We began in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh in 1935. My grandfather, Raphael Moio, had worked his way west from New York City once immigrating from Calabria, Italy, in 1913. After working as a chef in hotels, he finally settled in Pittsburgh, where he opened his own pastry shop. At that time, East Liberty (specifically the Larimer Avenue section) was our Little Italy.
His oldest son - my father, came into the business after returning from duty in WW2. We remained in East Liberty. In 1978, I hired a young salesgirl named Meg Owens, who would later become my loving wife. Moio's continued to grow and prosper. So, in 1991, I moved the store to its present location on Rt. 22 near the Turnpike entrance.

Everybody loves this Italian pastry shop! It's so friendly, the shop is so wonderfully decorated, the smell is enticing and the pastries are over the top fresh. Try the white cakes they are fabulous as well as a little Italian delight called pusties! Oh my so good. I get like four or five different pieces of desserts and share them with my family and we just love coming to this shop!

Amazing! Moio's has the best cake and pastries! AND, they treat people exceptionally well. Our grandson's christening cake was ordered at another bakery. When we went to pick it up, DAY OF CHRISTENING, the bakery was closed. I called Moio's. Tony had a beautiful and delicious cake made for us, with our choice of filling, icing, etc, in 2 hours! Moio's is excellent. Forever grateful and lifetime customer!

Moio’s is a family-run bakery that has been in business for several decades. They sell a wide variety of Italian desserts, including cakes for weddings and birthdays and many dozens of flavors of pastries, cookies, and pies.
In my first visit, I purchased a box of several desserts, including mandarin orange cake, carrot cake, apple strudel, almond tart, and pineapple tart. All of the desserts were fresh, moist, and flavorful. A chunk of plastic was somehow inside my carrot cake, and the owner kindly contacted me to make things right.

A big big thank you to Tony Moio! My family has loved Tony’s cake and pastries for years and it was an honor to be able to eat his cake on the day of my wedding and be able to share it with my husband’s family.
Tony went above and beyond to make sure we could have his cake for our big day. When I called him (a little late in the game due to postponed wedding COVID planning), he was already tight the weekend of our wedding, but he squeezed us in! We just had to do the pickup / delivery which was not a problem for us. The cake was a simple, beautiful 2 tier accompanied by sheet cake. The almond
