Seattle Mattress Company is an expansion of Canvas Supply Company - one of the oldest companies in the Seattle area dating back to 1882; and we are still a family owned & operated company that thrives on keeping things local and supporting our local communities. Canvas Supply Company manufactures our Seattle Mattress Company brand mattresses, and is located in Ballard not far from the Seattle Mattress Showroom.
Our own, locally made in Ballard, SMC brand beds are available in standard King, California King, Queen, Full, Twin and XL Twin sizes; and as Innerspring, Talalay Latex solid core and/or Memory Foam options. These mattresses can also be customized to whatever size, shape or firmness/comfort level you need.
Seattle Mattress has partnered with the locally-franchised Therapedic manufacturing plant in Auburn, WA - a second-generation plant operated by three daughters of the founder, it originally opened its doors in Seattle in 1957. Now you can buy a locally-made Therapedic mattress loaded with quality for a great price and support local jobs!
Located outside of Florence, Italy - Magniflex International is 1 of 2 mattress brands on our floor not locally produced in Washington State, but they do fullfill a demand to offer more environmentally-friendly mattress options.

Maybe it was an off day for them, I walked there with my dog, was sold a mattress that broke down where I sit and watch TV, used pillows to even it out, they did come, got the broken one, put in a new one. Chipped my woodwork during installation.
The mattress is so heavy I can't move it to make the bed, so I sleep on top of the mattress with blankets, can't move it to put on sheets. Yes, two young men can move it, I am 70 yrs old with arthritis, doing what I did when I was 20 years old doesn't happen anymore------things change with age, it might be hard for young people to realize

I can't imagine buying a bed and not trying it out. And these guys have a great selection of mattresses to try and helpful sales team to direct you beds based on your preferences and sleeping type. Additionally, they are a LOCALLY owned, small business -- which is really where I prefer to spend my dollars. Bonus: we bought a tempur-pedic that is made in Auburn, WA!

Came here from the website because it read much more honest than anything else I could find from a mattress seller. In the store was the same, Alex wasn't pushy, was knowledgeable, and honest about the contents of the mattress.

Don't know about you but I don't have tons of time to drive around laying on mattresses in busy Seattle traffic, esp. during a pandemic. So I visited Seattle Mattress, & told them what I need for a good night's sleep. They recommended 2-3 options within my budget, and within 20 minutes, I'd ordered one. It was delivered the next business day. I didn't need to surf endlessly online, research a bunch, OR drive across town. Their 139 years should tell you something as well. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

This review is for the mattress I purchased two years ago, and also for the store experience. I've purchased a mattress there in 2018 taking quite a bit of time to select what I thought was the correct one. Seems like a theme with a lot of people writing reviews where they've been sleeping on this horrible old mattress for 15 or 20 years and that was the case with me. Seattle Mattress Co is incredible! They are a family run business and have a long history in Ballard. We ended up purchasing one of their locally made in-house mattresses. We've slept on it for a few months now. It was well priced, great quality and one of the best mattresses I've purchased. We also purchased a sheet set from them, highly recommend. Their delivery team was fantastic. Of course, this purchase and delivery was made prior to COVID 19 concerns and shut downs. Thanks again for everything!

Have been sleeping on a latex mattress made-to-order by Seattle Mattress Company for just over a year now. Best bed ever. It was an upgrade over a mattress from one of the well known direct-to-consumer brands, which was good value and comfortable enough, but the difference in comfort and quality of sleep is undeniable.
I remember our main salesperson was very courteous and helpful, and got some assistance from another staff member who was more curmudgeony but in a sort of friendly way. This was pre-pandemic and I hope they are all doing alright, as we hope to be able to shop there again.

