When choosing a psychologist to work with your child and family, it is important to find someone you "click with" and like. It is also helpful to know about their training and background. She earned a Ph. D. in clinical psychology at UCLA, which is ranked the #1 clinical psychology doctoral program in the United States.
Assessment: Children and their families participate in a preliminary assessment when we begin. This process emphasizes strengths and includes interviews, questionnaires, games and challenges, review of records, and real-time observation of skills in a variety of areas. Positive features of children's families, neighborhoods and communities are identified, as well as challenges to development and well-being.
RELATIONSHIP-ORIENTED: Most especially in the early years, babies and children develop the core capacities of mental health through their close relationships with parents, family members, and other loved ones. Any effort to provide more intensive support - including psychological assessment and intervention - must therefore be a partnership and genuine collaboration with parents and families.
