In 2014 Phil Schrupp began planting the roots for SOTA Fitness with a single mission in mind: to transform people's lives and change the way they think about fitness and nutrition forever. He believed that if you can unlock the power of your mind, you unlock the power of your body.

He also believed that if you want to create real change in the community, you need to do it with a team of coaches who believe in the same principles down to their core.Since we opened our doors in 2017, our approach has changed the lives of hundreds of busy, hard working individuals just like you who have learned to build sustainable health and wellness into their everyday lives.

Our group classes combine functional strength training with cardio and intense bursts of anaerobic exercise to deliver the ultimate workout experience in just 50 minutes! Give us 100% and our classes can burn 750 calories in just 50 minutes. SOTA workouts combine strength training with cardio and alternate bursts of intense anaerobic exercise with recovery periods to keep the heart rate elevated throughout the workout.
Our approach towards nutrition is simple: we're going back to basics with real, whole foods. We don't do flash diets, fads, or gimmicks. The best part? You don't have to give up foods you love. Your nutrition has the strongest effect on transforming your body, period, which is why we place an extra emphasis on your nutrition while working with us.
Don't let the intensity scare you! All of our workouts include scaling options, and our small class format allows us to keep a close eye on you to make sure you're moving safely. Your coach will be alongside you throughout the workout to check in, and help make modifications when necessary. We'll meet you wherever you're at, and show you how to scale things up as you get stronger!

Before even moving to MN, I'd done my homework to find a gym that was like the one I had come to love in Philly - small, personal setting with high intensity workouts with a good range of classes/ times. With SOTA, I found that & more. Phil & all of the trainers have created an environment that is fun, challenging, supportive and, above all else, really feels like a community. I've been coming to SOTA for close to 3 years now, as both a personal training client & a class attendee, and I can confidently say that it has totally changed my relationship with exercise. My coach, Ben, is invested in my health and knows just how hard to push me. He is a great listener who is positive and encouraging. The rest of the staff is great as well, they are friendly and greet me personally by name when I come in to workout. SotaFit has such a range of clients it isn’t intimidating to go in and get the best workout for me.

I've been coming here off and on for a year or so and it's by far my favorite gym in the area. The trainers are all fantastic but Shelby is my favorite!

I love this place! It has been my saving grace of 2020. I love Every coach, every workout and every burpee. This gym is welcoming and inviting and is perfect for anyone looking to get a good workout.

I have been to well over 50 different gyms/classes/studios around the Twin Cities and Sota Fitness is one of the best/hardest HIIT classes I've taken. Coaches are super welcoming and do a great job pushing you. Always walk out sweating and feeling great!

SOTA is everything you want in a gym. Phil and the other trainers are great at creating workouts that fit your lifestyle and goals, in group classes (through modifications, etc) and in personal training sessions. They also have informed and flexible (vegetarian, paleo, etc.) meal plans and recommendations that are easy to fit into your everyday life. They approach fitness and healthy eating as more than losing weight or getting back into shape; it's a lifestyle and should be a long term solution. I love the gym itself, as its super inviting and brightly lit. The trainers work with dietitians

Want a good workout? Come here. I really like how the workouts are set up and never the same. I also like that they have designated days for muscle groups but still feels like you get a total body workout by the end. I was a little nervous at first since it's been awhile since doing any type of group workout but the trainers and people who attend are super nice and quickly made me feel at ease. Highly recommend checking it out!

Phil is AWESOME! He provides super fun and challenging workouts with his HIIT style classes. He's always there to make sure that everyone has proper form and keeps the motivation flowing throughout the hour. I also work with him 1-1 personal training/nutrition and it doesn't get any better than what he provides. I've seen different trainers in the past, and its doesn't compare to his program. I always recommend him to anyone and everyone who is in the market for a trainer or great workout routine!
