Thirty or forty years ago, having problems with your automotive heater often required replacement of the heater core. This was due to the type of antifreeze that circulated through the cooling system and the small heat exchanger. Ethylene glycol engine coolant required a recommended coolant flush every 30,000 miles to prevent the old fluid, which turned acidic, from eating away at the thin passageways that make up the heater core.
You might not think much about your vehicle's cooling system until you're sitting on the side of the highway waiting for a tow truck. Your vehicle's cooling system is responsible for preventing your engine from overheating by reducing the temperature inside of it. When this system fails to work properly, it can cause your engine to overheat and keep you from getting where you need to go.

I had a really great experience here with Rick. They're not trying to rip you off or take your money like most car places. I came in with an engine light message and some other messages showing on my dash board. They did a diagnostic and fixed the issue. Rick did recommend another service if i get the same issue again. I can appreciate him saying i think it's resolved but if the problem comes back up we will do this. Most places would have just taken my money. I totally RECOMMEND Rick and his crew. I'll be returning.

Every experience with Chicago Motors has been phenomenal. Rick and the team are such a solid crew of communicators and technicians. I've brought our SUV in on a number of occasions and feel like the recommendations, prices and turn around time on the repairs are thoughtful and super fair. I dig this place. Chicago Motors saved my car for less than half of what other companies quoted me. I had an engine problem that most places said would cost 4-7k to replace. Joseph and the team at Chicago Motors took time to investigate my engine and concluded they could actually go in and fix it, and they did for only 1.7k. I thought my car was a goner or that I'd be paying for this repair for years. I'm so grateful that won't be the case, thanks to these talented and helpful folks. I highly recommend their services, especially if you have a complex/expensive issue with your car.

We came from 3 hrs away to purchase a car at a dealership. I took it to Chicago motors for an inspection 1/2 before their technicians went home. They still took the car in and performed the full comprehensive 1 hour inspection staying late to complete it. I would highly recommend for any service needs.

I urge you to call them and make an appointment because they are always busy. Once they have your vehicle they examine it and give you a call back with an estimate of the cost. When you approve the repair they will have it ready for you as fast as they can.
Oh I forgot to mention that if they feel that your vehicle is unsafe to be driven the offer to have someone come to retrieve it.
Thanks to the great work of this team I was back on the road in no time.

This place is the real deal. I recently moved to the neighborhood & needed some immediate car work done. They were able to get me in same-day and the car was finished after the part came in the following day. The mechanic working on my car even skipped his lunch break to help me! The customer service is excellent. It's really hard to find a car mechanic you trust, and I've never felt safer. Super reasonable pricing & knowledgeable staff. This is a first-rate business and their customer service is exceptional. My husband, Jorge, won’t take our cars to anyone else. These folks are ethical and consistently fair in regard to their quotes and services. On several occasions, we’ve had some very serious, unforeseen emergencies and Chicago Motors staff has done everything possible to respond immediately and to “come to our rescue”. :-) everyone seems to have/know “a guy” for various repairs or service needs. As a woman who has felt taken advantage of by mechanics in the past, I did my best to trust these guys and they have earned it. Joseph was quick to reach out after I inquired online. Rick explained things without patronizing my mechanical knowledge and definitely gave me control on what work I wanted done on my Tiguan. My repair took a bit longer than anticipated, it happens, but I never felt like they were just trying to get my car out of their garage. I'm happy I looked up a VW specialist and found these guys. I want to thank Rick, Joseph and everyone at Chicago motors! They are truly the best and honest mechanic shop I've been too. Its hard to find an honest mechanic now a days. Other mechanics estimated over $3500 in repairs and mentioning a list of items that "needed repairs". Rick and Joseph found out its nothing major and few repairs would fix it all. I saved so much money working with Chicago motors that I will continue to work with them and recommend family and friends to bring their cars in to them. Truly impressed with their work.

I also want to mention that I had my car diagnosed at another auto shop and their estimate for repairs were extremely expensive. That auto shop also said that I needed four more very expensive repairs that Chicago Motors assessed the car did not need. This business is a quality auto shop with ethical employees. This is where I plan on taking my car for all future repairs and services

Had initial inspection of overall health. Transmission oil, engine oil and & air filter change cost me nearly $500 for 2 days work! Recommended tire change, front shocks replaced, and waterpump & thermostat replaced since coolant residue was found. I was given quotes of about $777 for the cooling system fix. At home 2 days later, the dripping leaks turned from OK to worse, although no overheat, excessive smoke, or funny noise, temp gauge was well around 30-40 so I don't want to assume anything yet, but I know for sure now I'm never going back. ('86 Benz 300SDL Turbo).

I'm not a mechanic, but I feel so bad for recommending these guys to my girlfriend. They had worked on my Audi before with no problems. She took her vehicle in this winter for a tune up, tire rotation, and an issue with her heat.
Here are the problems:
1) They started work on her car before getting the ok from her. They called with the quote and said that they already have the whole dash taken out. Really?
2) They did rotate the tires, but didn't bother checking the pressure. 3 days after she got the car back I checked her tire PSI and each were low. Is it too much to ask to

Bad bad bad experience with these guys.
After Joseph had charged me for a diagnostic and provided an estimate to replace the radiator he came up with an additional diagnostic and said the engine was not working and needed replacement. What kind of mechanics are these people that can't diagnostic a bad engine?
After spending $600 to repair what he said was broken he wanted an additional $2,700 to repair the engine.
I would stay away from these guys.
