MenaRick Vineyard & Winery
MenaRick Vineyard and Winery is a family owned vineyard and winery located on 40 acres nestled in the foothills of the Yadkin Valley. We invite you to come, relax and enjoy the view from our vineyard, have a glass of wine (or bottle) and bring a picnic! Good wines made with a majority of Spanish and Portuguese grapes.

Great owners that are passionate about their wines, and who are fun and interesting to share a glass on the patio with. Excellent little winery hidden away in the NC farm country. They make Portuguese style wines which are unusual for this area, fuller bodied with depth and character. The place is pretty and overlooks the vineyards from the porch, lots of feels from Spain and such areas.

The two hosts were fantastic but there was something waaaay off with the wine, two of them even had a cloudiness that would indicate some sort of bacterial issue. The property itself was lovely but they need help with the wine making process.

This appears as a smaller winery. The host was talkative and helpful. There are more reds than whites at this winery. I enjoyed the Blackberry, the newly released Malbec and the Grenache.

Wonderful serviceā€¦it was very interesting to listen to the owner team about building the building, the cicada infestation of last year, and the Kitty-cats!

The owners were very nice, thus the reason for the 2 stars instead of just 1. I'm not sure what other wines these other reviewers are comparing them to, but the wines at MenaRick weren't very good. All of the reds, particularly the Merlot and the Portuguese Varietal, were offensive on the nose, and only slightly better on the palate. One white was drinkable, the Blanca, but neither were worth buying. Also, the tasting (a flight of 5 wines) was extremely overpriced, something I only discovered after I drank them, because of my own oversight. They charged $18 per flight, which they justified by considering

MenaRick is set in rolling hills overlooking the vineyard. The tasting room is a beautiful cabin and the owner is extremely hospitable.
Now on to the wines. I am a fan of dry reds- Rick has nailed this category on the head.
The Touriga, Syrah, and Tempranillo are my favorites- hosting a full bodied palate that stays true to its style. The sweet and white wines also have quite the reputation- Peach being one of his top sellers! Rick is very knowledgable of the process and is great at giving you all the detail you want! If you have not tried out MenaRick, it is definitely a must-try.

Ok, bear with me as I'm playing catch up on a few reviews! :)

I visited MenaRick with a girlfriend on November 17th. We were popping into a few places to try wines and enjoy views.

I love that MenaRick's style of winemaking sticks pretty strictly to the Spanish style. Their wines were very tasty, and we really enjoyed our time there. Rick started our tasting as we were there before a few parties came around. They had a lovely cat who had a cozy seat by the fireplace. All around, this place is rustic, homey, with a very pretty view, and a good example of what NC wines can be!

Dry wines...but good wimes. The owner/winemaker was really awesome...super friendly and knowledge, made me think of Tim the winemaker at Slightly Askew, just makes you feel right at home. The place is pretty and overlooks the vineyards from the porch, lots of feels from Spain and such areas.

Great experience! I enjoyed speaking with the owner Rick. I was going there to get one bottle of something I wanted to try. I ended up tasting all of the wines and went home with several bottles not just one. Since I don't live near there I'm just going to have them delivered. The wines taste is exactly the new taste I was looking for, thank you :).

Let me start by saying that I spent a few weeks in Italy in July, and this vineyard blew some of those out of the water. The wines were delicious (in fact I couldn't even decide on one, so we left with 4!) and the staff was very warm, welcoming & knowledgeable. We stayed long after the tasting was over just chit chatting.

You also cannot beat the price. We did a tasting which included a sample of every wine on the menu and a cute MenaRick wine glass for only $10.

With so many vineyards around, make sure you stop by this one for a visit! Cheers!

This is a really nice family owned winery. We visited recently and the owners made us feel so welcome, as if they were hosting us in their own home. The wines were delightful and fit right in with the beautiful and friendly atmospheric. They have many estate grown varietals that I had not tried before and are not found at many other local vineyards which was fun and exciting. Highly recommend anyone stop in for a tasting!

Excellent service! Very pretty wine tasting room. They invited us to bring a picnic and our dog. Sadly, they don't serve food. We really liked the wine. Very unique European approach. The owners are educated and friendly. We loved the simplicity of the operation. They tend the vines themselves and make the wine. Understated location but very worth the visit.

