Zack's Oak Bar & Restaurant

Moved back to NJ recently and have yet to establish all the favorites we had back where we called home - the special occasions, local gems or the neighborhood kitchens where they just knew what you meant when you said "mild." Having said that, we absolutely love Zack's. The staff, the drinks and the short rib spring rolls (make sure you get them!!) make this place a solid 5. Definitely a Hoboken gem.

I've walked by Zack's so many times and finally decided to go there for dinner. There's a small dining area in the back and a bar in the front and they offer heated outdoor seating options which is nice for warmer days!

I ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich which was super tasty and filling. It came with mushroom, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers and onions, balsamic vinegar, I asked to substitute that for garlic aoili, on a crispy but soft ciabatta bread. My friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich that came with apple coleslaw. Both meals came with fries and a pickle

Great service, food and drinks, and ambiance! Came here with my in laws and partner and we had a lovely night. Steak + fries, balsamic chicken and short rib were VERY good! great cocktails and well priced wine. Would return.

Always great food and atmosphere! They have the best boneless buffalo wings and sauce outside of my home time I've had! It's spicy but with a tangy bbq twist. Salad choices are fresh and delicious and the bao buns are amazing. Highly recommend for dinner, lunch or brunch!

I went in for dinner today, ordered a cocktail, burata cheese & finally a brisket blend burger.
The food was delicious, the burata cheese was tasty & the burger was made to perfection.
The staff was super nice.
I highly recommend to make reservations if you are a group of 3 people or more since the place fills up quickly.
Nit cheap, but well worth it in my opinion.
Will definitely come back again, I heard they also have a great brunch ,worth checking out 😁

OK people, I know I have been raving mad about other sandwiches but this one might be our new reigning champion. Read on...

Pros: Thin, crispy chicken with a nice (but not overwhelming) amount of hot honey. Spicy? Slightly. But not TOO spicy. Sweet? Yes, but not TOO sweet. Kind of like me? But, I regress...

Also the apple slaw is redunkulous. I first read it and thought "Say what", and once I took a bite into that soft pillowy roll, I realized this is not your ordinary chicken sandwich.

Again, I have to put this into the "class by itself" category, like some of my other reviews

Came here for brunch on a Saturday at 11am. Not too busy but we made a reservation. Really nice place with white table cloths on the tables! Lots of outdoor seating.

I got the steak and eggs for 21. Came with home fries. Steak was pretty big for a brunch steak and was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I ate everything on my plate. Zack's is a nice find. Great service, good food and a romantic ambiance.
Appetizer: Pork Belly Bao Buns- they were ok. The
bao was a bit flat but had good great flavor.
Entrees: Braised Short Rib was very tasty! I can see why it's a popular dish.
Saffron Shrimp Risotto is absolutely delicious! It's creamy, well seasoned and a great portion.

Very good food. Lots of things on the menu I'd like to try, so we'll be back! The bar area had an old school steakhouse vibe, and was a good spot to hang out. Wine selection is limited, but large enough for us to find something (a couple of bottles, actually) that we liked.

Extremely disappointed. I've lived in the area and Zack's has always been a staple. Last night, I ordered the Brisket Burger (take-out) and upon returning home I discovered that instead of the Brisket Burger, I was given a plain hamburger patty with lettuce and a bun. I called and was told to come back with the burger and they would sort it out. Once I got there, I was told that the CHEF (not management) refused to change my meal because the order ticket said "Classic Burger" instead of Brisket Burger. The food was spectacular!! My boyfriend found this place and made reservations for brunch. Everything was so good all the way down to the mimosas!

We split the BLT and Mac cheese.

The BLT was so tasty! Even the fries were perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the bacon because it had like a fire pit smoked taste to it and they put the garlic aioli on it which made it even more tastier.

Mushroom soup was very good! And the Parmesan bread that came along was great. Mimosas was really good too! The perfect blend

Went with a group for brunch, reasonably priced for how delicious the food is and how nice the seating is.
I would recommend making a reservation, since I didn’t and had to wait around 30 minutes.
With the Brunch menu, the steak and eggs was very good and the large portion was quite filling. However, the Mac and Cheese cheese was AMAZING and I could safely say it was one of the Mac and cheese dishes I’ve ever had.
5 stars, would highly recommend.

So I met a friend of mine for brunch here. I made my reservations online for 12:30pm. When I arrived I parked on the street fairly quickly. I walked up and the hostess greeted us and sat us. She sat us in the corner inside and said there is a 90 minute limit for tables. Mackie was our server and she was nice. For my drink I ordered a spiked coffee drink and my friend ordered a mimosa. The drink wasn't bad, didn't taste any liquor at all. For my entrée I ordered the chicken and waffles and my friend ordered the salmon salad special. My meal wasn't bad at all, I liked the waffles more than the chicken

Got the brisket burger and some Kane head high on tap. Super good would go again. Varied menu and prompt service (went during the week). Would recommend to anyone!

