Many homeowners struggle every summer and fall trying to keep their grass alive. The Houston metro area has over 100 days annually where the daytime temperature is over 90 degrees. Trying to keep your grass alive and looking nice is almost impossible. Manual watering is very time consuming and is not nearly as effective as an automated sprinkler system.
Technically speaking, aeration is the naturally occurring process of air exchange between the soil and its surrounding atmosphere. Practically speaking, aeration is the process of mechanically removing small plugs of thatch and soil from the lawn to improve natural soil aeration. It's commonly called "core aeration" in the lawn service industry.
This was extremely rare, but it resulted in thousands of sprinkler systems being damaged since they had not been shut off and drained properly beforehand. However, I urge all of my customers to winterize their systems the first week of December. This time is when lawns and plants usually go dormant, but did you know your monthly sewer rates are prorated on your December through February water consumption?

I am in need of getting new lines added (trench/install) as we're expanding the grassy area in our backyard and will need to add some zones. In addition, we're looking at having somebody make minor repairs with the existing system. I was hoping to get a quote on how much it would cost, but unfortunately Mike was not willing to provide that for repairs. They just show up, do the work and bill you. If it was a new install, he said that they would provide a quote.

Eric came out at my request to figure out what was wrong with my sprinkler. He diagnosed the problem and worked on it for a few hours within my appointment window. One of my three non-functioning sprinkler zones could not be fixed in in my allotted time window (the wiring was a bit of a mess from a previous owner) and he showed up first thing the next morning to fix it. Will use Green Earth Sprinklers again if needed, I highly recommend them. Thanks Eric.