Wine Tour Stop #1: MenaRick Vineyard & Winery

A vineyard specializing in Spanish and Portuguese wines, the tasting room definitely reflects this. We were able to sample 11 wines for $10 which included the glass. My personal favorites were the Touriga Nacional, Rosalina (a blend) and the Peach. My group ended up grabbing a glass of wine after the tasting for $8 and sat outside to enjoy the beautiful views.

Rick was awesome during our tasting, super friendly and knowledgable. Not a fan of Mena, she was a bit rude. While checking out the machine messed up and she was not pleasant to deal with

If you are looking for a great family-owned winery with a smaller feel to it, MenaRick is the place to go!
My husband and I received a great tasting of their ten wines from Mena, who owns the winery with her husband, Rick (hence the name).
They make a great Portuguese style wine, Tempranillo, as they have Portuguese roots.
Not only was the wine great, so was the conversation!
It has a smaller feel to it than Raffaldini but it was great to see how they can still hold their own.

This is got to be hands down my favorite winery in all of North Carolina. I have finally found a winemaker who's red's do not have that "North Carolina taste". I'm not sure if you guys understand what I'm talking about, but every North Carolina red I have tried up to this point has had a specific taste no matter the varietal.
As most of the other yelpers have previously pointed out, the Vineyard specializes in Spanish and Portuguese varieties. This day we sampled two white wines, an AlbariƱo $24 and a Vinho Branco $21 (a white Portuguese table blend). Of the two

Excellent little winery hidden away in the NC farm country. Grow their own grapes and turn them into some decent wine. They make Portuguese style wines which are unusual for this area, fuller bodied with depth and character.
Friendly, knowledgeable folks. The kind of place you can brings some friends for a picnic, a winery and not a "show place".

For good wines and enjoyable experience, this is a great place to stop. Owners were great hosts. We arrived with a large group (1st tasting of a Sunday morning) and everyone got one-on-one attention and pleasant chats after the tasting. Rick is a knowledgeable winemaker with an easy manner in sharing his love of wines.

There was an interesting range of wines to find what you liked. The ties to Spanish and Portuguese grapes worked for me and I came home with a collection of bottles. Our favorites were the Albarino, Syrah, and the Blackberry but we honestly enjoyed them all.

I recommend a visit

A charming vineyard owned by really special people,Rick & his wife Mena. They offered us some truly special wines there was a red that we all said we had never tasted anything like that before I believe it was the Touriga. Outstanding. I dont want to spoil the surprise but Rick does something amazing with lemon peel!!! I was afraid I wasnt going to like the fruit wines that they would be too sweet, but like he says "you can taste the fuzz on the peach" they were all so fresh tasting not at all sweet or cloying. Such friendly people, just lovely!!!

Best wine in the Yadkin Valley with the two best owners in the Yadkin Valley. Seriously.

When you are in the area, don't miss this one. They have a fantastic staff who refer to themselves as "wino children" of the owners. We brought a picnic and had a nap under some trees near the vineyard.

The owners, Rick and Filomena, make no bones about the fact that their Spanish and Portuguese inspired wines are different than anywhere else in the valley, and boy are they right. Very tasty wines, awesome conversation, and great ambiance await you at MenaRick. They are picnic friendly, so we brought a blanket and some sandwiches to enjoy with great wines, views, and people. Very friendly winery cats as well!

Popped into MenaRick this past weekend for the first time. It is not hard to find at all - located right near Elkin.

There are beautiful vineyards all around you on the hillsides, a pond, barn and cozy tasting room with lots of windows looking out on the beautiful view. There are tables inside and out to linger and have a bottle of wine.

The neighbor pups came running up at some point and delighted us with their antics. Such a fun time!

We went for a Low Country Boil and had a tasting as well. Everything was made on site and was so fresh and delicious! There is a wide variety of wine

Great little mom and pop vineyard!

Some friends and I went crawling around the vineyards over the weekend and this place was our first stop. I'm going to go ahead and preface this by saying that I am not anywhere near being a wine geek so when it comes to wines I'm fairly clueless. That being said though, Filamena and Rick (the owners) or this vineyard were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating when it came to explaining the different types of wines they have and their particular process in making them.

Right now, they have a selection of 5 different types of wine however
