As you walk through a "speakeasy" entrance, you are welcomed by a charming, authentic and lively atmosphere. The wine list will have you travel through France. The cocktail menu will expose you to a palette of french cordials and the attentioned staff will introduce you to all the daily specials. Wife & husband, Alice Troetto & Mattias Gustafsson both from France, opened Madame Claude Cafe in 2002 and Madame Claude Wine in 2010.
They moved a block away and opened Madame Claude Bis under the White Eagle Theater. It is still a typical Parisian Bistro serving oysters and specialties from all over France, using local produce as much as possible. Madame Claude Bis is open at 100% seating capacity. You now have two possibilities: dinning at the restaurant or outside depending of the weather.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner here back in October, and I am still daydreaming about it. Lovely atmosphere, and food. Our server Natalia was perfect! Just the right amount of friendliness and checking in to make us feel taken care of, but never hovering or interrupting the privacy of our evening.

I had a wonderful dining experience with friends mostly thanks to the ambiance and cocktails, not so much from the food and the service. Service was rocky the entire time, manager didn’t really seem to know what he was doing. Took a while for our first drink order to go in although I saw the manager lingering right by our table, he seemed uncomfortable and unable to pick up on cues from guests when they needed attention.
Food started off on the wrong foot with the bread. The really stale bread. I love to dip it in the escargot sauce but wow not even that sauce could make the bread good. The

I brought my friends here to celebrate my birthday and everything was beyond expectations. The meat is incredible, the duck confit was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, paired with a sweet cranberry sauce. So delicious!
I don't like lamb very much but I tried the lamb shank! OMG! It falls off the bone and it doesn't taste like lamb. Same for the escargot. I had them for the first time and they were sooooo good.
Our server was the best, so friendly and knowledgeable about every item on the menu.
Best experience ever!

Madame Claude was excellent tonight - our first and certainly not our last time here. I love the vibe of this place. Come here before your concert at White Eagle Hall -- it's just around the corner. Highly recommend the french onion soup (a number of people had it at the bar), duck paté dish and the duck confit. Service was good and the cocktails are strong! Will need to come back on a live music night and/or for brunch.

Service: Was very good. Waitress was very attentive, always checking upon us, ensuring we were taken care of. The manager (probably also the owner) also interact personally with the customers.
Ambience: The restaurant had outside seating at street level, but was itself located in the basement. It was very crowded and they have tried to maximize utilization of every space they had. We were provided a table just off the bar, next to the entrance door. The lighting was poor and the room dark.
Food: was okay, ordinary. Nothing that made me smack my lips or made me want to go back and

The ambiance of this little French restaurant is wonderful! Greeted by and sat by the owners, I felt welcomed right away. It IS very cozy, and you'll be sitting tightly close to other patrons, but I didn't mind. They had a few outdoor seating street-side, or in their dimly lit dining room. The menu has some wonderful French options and specials - a little something for everyone. I would say the prices are mid-range. The food itself was good and tasty, but the portions are somewhat small. The wait staff was also attentive and knowledgeable and we had frequent visits by the owner who was in the thick

Beautiful location, AMAZING food, the Coq Au Vin was soft, tasty, juicy with onions and fat chunks of bacon, my mouth is watering just typing this. The strong taste of the salmon mixed with sweet grapes on top of crispy wild rice... I mean, the texture of that plate was an experience in itself. The butter with herbs they use for their escargots, out of this world, dip some fresh French bread in that butter and honestly, enjoy life.

First time dining here. Though we dined outside the inside appeared nicely appointed, dimly lit and suitable for a romantic drink or dinner. Originally intended to dine here because of its suggested speakeasy ambiance.
A lot of fun eating outdoors. Attentive wait service. Excellent food and drink. Hope to check out their weekend brunch.
