Services
Keumgang Martial Arts Academy is a family-focused school dedicated to promoting the philosophy and principles of traditional martial arts. For children we emphasize focus, discipline, and life skills in our curriculum to prepare them for a brilliant future. Our youth program focuses on these fundamentals and refines them so that they are not simply understood, but also applied in real life situations.
While our martial arts training is an excellent personal-development activity for children, it's great for adults also. Our Mundelein Martial Arts adult students usually find that they cope better with stress, sleep better at night, work better during the day and just feel better overall. They also have a greater peace of mind due to the knowledge and expertise on what to do if faced with a dangerous situation.
The overarching goal of the Mundelein Martial Arts school is to build our students' self-esteem, which we do by acknowledging, recognizing and rewarding not just our students' accomplishments and successes, but their efforts as well. Learning martial arts is a physical endeavor, involving all muscle groups to help develop a student's physical fitness.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has a long and expansive history and is known for its constant and rapid evolution. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is considered one of the best styles for self defense. It was made famous by the Gracie family through what was known as the "Gracie challenge, " where practitioners left their doors open to challenges from any style at any time.
Jiu Jitsu is a close contact sport, and we get it, sometimes you don't want to train with the guys. Fortunately, KMAA has a very active women's jiu jitsu program that suits the comfort levels of nearly anyone. Our black belt professor focuses on the Gracie self defense curriculum that helped put Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on the map.

I know nothing about martial arts, but I can say for certain the teachers bring lots of energy to the lessons and they are remarkable with children.
My child just started so I cannot comment on the instruction, however after a couple classes it seems just fine to me.
I recommend you give this place a look if your in the market for martial art instruction.

My daughter has been attending taekwondo for about a year and she loves it. Master Mike and Master Chris are great and so instrumental in her development. My husband recently joined their jujitsu program and really enjoying the challenge. I also have taken a couple of fitness classes and plan to join as we love this facility and all the teachers.

Amazing Martial Art Class!!!! Masters have incredible level of patience and love towards my 5-year-old, who is extremely shy and introvert. I see my little one's changes in the course of learning martial art with Keumgang, and seeing him getting yellow belt, tears are running over my face. Something that is easy for other moms is really hard for me. Thanks to Keumgang, I see my baby's potential and my gratefulness for Keumgang is beyond my words.

Master Chris and Master Mike of Mundelein's Keumgang Martial Arts Academy are among the finest teachers I've met, and I've met plenty. They are both highly skilled practitioners of their art, amazing to observe in demonstration. More significantly, they are both exceptional in their approach to small children and teenagers, patient beyond belief, teaching at the level of each child. I cannot comprehend a martial arts school equal to or better than this one -- in Mundelein, Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Chicago, anywhere.

I strongly recommend Keumgang Martial Arts Academy (KMAA), NOT associated with the prior martial arts that was in this same location. This is a great institution (about 9 months old) they are outstanding with the children and parents. My sons love this school, and I love what the school offers to them. Their way of teaching, captures both of my boy's attention in a way I've never seen other instructors do. They also help my boys get involved in the community, which shows them great caring skills for others. They're the best martial arts academy in Mundelein, hands down!