The first thing I noticed about Zack's was the friendliness of the stafff. I was greeted with a great big smile and I immediately felt welcome. Servers were attentive and had a positive attitude.

The food was pretty good. I got the salmon benedict for brunch and had some of the chilaquiles. I saw the breakfast burrito and was surprised by how large it was. Next time I may try the burrito.

The drink I ordered was mediocre. I had a coffee and baileys based cocktail and it was very diluted in flavor and weak in alcohol. It did not taste good.

Had a reservation for 9 pm. Came in at 8.50. While a long line of tables was open outside (with few inside as we found later) we were told we have to come back at 9 as there are a lot of reservations. We looked at rows of empty tables (see pic) and went to the car. Came back at 9 and the situation with tables didn't change. No ppl. Hostess was not welcoming and showed us attitude for no reason.

The food and ambiance is always great. Service was a little slow for Sunday brunch. However the food made up for it! We had the farmer’s breakfast and the eggs Benedict- super tasty. The home fries had a nice surprise to them.. they were mixed in with sweet potatoes!! ( not my partners favorite) But I thought they were so delicious! The mimosas were alright.

Came for a late lunch and decided to sit at the bar. Michael, the bartender is awesome! Very personable, friendly, and attentive. He was able to create drinks around my grapefruit obsession lol. All of my drinks were 10/10. The menu for lunch had a good number of choices from salads to sandwiches to entrees. Tried the calamari for starters. I wasn't a huge fan of the coating on the calamari not exactly what I'm used to. Seemed a little heavier than normal but despite that it was delicious! Always been a fan! I hadn't been back in a while so I'm glad I stopped in on a Tuesday to grab dinner! We had the avocado pear salad (my fav), mussels app and each ordered entrees. My friend had the shrimp/scallop special and I had a cheese burger. I loved everything - she thought the special was just ok and wanted a more buttery lemon sauce taste. First time here and the service didn't convince me to return. Multiple staff walked by not even acknowledging us. Appetizers took way too long, in fact I ate my entree before my appetizer ever came. It was clear our server kept forgetting to put it in even though I mentioned it every time he passed. I was full by time it finally arrived and I was too upset to deal with the hassle of sending it back and making a big deal - I just wanted to pay and leave. I actually gave it 3 stars because the food was at least good.

We hosted out of town family here for dinner Friday June 11, 2021. We seat out side we were a group of 13. We had a very pleasant experience. The food was good. Service was timely. The wait staff was pleasant, attentive and accommodating.

Best Truffle fries in town!! Zack's has a nice cozy vibes which perfect for a date night. Humble staff and delicious food. Must try asparagus stuffed chicken and brisket burger.

An absolute NEVER AGAIN for me...

My bf went to the ER at Hoboken Uni Medical, so while he received medical treatment I waited in our car--as I was prepared to do--and eventually got hungry. I checked Yelp for places in the area I could walk to and found Zack's. It was literally around the block from where I parked on Clinton and the ratings looked good.

Came here for a Sunday brunch around 10am and it wasn't too crowded and I was easily able to make a reservation. This spot is right on 3rd and Willow, so not too far from downtown but still away from all the noise.
The coffee was just okay, wasn't too memorable. I had the baked eggs for brunch and I thought it was pretty good! It has spinach, artichokes, marinara sauce, burrata and eggs over easy. It also came with a side of parmesan toast. Overall, I'm happy with my experience here.

Dined at Zack's for the second time last Saturday for brunch. I made a reservation here because I liked the outdoor dining setup for COVID safety. Even in the 37 degree weather, we were comfortable with the heater setup. It had rained that morning and the tables and chairs were wet when we arrived. No one was sitting outside so I was originally worried that we wouldn't be able to sit outside. However the hostess said it was no problem and she promptly went outside with a roll of paper towels and tirelessly wiped every drop of water from the tables and chairs for us.

Although very beautiful wine nicely setup, the tables were on top of each other (maybe 3ft away and that's generous). I've been wanting to try Zack's for a while now. My boyfriend and I came here on New Year's Eve and were able to get a indoor table without a reservation.

We started with drinks, a Tin Ceiling and Zack's Drink. To eat we shared appetizers: fried calamari, tempura chicken bites and mac and cheese. We ordered another round of drinks, the Fernet Me Not and Willow Smash.

The cocktails selection was on the smaller side but had an interesting/unique selection. The drinks were pretty good and decorated nicely.

Came here for a date night and food and ambience blew me away. They currently have tikki bar going on with tikki cocktails. Food is lovely, drinks are great and totally loved the hot chocolate brownie in the end. Stuffed chicken is a very good dish and an Italian starter with fries are good in appetizers. They don't have food vegetarian entree options.
** If you book the table - You can only sit 60 minutes indoor on the table. Please do reservation as it gets pretty crowded especially on weekends.
