We love Komegashi too. It has something for everyone in our family. Whether we are taking out or eating in, this places had not disappointed in proving soul satisfying comfort for. We go on for the vegetarian rolls but also shrimp tempura for my daughter and chicken teriyaki for my wife. We all love the various combinations we can get in the vegetarian rolls including avocado, cucumber, jalapeno and cream cheese.

Komegashi is my favorite Japanese restaurant of all time. The staff is very pleasant and respectful, the sushi is extremely fresh and cooked entrées are very tasty. Some of my favorites are the Katsu Don, Sake Don, Godzilla Roll, and Beef Negamaki. I wish I could give them 10 stars.

Cozy Japanese restaurant in Newport. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Only cons are that they have increased prices over the year while quality seems to have deteriorated.

Food was good and service was adequate. Place has decent views and ambiance.
Items we had:
1. Miso soup (4/5)
2.spicy salmon roll sushi (5/5)
3. Chicken kotsu curry (5/5)
4. Udon noodles with shrimp tempura (3/5) was a little bland and lite on the flavors.
Overall a good experience at a convenient location, would go back.

Unfortunately, this is an edited review, from 5 stars to three, which is me being nice. This sushi place is my go-to, but only if you go in person. I placed a pretty big order for my coworkers and me, and it came without utensils or chopsticks. All the sushi rolls were on the same platter, and they did not even look appetizing, just thrown together. I am all for supporting restaurants in this challenging time we are having due to covid, but you have to do better if you want us to spend our hard-earned money at your restaurant.

This restaurant is very dirty over all at the level you lose your appetite. 日本人は絶対行ってはいけないお店。I found a mushroom on my Udon that was bitten by someone else (they are reusing it😱). Also this restaurant is not operated by Japanese. Very sad since this restaurant used to be great. Probably the owner change happens.

Waiters sometimes ask for tips when there is already gratitude and didnt show up for 5mins,which is quite annoying. Dont want to say something too negative here. After all, this restaurant survived Covid with 20% charge for dine in.

Food is okay. View and music are good so I keep it as two stars.

One of the best spots to enjoy the view with less crowd. I usually go for brunch or lunch, I did go for dinners as well. The service is pretty quick and friendly. The vibe and the food both are great. The price is pretty reasonable for that area.

This place is amazing! Delicious dishes and desserts, and great service. The only thing is I wish they had a little more vegetarian options (even though the ones that I tried were still delicious). Highly recommend the green tea fried ice cream!

Awful. What is this? Guys, it only comes with rice. And fish is small and thin. It should be with a few small side dishes and miso soup or salad. White rice were turned to yellow and dried and unknown fish is paper thin. However, their prices match in East Village. As a Japanese, this dish had reached insult level….

This place is below average. The sushi was terrible, the rolls were falling apart and the quality of the fish not great. I don't recommend and tried this place because I've been looking for go to spots since I've moved to Jersey City, but this is a solid NO for me. Not even worth trying.

Not really authentic.... I ordered Beef Negimaki, consisting of broiled strips of meat marinated in teriyaki sauce and with scallions and tofu. Well, it is just like teriyaki beef. Nothing special.

My friend ordered Katsudon, which is nothing like Katsudon we had in Japan. It is not even crispy.

But the environment is pretty elegant. There are many tropical fishes in the fish tank.

Great location, food, sake selection and staff.
The restaurant is location near Newport path station in Jersey City. It is on the river and most tables have river view. Nearby you have the Jersey City boardwalk with amazing Jersey City views. Candles on each table, quiet noise level make this venue a perfect spot for a date.
The food is very good and the sake selection and price is excellent. I highly recommend it

Adding a vote for the Godzilla, a stunner with a dazzling variety of flavors and textures. But possibly I'm even more surprised by the hijiki cucumber salad. The marinade transforms the shiitake mushrooms and seaweed into something more subtler than usual, while humble cucumber is a fine foil for its sassier neighbors.

I also liked the clam soup. I wanted one tried-and-true item and thus enjoyed the spicy tuna, but you can get that in a lot of places so I think the biggest rewards are on the more experimental offerings.

Komegashi Too is just simply sensational. The atmosphere, the service, the menu. Godzilla Roll was so delicious and unique, but overall every item was just simply terrific. Good selection and wonderful customer service. Liked it and I would recommend it to any of my friends.

The lady who served us was quite rude and took FOREVER to come to our table, even after a party walked in, she went to them first.

We ordered:
- the Tri-Don with salmon, yellow tail, and tuna with the variety of the tobiko. It was definitely beautiful in presentation, but the yellowtail was slightly too fishy for both my friend and I. The salmon though was extremely soft and delicious.
- Spicy Hot Roll - the yellowtail on this was fishy as well and was slightly disappointed that they had a spicy-sriracha like sauce just on the top and not chili oil like what was explained on the menu.

This place makes their sushi with care and everthing tasted fresh. Service was great during lunch rush, but it wasn't crowded. Great spot when visiting near the Newport Mall. Definitely a great spot to meet with an old friend and chat, as the noise level was low and tables respectfully spaced.

A decent Japanese spot. We got sashimi and sushi set for 2 along with some rolls and they were delicious. We also got warm sake and it went well with our food.

I also tried Nabe, which was a hot pot with cooked salmon, mushroom, cabbage, and glass noodle in miso soup. It was flavorful, soothing, and also filling. My friend got their beef udon and although its noodle was chewy and broth was flavorful, I wasn't a fan of the beef as the meat was cooked too much that it didn't have soft texture.

The staffs here were very attentive and the restaurant is actually pretty spacious inside

Really solid sushi spot in jersey city. Sushi is fresh. Prices are adequate. They do charge by piece and not by pair. Only complaint is both times I had the fatty toro and it tasted odd (my friend said the same) so I just stay away from that now there. The mackerel and wild salmon sushi are my favorite. The homemade gyoza is also a must try.
