Southshore Coalition
The South Shore Coalition for Mental Health and Aging is engaged as a non-profit organization to provide mental health services to the residents of South Hillsborough County, including Sun City Center, Ruskin, Wimauma, Apollo Beach and Riverview.

We challenge everyone with the means to live a healthy lifestyle in their aging years, and help residents who need extra assistance by providing them with options that can assist them to deal effectively with their personal conflicts and relationships.Our outreach includes a quarterly seminar, newsletter, website and the Coalition Office at the Sun Towers Retirement Community in Sun City Center, Florida.
Services
D., M.S., R.D., Assistant Director of Community-Based Research with USF Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute provides education to South Shore volunteers. These Certified USF Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute Community Based Memory Screeners offer their time in screening community members in order to develop and maintain a baseline score in memory.

Thursdays from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at Sun Towers Retirement Community, 101 Trinity Lakes Drive, Sun City Center, FL. Recent studies, most notably at Cleveland Clinic, focus on the concept of intense "forced" exercise, and have begun to suggest that certain kinds of exercise may be neuro-protective, i.e., actually slowing disease progression.
Ticket to Work Puts People Back in the Driver's Seat Social Security encourages people to rejoin the workforce when they are able. If you have Alzheimer's disease, it's important to understand that your life is not over. Living with Alzheimer's means dealing with some life changes sooner than you had anticipated. You can live a meaningful and productive life by taking care of your physical and emotional health, by engaging in activities you enjoy and by spending time with family and friends.
