Services
Dover Veterinary Hospital is a full-service animal medical facility, serving pets and their owners throughout the Seacoast region of New Hampshire and towns in Southern Maine, including Berwick, Eliot, Kittery and York. The veterinary hospital in Dover, NH wants to provide the best care that modern veterinary medicine has to offer.
There are a few things that make New England unique: work ethic, the beautiful landscape and commitment to community. Community involvement is not only important to the success of our towns and cities, but is also vital to the success of our veterinary practice. The doctors and staff of Dover Veterinary Hospital know that our success comes with the responsibility and the desire to give back to the communities that have been so supportive of us.
At Dover Veterinary Hospital, we believe that prevention is the key to your pet's long term health and a step towards minimizing the lifetime cost of care. This means routine wellness exams, vaccinations, regular lab work, deworming and fecal checks, as well as medications to prevent heartworm, fleas and ticks.
Radiographs, or X-rays, are one of the most common and useful diagnostic tools in medicine. At Dover Veterinary Hospital, we use X-rays to examine your pet's bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity and other areas and for diagnosing and monitoring many medical and surgical conditions. If we suspect your pet has a fractured bone, has swallowed a foreign object, or is suffering from a heart problem, an X-ray can tell us what we need to know.
Pets have dental diseases and problems just like people do. Regular dental check-ups at Dover Veterinary Hospital, combined with good dental hygiene at home, can increase your pet's health, vitality and well-being, and help ensure your pet leads the best life possible.

If left untreated, dental disease can not only be painful and inhibit proper nutrition, but it can also lead to serious systemic issues that may threaten your pet's overall health before symptoms are noticeable. For those reasons, the Dover veterinary team strongly considers dental care an important piece of your dog's or cat's preventive health care program.

I have known Dr S since early 2015. She helped me with my boy, Happy, to the very end; even taking care of his remains until he came home for good. Dr S met and took care of Moemoe Happy (my very first rescue). Things changed, but not Dr S. Dr S was there to take care of Moemoe Happy's remain with the same love, care, and respect until he came home to me for good. There are no words to describe how grateful and appreciative I am of Dr S. Dr Lee Spyridakis has a heart of gold who really loves animals.

Always take good care of our pups. They offer reasonable solutions instead of just saying what we HAVE to do. Good at working with our other specialists too.

I have been through some crazy highs and lows with my rescue cat, Midna. Dr McCarthy and the staff of DVH have been absolutely amazing throughout every moment. Recently, my cat took very ill and needed to be referred to a 24 hour care facility. Dr McCarthy called me every day, even though Midna wasn’t directly in her care at the time. I felt cared for and looked after, as well as my cat haha. The entire staff at DVH has shown such compassion, care, and professionalism in a truly turbulent time. I am forever indebted to their large hearts and caring hands.

Dr Josh gave sooo much of his time and you can tell he really cares. I appreciate how COVID safe and organized they were. I can’t tell you how refreshing it was that they weren’t out just to rack up a high vet bill. These are hard financial times for everyone. I’m not sure if they knew I was in a pinch, but they walked though the necessary things… that my fur baby absolutely needed and the things could wait. Honesty is hard to find. It’s as if most vets give unnecessary procedures to animals in order to cover their hide because of fear of lawsuits. I’m glad

Dover Veterinary is an excellent practice. Their vets are on the ball. Also, during social distancing, they come out to you in the parking lot to collect your pet. The vet comes out to talk to o you after exam. They also bring needed meds out to you. We've been taking our sweet kitty there for years. Now that she is a senior cat with serious health issues, their care and sensitivity is welcome. Only five stars because ten is not an option.

I would just like to take a minute and say thank you to Dover Veterinary Hospital. Today was hard for me. Going to pick up Aryan's ashes, I wasn't sure what to expect. They were the ONLY place that followed my… wishes while staying in my price range. When I got him back I was overcome with emotions, I was with so happy with what I got. It brought tears to my eyes. The dignity and respect they treated my fur baby with was incredible and I will never forget that. He may have only been 6 lbs but they knew he was a huge part of our family and they treated him accordingly. It truly meant so much

I could not be more thrilled with Dover Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Spyridakis. We have a 5 year old pup that was diagnosed with liver disease when he was about 2 years old. He's had fairly frequent relapses for the last couple of years and prior vets were consistently treating his symptoms as just back pain even though we had relayed other symptoms that seemed to suggest something else might be going on. We bought a house and needed a vet closer to our new home which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we found Dr. Spyridakis. For the past several years we have had to change

These guys were great with my ornery cat. The wellness checkup was thorough and reasonably priced. There was a little upselling involved but they were forthcoming about what was necessary and what wasn't.

This is a great, very reasonably priced, honest veterinary hospital. After having a horrific experience at Stratham Newfield's Veterinary Hospital which resulted in me having to euthanize my beloved five year old black lab due to their incorrect labs and negligence, I was terrified of finding another vet for my family's new puppy. My previous dog had been treated at Port City, an emergency animal hospital, and they all suggested Dover Vet., as these professionals being THEIR pets here. I can't believe the service I've received thus far. Caring, thoughtful doctors and staff who

Excellent doctors, vet techs & office staff. Very holistic. In our experience they don't recommend interventions unless really needed, and they review all options fully including price. We switched here from another practice in Portsmouth/Rye and there is definitely a difference (for the good) in quality of care. They are very knowledgable and truly care for our dog. Even if it is more expensive (i'm not sure that it is though, but responding to the other review), I know that our dog is in great hands and feel confident in their care and recommendations. Recommend highly.
