I went to school to become a physical therapist because of my own pain story (read that HERE). I wanted to share ways to help others shift out of their own pain story.

Did you know that in California, you don't need a doctor's referral to see a PT for an initial evaluation. In fact, you won't need a referral until 12 visits or 45 days (whichever comes first). Great for: Chronic pain, symptoms or injuries that are causing a major disruption in your life.
Persistent Pain: When pain persists past 3 months, it is then considered persistent (or chronic) pain. Not limited to what is listed below. A lot of what we can work on together, can be done remotely. So if you are traveling, or live on a boat, or just don't have time to make it to appointments, we can still work together.

I came to Tianna with continued shoulder pain nearly a year after rotator cuff surgery. [I had previously gone to a more traditional PT practice and found that approach not supportive to my experience (they were on a timeline for my recovery that I was not maintaining)]. I was encouraged with Tianna being a yoga instructor as well as a PT, as I suspected I might need multiple modalities to address both my shoulder issue, as well as pain from spinal stenosis.

I have worked with Tianna both virtually and in person and she is a very effective therapist regardless of modality. Tianna has given me some really good programs to work on my body healing from back pain and post partum incontinence issues so that now I can pick up my toddler without leaking or pain. I also spent the weekend shoveling dirt and mulch without a flare up of the back pain. As a Physical Therapist myself, I am often skeptical of the treatment that I receive but Tianna has the skills and expertise to help me come back into balance.

In late July 2019 I had a very bad fall which damaged my sacrum. I was in terrible pain and reached out to Tianna after searching the internet for a physical therapist who might work with Yoga or Pilates. Tianna turned out to be the perfect choice. She designed a special yoga routine specifically for my needs and the pain issues I was suffering with at the time. She was clear and decisive in interpreting my condition and prescribing the appropriate movements to help me heal. I am grateful for the overall wellness perspective she brings to her practice. I have worked with Tianna for several months coming out of a difficult and frustrating recovery from knee surgery. I first came to appreciate Tianna's effective teachings from taking her yoga class at Island Yoga in Alameda. But what really made me recognize her talents was when I sought her help with a chronic nagging hip pain. And her office's location across from yoga island made it all the better. I had the great pleasure of working with Tianna recently. I was dealing with chronic tightness in my shoulders and neck with considerable shoulder pain on one side. I found our work together to be very effective and motivating. What I enjoyed most about our online sessions was that I could meet her from home via my laptop, and never had any issues with the technology. I could always see and hear her clearly. I have persistent lower back pain from working in health care and having a 4-year old at home. I did the Extended Recovery Plan which consists of 4 visits over 4 months. Tianna provided me education, training, and tools which helped me manage my pain. After the final visit my pain continues to improve and I feel I have the training and knowledge to prevent further injuries.
Tianna is very responsive via email and her on line booking is very convenient (although the web browser Safari did not always work with her online booking platform, but when I used google chrome it worked fine).

Tianna is a life saver. I was walking my dogs through a crosswalk and a car ran me over. I spent a few days in the ICU. I fractured my skull, broke my leg, stretched and torn ligaments, and twisted my arm. I was told that there was a chance that I would never walk again, and then I was sent to physical therapy with Tianna. I saw her for four months. On my first visit, she made me cry because she was able to straighten my leg a few degrees. It was a long path, but there was a lot of damage. I saw her a few times a week and every time I gained strength and movement. With every doctor visit

Tianna is a genius Physical Therapist and wellness coach!!! I broke my elbow this summer and started to freak out when it began to lock-up after it had healed. I had serious pain trying to do the physical therapy myself. At our first session I went from -30 degrees movement to -15 degrees with NO PAIN. She is amazing, every session is like massage, not a difficult like past physical therapies. It's mind-blowing how easy and successful my physical therapy has gone. I'm currently at -5 degrees and a few sessions away from being 100%. I cannot say enough good things about her work.

Tianna is exceptional. I had severe neck pain after a trip to Portland to help with a grandson during the birth of his sister. When I returned I called Tianna and she was very accommodating seeing me the same day. She is very professional, compassionate, an excellent listener and provided a course of treatment which relieved the pain substantially the first treatment and completely within a few weeks. She also gave me guidance to help address lingering wellness issues which I had not connected to the pain. She is a true gem and I feel fortunate to have gone to her for treatment.

With neck and shoulder issues, I'd been looking for a yoga class and instructor who took injuries and limitations into consideration. I found this in Tianna and the Mind Body Movement. She's a PT and one of the most compassionate people I've ever met.
She has small classes, knows about everyone's issues and suggests modifications prior to the exercise. She made me feel that I could safely get back into yoga and I'm so grateful!

I am new to Alameda and was looking for a low impact class with a knowledgeable yoga instructor. I am an old guy that remains active and was not looking for a loud music, dance, leave exhausted and sweaty class. I dropped into Mind Body studio and found my yoga studio. Whenever I am in town, I go to class and leave feeling stretched out and energized. Tianna also rides her bike to class which makes her a winner. Do it.

Tianna is a wonderful yoga instructor.
She is kind and knowlegable . I've been taking instruction from her for several weeks now and can really see the improvement in my strength, limberness, and balance.
Tianna always has a work around when I can't do a certain move.
Her studio is really lovely; very calm and serene.
