Being Yoga is a place to come to explore what Yoga can do for you. Whether you are a first time Student who has never practiced before, or a seasoned Yogi, we invite you to experience something special. Our Studio, Teachers, and Staff are warm and welcoming, and we offer an inclusive environment where people are respected and valued for who they are.
We look forward to meeting you. In our spacious Studio, you will find a variety of yoga styles, ranging from Bikram-inspired hot yoga (90 minutes and 60 minutes) to active, non-heated classes, to more relaxing, therapeutic styles. The Studio is open for in-person classes. San Mateo County now requires that Students, Teachers and Staff wear a mask at all times while in the Studio.

Services
Being Yoga was formed in 1998 and has been operating in the same general location since that time. Originally founded as a Bikram studio, the class offerings have been expanding to include a variety of yoga styles beyond Bikram-inspired hot yoga. Several of our instructors and staff and many of our Students have been with Being Yoga for a very long time which helps us foster a sense of community and family.
Cell phones should be turned off or silenced; keys and other distracting items should be placed in bags or left in the front of the Studio or the locker rooms, so as not to distract others. Be mindful of yours and others' space, and keep the locker rooms and bathrooms neat and orderly. If you must leave the class early, please do so between postures and make eye contact with the teacher.
The practice of Yoga is meant for everyone regardless of age, body type, athletic ability, or prior experiences. Yoga practitioners come in all shapes and sizes. Then you likely will benefit from Yoga even more! Yoga is designed to help open people up both physically and mentally. Physically tight people will receive great benefits from the postures even if they are only able to attempt the movements.
For students who have never practiced at Being Yoga before, and live locally in the Bay Area. We invite you to try Being Yoga for 14 days of unlimited Yoga. Students new to Yoga are welcome as almost all of our classes are beginner-friendly. Try a range of heated and non-heated classes to get to know us and figure out what practices are best for you.
Class reservations are not required but are strongly recommended to guarantee a spot. There is a 24 HOUR CANCELLATION POLICY, after which the reserved class will still be deducted or a $10 charge will be assessed for Students with unlimited memberships. WAITLISTS are available for classes that are full.

I came to this studio for my first yoga class in 2016 and had an experience in the beautiful Bikram heat that made me realize something profound about myself and my healing. I’m thankful to the owners, staff and powerful teachers for sharing the love as I began my yoga practice. The teacher Erin B along with many beautiful teachers make this studio stand out and have lifelong memory. I highly recommend Being Yoga to all levels of practitioners! Namaste!

Avid yogini, new to SF, looking for a yoga home.. I was met with a very offputting attitude as soon as I walked in. I had to pull every bit of information out of the woman at the front desk (who clearly did NOT want to be there) including member rates, new student specials, if there were showers, etc. I ended up leaving.
I was also able to see the ending of the current class through the big glass window. Let me tell you what I saw: the instructor ending the class & walking out of the studio as she ROLLED HER EYES.
I had only been in SF for 4 days. Just looking for an environment of like minded

Okay admittedly I found the space and classes to be too crowded, and the thought of people sweating on me made me cringe, but all of that faded as each challenge disappeared- you learn this through yoga and experience. Now what makes this space fantastic is the crowd- the staff and teachers are very loving and caring- you don't find that just anywhere. That is Being Yoga. Go try it for yourself, but don't treat it like a workout, instead be open to ask questions and interact with the staff, teachers, and your fellow yogis. You may be surprised what you find. Enjoy and yoga on.
