dealership. Would definitely recommend!

This is the only shop my husband and I will take our 2010 Volkswagen Golf.

Over the years, my husband and I have taken our car to VFC time and time again for repairs and regular maintenance, and we've yet to be disappointed in this Chicago gem! Zach and Doug, the father-son duo that run this family owned shop, are some of the most genuine people we've had the pleasure of doing business with. They're honest, and have given us the best rates BAR NONE in comparison with other mechanics we've worked with both near and far.

Please read this carefully before going to VFC...

When I bought my 2005 Audi A4 Cab, I took it to VFC to have them inspect the car. They rebuilt the cooling system and advised me to watch a few parts that would need to be changed soon. They walked me through the repairs, showed me what they were doing, and were extremely nice. I was delighted by their apparent knowledge of my car and was excited that I finally found a good garage that I could trust!

When I came back 6 months later for a simple oil change, I asked them about the airbag light that was back on (they cleared it the first time which

Took my 2006 Audi to VFC for the first time a few weeks ago, and was very pleased with everything about it.
First off, Zach is very friendly, helpful, and thoroughly while explaining issues and discussing prices. I called at almost 5pm, was still greeted very nicely even though they were about to close, and then had them repair my car the following morning. That's exceptional service!
Pricing was even better than my last German mechanic out in Geneva. I had one side of my motor mounts replaced, and they discovered that some of my front control arms were very worn out in the inspection
