Services
Dr. Strain is a Penn State graduate. She completed her doctorate in optometry in 1983 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She purchased the practice in 2002 and moved it to its current location in 2004. She loves working with patients of all ages and backgrounds. In December of 2010, she was invited to join Vision Source.

There are now preventative treatments available to prevent children from moderate to high myopia. Your child becomes myopic, or nearsighted, when their eyeball begins to grow too long. This focuses light in front of the retina, rather than directly on the retina, causing blurred vision. Your child will have an increased risk of various ocular conditions, including retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, and myopic macular degeneration.
Vision Source South Hills works with many insurance carriers and payment plans, including HSA/FSAs. If you do not see your specific vision plan or medical insurance listed here, don't worry! Call our office to see if we accept your plan. Please keep in mind that some insurances have multiple plan types, and we may participate in some but not all of those plans.

Dr Strain is a service provider and just like a field goal kicker she is only good as her last kick, or in this case her last service provided. She was a bit short on last service provided to me.. I have been a patient of hers for at least 8 years and never a problem. The last visit was not good. I was having difficulty reading with the current prescription of contacs. I was given a new prescription and it was worse. I contacted the office and was told that they were very busy and the dr. was messaged. I called a total of 3 times and was given the same message. I just guess she was too busy or

Will not return. They gave me a bunch of issues and tried to charge me when things were covered (They did tell me a head of time about the $40 charge though). They had my insurance but did not apply it until I questioned them before paying. They charged me for a "specialty fitting" which was unneeded, and she wrote me a prescription for the wrong size contacts anyways. They would not provide the prescription on paper the day of the appt, I had to call and have it faxed because I was not ordering contacts through them since it was going to cost almost double.

One of the doctors was EXTREMELY rude to me and told me she was going to tape my eye lids open during my exam. They also make you get a retina scan that costs almost $50 extra out of pocket and won't do your exam unless you do it and they didn't tell me about it until I was in the door for my exam. Won't be returning, good riddance.

This is the second year my wife has gone to see Dr. Strain, and the first for me. Just like my wife, I'm very impressed. The office was clean, and the staff was professional and friendly. Dr. Strain was very thorough and had an excellent ability to explain things in simple ways. Overall, if you're looking for an eye doctor in the Bridgeville area, or nearby, I'd definitely recommend checking her out.

I have posted before about how I love this office, but the front desk lady was not a nice person. I have been informed by the office themselves that “K” the front desk woman has been fired. With that being said, I strongly recommend Dr. Strain to anyone. She has been the longest eye doctor that I have ever been to. Not only because of her outgoing and caring personality, but because she makes sure everything is suited to you and your expectations. The only problem I had, was resolved. I hope everyone likes this office as much as I do.

I have very difficult eyes to work with, and Dr. Strain was the only doctor to be able to get me to see well out of my "bad" eye. She is patient and persistent. She uses everything she has to find the perfect prescription. This last visit, I had to get my first pair of "all-grown-up" glasses (aka: my first pair of bifocals). Dr. Strain as well as the gentleman in the eye glasses section (I'm terrible with names...sorry) were wonderful in explaining how these new lenses should work and the best strategies for using and getting used to them.
