I had purchased a used high-end road bike and brought to Reed for a checkout/tuneup. Reed spent a lot of time with me, answering all of my questions, and did a great job with my bike in a only a few days. He offered to make any adjustments later after riding as part of the tune up. I can't recommend Matawan Bike Shop enough. They are honest and reasonably priced and will be my new go to bike shop.

My bike was in tough shape. It had a flat in the back and I wasn't sure of I even wanted to keep it. Reed took one look and diagnosed all my issues before I could even tell him. He rotated my handle bars and adjusted the seat. He adjusted my brakes, cleaned it like new and even installed my doggie basket. Once the rear tire was replaced I honestly felt like I had purchased a new bicycle. All this with always a smile on his face. My grown son is tackling a triathlon and needed to up his game by getting a quality bike. Reed helped him get the perfect gently used bike that fit to a T (not easy when you’re 6’3”). He helped with just enough additional gear to keep him comfortable and safe and for an incredibly fair price. Brought in my 2004 Trek 3500 that I had ridden to death and asked Ed to resurrect it for me. UNBELIEVABLE. For half of what it would have cost me to buy a similar new model of the bike, Ed restored my baby to near mint condition. Ed, Kyle and the crew are not just wonderful guys but they are experts. I will never use a different bike shop. MBS 4 Life!

Been going here since the beginning of the year pretty frequently because my bike is always having issues, but Ed and the team are very good at what they do. The shop is also very nice and the folks are always ready to help. Variety of bikes and accesories in the shop. Bike runs like new after a tune-up and pricing is also very reasonable. Overall highly recommend.

Reed assisted us in choosing our new rides. Just looking for a casual bike for both of us and not really needing those high end mountain bikes. Seven speed was suggested and we both got bikes by a brand called Electra. Bikes these days are a small investment, even for a casual rider.
When settling up our bill, I casually mentioned about just getting them to our house. Ed,

I called ahead and told them my mountain bike had a flat and asked if they had 26x2.00 tubes. They said they did so I stopped by and they sold me two 26x1.5-1.75 tubes he promised that they would work for this size tire and that they where thorn resistant. So I said okay and bought them they even helped me throw the first one on. I get out on the trail and after a mile the tire pops right by the valve stem I call them back and head back and show them they said it must be the rim and they don't have the time to look at it. Owner very rude. I dropped my bicycle off for new tires, tune up, and kick stand. Ten days later, I tried calling the bike shop for three days to see if my bike was ready. There was no answer, no answering machine, after letting rings several times, someone would pick up the phone only to hang it up again. I decided to go there to find out was going on. They never even started working on my bike. They said they would fix it then and would call me when it was ready. When I went there the bike was filthy and there was no kick stand on it. When I said the bike was dirty, the owner got very upset.

My poor road bike hasn't seen the light of day for 2 years and was in desperate need of serious attention. I don't have the space to do it myself so I came here bases on local recommendations and great online reviews. Reed and his crew did not disappoint. When I dropped off the bike, I was happy to see that they were busy (always a good sign). Last week, I went in to Matawan Bike Shop with my family for 2 bikes, but we ended up leaving with 4 new bikes!! Reed and his staff were so nice, attentive, helpful and genuine! He had so much patience with us as we picked out bike customs, tried out several bikes, asked thousands of questions, and even changed our minds a few times. We were in there for hours. I love my new bike and I have rode it almost everyday since. Reed is extremely passionate about his business and it shows! You must go here for all your biking needs.

Reed and the crew always keep my bikes tip top. Friendly, nerdy service keeps everything quiet and smooth. Don't hesitate to check this place out and bring your current bikes for tune ups, maintenance and/or upgrades. Very knowledgeable about all things bike, old and new.

Highly recommend this shop!!!! My girlfriend and I bought 2 Trek dualsport hybrid bikes from here along with a bunch of gear (bottle cage, repair kit, helmet, etc). Being newer to biking, the guys at the shop were very patient and helpful in making sure we picked the right bikes. Have since been there 2 times for touch ups / maintenance, which they did for us free of charge. Has a boutique bike shop feel without the boutique prices. So happy we went with these guys instead of going online!

What a great bike shop! Reed and John were terrific, patient and knowledgeable. My daughter and I bought two cruisers here and we couldn't be happier! I had a great bike but when I rode the Townie I fell in love! It's a great ride and the forward pedals are very comfortable. Also the self powered led lights are so cool and handy. My daughter loves the turquoise color and smooth ride. We're satisfied customers and will be back. Highly recommend Matawan Bike Shop!!!
