Points:
(1) Very slow shipping. Took 6 weeks. UPS ground. If you need to add help, then do so. It took way too long.
(2) Shipping and Handling was way over done and they charged too much. They charged me $125 for UPS ground on a old frame with a medal in it that was about 10 x 14". It took a week to arrive. However, the box was very well packaged.
(3) 26% buyer premium is way above market and not worth it unless it is something very, very rare.
(4) I won't be buying again from there unless it is something spectacularly rare.

Absolutely unacceptably slow shipping. It has been almost a month since payment and I have not even received a tracking number. For a 20% premium... that's just ridiculous. I can understand a week or two since there are a lot of items to process after a big auction, but not a month. I've never had such a frustrating experience from peer auction houses such as Rock Island and Centurion. If you seriously don't have the personnel to pack stuff out, then hire some more people! Hire temp workers if you have to!
I know I'm not the odd one out, just go over to their reviews on liveauctioneers. There

BEWARE. Large auction house with a huge ATTITUDE... nothing is ever their fault. They charge inflated buyer's premiums (23% in this case), over priced "handling" charges ($40 to box up a rifle), and are SLOW to ship (over a month after the auction and I still do not have the item). They even went so far as to try to keep the 3.5% credit card surcharge they tack on to every invoice, even when I paid by check. All the while, if you complain, they will claim that all their shady practices are defined in their terms and conditions, whether they are or not. Stay tuned... I'm sure

This auction house updates descriptions with lowered weights / purities on gold jewelry after receiving bids, then extorts you by saying your bid is still valid and to pay the buyers premium to get out of the deal. This is purely a scam and extremely unethical.
The fact that they're not accepting fault for a $800 difference in gold weight and immediately retracting the sale is atrocious.
I will never do business with this house again, period. I am in the jewelry business and will be sure to spread the word of extortions and misleading descriptions.
Horrible. Thanks @sierra with the auction

This is a very professional auction house. The people are polite, knowledgeable, honest and accommodating. Buyers are treated with respect and compassion. They get high prices for the items they sell. They are very well organized. They displays are like walking through a museum. The facility is comfortable, elegant, with great light, making it easy to see and evaluate the items being auctioned. Increments are consistent and predictable. If you are looking for high end items, this is the place to find them.

My boyfriend bid on a "painting" on Invaluable and won the lot from Morphy's Auction. It, to this day, still says "painting" in the description, but when he received the invoice it said "print". He called them to see which was correct and they said it was indeed a "print" so he told them he didn't want it because it was described as a painting. He got an attitude from the people there and was told it was his fault, when it absolutely was not. They put an unpaid item strike on his invaluable account and he has tried to get it off his account multiple times and they had the audacity to tell him if

Absolutely the most dishonest Auction House when it comes to their consignors. This is NOT the old James Julia. Terrible service, I receive monthly Calls from RIA for year's trying to consign my Antique Arm's and related, I thought I would try Morphy as I loved James Julia. A BIG MISTAKE!!! Terrible service, dishonest.

I find it hard to justify Morphy's EXCESSIVE shipping and handling charges. It seems to be DOUBLE there competitors.
Additionally, I followed a gun auction "live" through Proxibid. My gun closed at a bargain price. But when I was submitted the ending price through Morphy's, it was about $150 higher!
I called and asked about this and was told, "You can't go by Proxibid."
Very suspicious actions!
I will now no longer place 40-50 bids, as before. I will only bid on the items I really need, and will place lower bids. If I don't win, I still have others that are

If only it were possible to give zero stars. This auction house is a shady operation that will sell your won item to another buyer AFTER the hammer falls and bidding has ended if they don't like the hammer price. I was the acknowledged and legal winning bidder of a high ticket item sold at auction by Dan Morphy in June 2019, only to have the auction house sell the item to another buyer without my knowledge or consent after the auction ended. When confronted about their egregious conduct, Morphy initially played dumb. When proof (the bid history) was submitted to Morphy proving that I&apos

I have been buying firearms from Morphy's for many years and have found the merchandise being offered was top notch. There is usually something for everyone with items in all price ranges and condition. In the June 2018 auction I bought over $30000 worth of handguns for resale and I made a decent profit on everything overall. While no one likes a buyer's premium, if you are an experienced bidder, you just factor that into your bid. The buyer's premium is disclosed up front, so there are no surprises. I am lucky to live within 75 miles of the auction so we get a nearby hotel

