Dr. Ricks and Dr. Atwal have extensive experience evaluating and managing eye health and prescribing customized eyeglasses and contact lenses. Our doctors use the latest technologies to provide comprehensive eye exams, accurate prescriptions and the best treatments for each patient's needs. Dr. Atwal and Dr. Ricks are both originally from Northern California and received their Optometry Doctorate degrees from UC Berkeley.
At Vision Fx we work with patients of all ages and with all types of eye care needs. We also perform pediatric exams and provide frames and lenses specially developed for kids. During our eye exam, we will perform a full examination of the visual acuity, visual performance and health of your eye. We use the most advanced equipment and technologies including automated testing equipment, computerized acuity testing and ocular imaging.
Our Doctors are trained in the pre and post surgery care of cataracts, laser surgery and other surgical procedures. Dr. Ricks and Dr. Atwal will perform a comprehensive eye exam using the latest technologies to diagnose eye problems and will prescribe the best treatment options, including eye surgery when necessary.
Most people know that if you are having trouble seeing then it's time to go to the eye doctor. What many people don't realize is that sometimes the eye exam for a patient with no complaints can be the most important one. Every eye exam will include looking inside and outside the eye for health issues.

I was seen at Vision FX by Dr. Atwal who was very polite and quite personable. Afterwards, I met Catherine. She was also nice, until we got down to the discussion of my new eyewear. I have VSP and its the extended care care plan with dual coverage since I am also covered under my husband's plan. I did not disclose this to her but once we began talking about frames, and the type of lenses I wanted, that's where things took a turn in the wrong direction, at least for me. She began with asking if I wanted digital lenses, as she said from what she could tell that's what I had, along

I would like to thank Ms Catherine for being so accommodating and amazing. I've been having headaches after buying glasses from Site for Sore Eyes in Brentwood by Foodmaxx in Feb 2020. I've informed them of my concerns and was told that "it will take a couple of days for my eyes to adjust to the new glasses" I purchased there. Come to find out, Site for Sore Eyes really did make my eyes sore by putting my contact prescription on what I thought was just one of my glasses however the other pair had a completely wrong prescription from what the doctor there prescribed me!

I had a 4pm appointment today. I was seen on time. I am a nurse and was impressed with the attention to detail in regards to sanitizing between patients and mask wearing by all. Everyone was professional and polite. The doctor exam was one of the best and most thorough I have ever had.

I found this optometrist from my vision insurance provider. I only went there one time for the appointment that was scheduled 11/9/2020. I ordered two pairs of glasses and spent a little under $250. I received a phone call on 11/25 confirming my glasses were at the office. I requested my glasses be mailed to me. I reached out on 12/2 when I was informed by the woman my glasses were being mailed to the wrong address. So I brought my kids in for an eye exam, it was nice that they could schedule all of us together. I was worried about my young one because she does not know her letters, but Dr Atwal was great! They had pictures that worked real well. Except for the telephone (old rotary phone pic) it was hilarious Dr Atwal and I had a good laugh.
Only one of them need glasses but was a really good experience.

Have been nothing but pleased with this location. I'm always in and out pretty fast. Even when I had made a appointment at the last moment they still were able to schedule me to come in the same day which meant the world to me. The doctor is very nice and personable.
My only complaints is they try to sell you on prescriptions you don't really need. The doctor tried to sell me a pair of glasses even though he said the new prescription is very similar to my old one. Since money is tight it can be frustrating when you say NO and they keep trying to push glasses on you that you don&apos

I called to make an appointment and spoke to a very nice lady who helped me get an appointment easily. Once there, the office was clean and spacious, and again, the staff was nice. The doctor spent more time than I expected to figure out what was wrong. He explained what was happening with my eye and gave me confidence that I am in good hands. It's a relief to see a new doctor and feel like your concerns are heard and addressed. So far, so good!

I will return to Dr. Atwal Vision FX again this year for my annual and as I expected its already started out to be another great experience. Edward at the front desk took my appointment verified my insurance/benefits (pro-active) Edward his assistant is fabulous!! This is a great office. Top Notch service!! This staff is great! They really care! If I could give 10 stars I would especially to Dr.Atwal and Edward! Can't wait to get my new glasses. I'll be back next year!

Seriously so disappointed. Customer service is what grows your business. I gave them 3 times. Big 0! Dr was great but front desk and staff that answered phone were sooo rude! I even called to see if they could special order frames 700.00++ but he shot me before I could ask another question . I guess to busy and to good for my $.

Dr. Atwal was so personable! He put me right at ease. Dr. Atwal was very thorough in my exam and answered all of my questions. Really nice guy!

My visit here was great! The eye clinic was nice and clean and the staff were very helpful. My optometrist put me in new contact lens that were much more comfortable. It has always been a problem for me in the dry seasons out here. My husband's insurance VSP only covered the contacts this year but I got a great deal on some sweet sunglasses. The only problem was getting an afternoon appointment, I would just call a week or so in advance if you need to come in after work. Best of all I can see!!

This place ROCKS! I recently relocated to the area and was weary about finding an eye Dr. that I would like. Dr. Atwal is GREAT! He is funny and personable. The office assistant is great, informative and friendly. I would definitely recommend this office to friends and family. The price I paid for my contacts are a little more than I am used to, but not too much. Great place to get your eyes taken care of.

I recently moved into the Mountain House and seriously needed a pair of glasses. The old glasses just weren't cutting it anymore for my daily drive into the bay area.
The great service really started from the phone call. I always mess up my insurance information; since, they all sound the same... VSP, ESP or eyemed or usually a mix of the words vision eye medical . It was a super simple process here. Honestly, looking up my benefits is worse than the dilation drops Dr Atwal

This was a great discovery for me right here in Discovery Bay. This is a new office with a couple of great young optometrists. I was able to arrange an appointment within a couple of days. Dr. Ricks gave me a very thorough exam. He seemed clearly interest in the overall health of my eyes and didn't just want to sell me a pair of glasses. I don't think I will ever go back to COSTCO again. I am recommending this office to my friends.
