Peruvian cuisine, considered among the best in the world, inherited its innovation, mix, and flavors from Peru's history. Its culinary fusion developed over a long process of cultural exchange between the Spanish, Africans, Chinese, Japanese, and Italians, among others. The dishes became more and more varied as races mixed and migrants landed at the port of Callao.
Our latest menu pays tribute to the diverse cultures in modern-day Peru. We chose to focus on the Japanese heritage in Peru and created a unique dining experience that is a fusion of Peruvian & Japanese cuisine. The culinary vision behind our new menu was a true collaboration of like-mindedness created by the friendship & the extensive experience of our own Chef Julio Cancho.

We were out to celebrate our anniversary and we were looking for a special place. We found a VERY special place in the Canggio restaurant! If you live in the Norwich area, or if you are tourists like us, you really will find delicious authentic Peruvian food with the best service. Our server and host, Emma, took the time to explain the Peruvian dinners and deserts. Everything is made from scratch the Peruvian way! Prices are reasonable and the food is delicious with a warm friendly atmosphere. Also, they have a nice bar. We highly recommend! And they support our veterans.

Very delicious! The service was fantastic and the owner of the restaurant walked around and greeted everyone and came back and asked how everything was going! It's a small hole in the wall but it's amazing food! You're definitely paying for great food with every plate! We had a variety of plates and the food was so delicious!

The service is very good, the prices are reasonable. The overall quality of the restaurant is outstanding, with attentive servers and a polite owner who makes an effort to connect with customers. The food is of outstanding quality, with an emphasis on the fusion of Peruvian cuisine and Italian cuisine. The drinks are likewise of excellent quality. The ambiance is quite pleasant. Eating at Canggio is always a favorable experience. The dessert offerings are exquisite. Their variety is ample.

SO GOOD! What a great staff and great food. We went before a show at Mohegan and I must say it was a wonderful vibe. We ordered the empanadas, mussels (MUST!!), dry rub wings were out of this world!
The ceviche and pork belly would not recommend. Mainly because I’m used to smaller pieces of fish and more tender pork belly.
We only ordered appetizers, so can’t speak to the entrees- but of course we got desert. The creme brûlée was great!
Looking forward to whatever the new bar and food menu look like!

Great ethnic style comfort food but also very cheffy and expertly and creatively prepared.
Super nice, friendly service. This is worth a ride - a real gem, and nice ambience for inside dining. We had chiciarronres, salads, the chicken special with yucca fries, and the mariscones. Out of the ordinary and very delicious.

I love this place! The drinks and appetizers were delicious. Have a pisco sour and the mussels definitely. We also had an appetizer that was a sashimi style fish...ceviche like. It doesn't seem to be on the online menus. It was so flavorful. The entrees were good, but not as impressive as the appetizers. (Arroz chaufa, Lomo Saltado)
Also it was warm in there...I try to not be one who needs ac to survive, but I was definitely too hot to be comfortable.

Great food, great service! The best meal we had in the area, while staying at the Spa at the Norwich Inn. The home made empanadas were amazing, the best we've ever had. The ceviche was delicious, and a very generous portion. The wings with the Peruvian spice rub was great! The mains were also great. We wanted to come back the next night, but could not get a reservation. We'll be back.

Just went here for Valentine's Day to try out a new place near us and I'm so glad that we did! First off the service was wonderful. Our waiter was very attentive and made great suggestions. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is really cozy and quaint. I was also watching some of the other patrons talking to and hugging the chef which was heart warming. Seeing that I felt like these are probably regulars then which is always a great sign of a restaurant.
We started off with the empanadas and the chicharron appetizer. Both were really good but I the empanadas were so delicious

Go support this local Business! This neighbor hood gem is truly the best addition to town in a long time.... food is excellent, service and staff are always on point, my only complaint is I wish the bar was a bit bigger but they're doing the best with what they have! You won't be disappointed here! Break away from your normal routine and check this place out. You'll become a regular!

Great place. Rose in a concrete jungle type area. The restaurant has a great ambiance and the arrangement of tables is suiting. I took four teenagers and my wife there for a birthday dinner and we all had different entrées. Everyone loved their food and the pork belly and empanadas as appetizers were delicious. It was a one man scene as far as the waiter went, and he did awesome. Will go again and recommend highly.

My husband and I stopped here for multiple reasons. First, everyone told us we should try it. Second, they supported a veteran hike that my husband was in. And they were so gracious and humble about it. Now to the review... oh dear Jesus, this was amazing! I absolutely love the atmosphere, the decor, and the staff. The waitress, hostess and everyone we encountered held customer service above and beyond. Norma and Steven were spectacular. We had a delicious pisco sour - made the real way, and delicious wine. We had two appetizers that were just fabulous: Yakitori with meat skewers and empanadas

I've been going to Canggio since they opened. It is literally one of the best restaurants Norwich has to offer. Let me start with their saying, their wine and beer selection is great and always changing (whether it be new local drafts or local wines). Their craft cocktails are amazing and unique, using things like pisco, Peruvian hot peppers, elderflower and many other specialty ingredients. The appetizers/ starters are phenomenal, many of them recipes from Peru and other South American counties. The ceviche is my favorite by far, the taste is so authentic. The main courses are also great

I had been hearing good thing about Canggio for months and I am sorry it took me so long to visit! We had a wonderful time from start to finish. We were so excited by the food that it was hard to rein my tablemates in long enough to take pictures. We started off with the complimentary canchitas (Peruvian popcorn) and quickly ordered multiple appetizers since so many were quite appealing:
-calamari were perfectly fried.
-chicharron consistency was slightly uneven: some were crisp while the others were a bit chewy, but the combination with the sweet potato wedges, red onion, salad, and sauces made