I have been bidding in Morphy auctions for about 10 years and have always been very happy with the whole experience. I have also noticed that this auction house is no rinky dink operation, notably with their last auction where I was a successful bidder on almost $10,000 worth of rare antiques (very exciting stuff) where this auction had to have gone into the millions with rare pieces, large Tiffany sterling pieces for example with some lots going over $100,000 with very low starting bids. On this last occasion, a couple of small vinaigrette's from one of my winning lots had age cracks which

My first time at Morphy. On the upside the staff was nice. The auction Hall was comfortable and there weren't many people there.
But the preview facility was not good with guns stacked on top of each other in cardboard boxes, not all were like this but too many were. I would not be happy if those were my guns. All the cabinets are locked and you have to track someone down to open it each time you want to look at something, makes viewing a pain.
On the podium it looked like they had a couple kids running the live bidding computers. A couple times during the day it looked like they're about to

This auction house has tried for 2 years to run the grass valley show in california. . . both years have been a dud! one year i was a vendor/dealer and the following year i was a paying cujstomer. the show has failed big time. vendor and customer count is down and morphy's east coast business attitude does not fit with us out west! hope some of the old promoters will take it over and get it back on track to being the great / fun show it once was. .

I am truly amazed !!
In the summer of 2017, I sent an email to Morphy, with pictures of my radio and phonograph collection, perhaps a 1000 or more items.
Their expert was happy to have and sell my collection at auction, and Therese Hince, the director of sales promptly and completely answered all of my questions, through many email and telephone conversations.
I was sent a copy of the sale contract, which included the 25% sellers commission. This is the standard for better auction houses. I delivered my collection to Morphy and was informed that some items were not up to their standards and

I am sorry to see such poor reviews from other clients of Morphy Auctions. My experience with them was completely the opposite of what the majority wrote. I have bought items from their Dolls/Steiff/Toys auctions, and have never had a problem with the quality of the packing, or the charges. Being an on-line seller, I know how expensive, bubble wrap, packing peanuts and other means used to ship a parcel can be. In their last auction, I bought items which necessitated the use of five huge boxes. Each item was bubble wrapped over and over and over again. Then placed in boxes filled with packing

I have worked with Morphy Auctions for the past 5 years. I have been both a consignor and a buyer at their auctions. They are truly a top notch company. I don't typically write reviews on Google but I had to take a minute to share information on Morphy Auctions.
My first experience, 5 years ago, was as a phone bidder. I wasn't sure how the auction experience worked and I was thrilled and delighted with the time they took to explain the process to me. I received a phone call at home, at the time they told me they would call. The Morphy representative on the line was very courteous and professional

Good photos on the web but they don't disclose condition honestly enough. Shipping and packing charges are unreasonable. I was told items would be individually packaged for shipping, hence the high charge; but the deer-hair lures I bought was dumped into two bubble-wrap bags damaging the fragile deer hair. I don't like being lied to, and I don't like being gouged, and Morphy's did both.

After 3 weeks and a Friday bidding and tracking, I was high bidder. Hammer price for a set of plastic signs was $100 but $260 to my door! The real stinker; I needed just one part of seven signs in the set (bear on parachute/see past Morphy auctions,Oct 16, 2015, lot 5). While I was making payment, I was informed 'that' part was going to another buyer and that I should pay full price for much less than I bid on. No apologies, no price reduction, no consideration.I feel offended by such charlatan business practices.

Called for the first time two weeks ago spoke to a representative right immediately. Told her what I was interested in selling, the representative gave me another number (cell phone number - 610 area code). I called that number three times with no return calls back. So I've been trying to call back to Morphy Auctions (during normal business hours) all I keep getting is the general mailbox --left four messages there with no return calls. They must have more business then they know what to do with that no one needs to answer the phone and they don't need to return calls.

The 20 % buyers premium is outrageous. Purchased a collectible firearm from them and after giving them my payment information they called 2 more times demanding payment information. Provided federal license following the sale and they sat on everything for a week and claimed after 2 weeks they still don't know when they can process it "these things take time" I was told. Then they told they have to run background checks and that takes time. I have a Federal license. Overall it has not been a good experience.
