Northeast Natural Medicine is currently a contracted provider for Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Other plans often have out-of-network benefits, for which we may bill your insurance company directly. In the State of Connecticut, naturopathic doctors are recognized as specialists and are licensed physicians.
After graduating with honors as a double major in environmental science and philosophy from Purchase College in New York, Dr. Shawn M. Carney continued to pursue a fusion of these interests by undertaking a career in integrative medicine.
He received a doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the University of Bridgeport after having worked for several engineering and environmental science firms and serving as a full-time emergency medical technician.Dr. Carney has studied in a wide array of settings including AIDS Project of Greater Danbury, Casa Hostas Rehabilitation Center of Bridgeport, and with physicians from the International Lyme and Associated Disease Society (ILADS).

I was recommended to Dr. Carney about a year ago and it was one of the most amazing discoveries! My teenage daughter and I went to him with some mild health concerns. He was engaging, truly empathetic and a fantastic listener; I’ve never felt more “heard” from a doctor. He took his time with us, which you really don’t see any more, and recommended to start with extensive blood work. This was a bit intimidating but when my daughter and I got our results I have never seen my levels and body chemistry presented to that extent! This was beyond thorough and both of us found out some deficits

Ignored the other reviews and sure enough they were right. Dr carney is just driven by money. He didn’t even bill my insurance and charged my card on file. I called about it, they never called back so I stopped by in person and he was so defensive about charging me. Claimed that he already new my insurance won’t be covered because another patient had the same insurance. I told him how can you not even bill my insurance when you’re in network with my insurance as a participating provider. He then was shocked that I had zero copay and said I shouldn’t get too used to that because it will

Working with Dr. Carney has helped immensely in a multitude of ways ranging from serious symptom relief of Tic borne illnesses and treatment protocols as well as some very impressive benefits and improvements to my autoimmune health conditions as well. I cannot say enough good things about low level laser treatment protocols as nothing I have experienced to date can compare to the effectiveness and speed of relief provided from each treatment. Dr. Carney is both knowledgeable and personal. His healing practices have greatly helped both my wife and me, as well as our 2 young girls. It is very easy to see how strong his levels of knowledge and experience translate into a successful natural medicine business. I found that it is amazing to actually spend more than 5 minutes with a doctor! Be prepared to spend more time with an actual doctor vs sitting in a waiting room.