Amazing 24 hour turnaround from template to installation for a custom mattress on our boat!!! I visited Canvas Supply in Ballard on a Friday to inquire about repair of some canvas panels on our raised pilothouse motor yacht and off-handedly asked if they knew of any custom mattress shops that could build a new mid-ship master queen mattress for our boat. Unbeknownst to me they have a sister company Seattle Mattress manufacturing custom mattresses on an adjacent premises to their canvas shop. After a personal tour of the facility they directed us to their retail store on 15th Ave in Ballard to check

My husband and I have been very happy with our experience in both the purchase and delivery of our mattresses. This review is overdue as we have returned multiple times over the past couple of years for a total of 5 purchases. Our first purchase was a new mattress & boxspring for our daughter. We returned a year later and purchased a mattress & boxspring for ourselves - one that has different firmnesses on the left and right as my husband and I had differing opinions/preferences. Bought a bed on closeout from from them yesterday. Kayla helped us dismantle the bed for transport. After an hour or so we were all loaded out and headed out. Couple of miles down the road we get this call from Kayla telling us we needed to go back as we left the footboard. Kudos to Kayla for great customer service, above and beyond.

Picture this: you're finally moving out of an old, moldy apartment (one where your POS landlord never really took your complaints seriously, despite mold growing on the walls). Last thing to move out of the truck to your new place is your mattress. You notice a dark area under the mattress cover, remove the cover and BAM, covered in mold. Completely ruined. Your friends mention the Seattle Mattress company which is gloriously a half a mile away. I was in a real bind because I only had one more day on my current apartment lease and the mover I had hired to move me to another apartment in my complex had bailed on me leaving with a broken bed frame. I tore off to Seattle Mattress, asked if I could have same day delivery and have the workmen put together the new frame. The woman manning the desk couldn't have been nicer. Set it all up, the mattress people came at

We got ours about 9 months ago, and love it! We bought two adjustable beds with latex mattresses. My husband got a slightly softer one than mine, and then discovered he needed something firmer. We called and they arranged the switch happily and swiftly, and now he sleeps as well as I do. They were great in terms of knowing about their products and checking on things we asked afterwards.

We bought a queen size pocketed coil innerspring SMC own brand mattress and box spring. They delivered it after airing it out for us. No smell whatsoever. Very nice firm yet comfortable mattress with no creepy chemicals, gels or memory foam.
Highly recommend their SMC brand.

My review 3 years ago would have been much better than my review today. We purchased a mattress from them 3 years ago this month. By the end of year two, our mattress had begun to sag in the middle and my wife and I rolled towards each other giving us both bad back aches in the morning. We rotated the mattress faithfully to try to find a way for it to work. About 3 weeks ago, I went to ask Tony about a warranty and he said we had a 20 year warranty so we're good. I am long overdue in writing my review but this place is amazing. First off, Tony is excellent and was VERY helpful and knowledgeable. There was no pressure to buy and he was very patient with us. We had some issues with delivery but these guys went above and beyond for us. I live in a townhouse with narrow stairways and the bed frame we bought would simply not fit through the stairwell. After going over some options, the owner came out to my house and suggested hoisting the frame over the balcony. The next day, he personally arrived with a team of burly dudes to help make it happen. Just purchased my 3rd mattress from this company in less than 6 months. Needed to replace twin mattresses for my kids. Initially shopped here with my daughter, then comparison shopped at other big brand stores, and daughter even noticed quality and dollar value better at Seattle Mattress Store! My family has furnished two houses and a condo with mattresses from Seattle Mattress Company. Each time we have been extremely pleased with the selection, price and service.
The staff is extremely friendly and never tries to oversell you. They are honest with you if they think you are spending more than you need to. Nevertheless, their prices are cheaper than other stores, especially for add-ons like waterproofing.
Our cabin has a few built-in beds and Seattle Mattress Company made custom mattresses for each one. They are very accommodating and great to work with. I can't recommend them

Due to losing my previous bed because of an evil apartment and mold situation, I found myself in the market again.
It's been a few years, and just because a place was good before doesn't mean it has stayed that way.
Lucky for me, this place STILL is the best I've found. The staff is actually the same as a few years ago and my favorite, Steve, is still there. Troy, my new sales guy, is also excellent and hand carried my mattress to deliver down the street and up 2 flights of stairs so I could have my new bed the same day.
I won't buy from anyone else.

Most of their mattresses are made locally by Canvas Supply Company, one of the oldest companies in the Seattle. Canvas Supply Company is a family owned and operated company since 1882. Their other mattresses in the shop come from Serta (locally made in Puyallup) and Therapedic (locally manufactured in Auburn). If it's important to you to shop local, you'd be hard pressed to get more local than this.
