I had a family ring reset at Shockeys. We wanted to keep the original 100 year old diamond and setting and place it in a wider band. The team at Shockeys worked on this ring until it was perfect.
My son followed in the family tradition, and purchased his engagement ring at Shockey's and it is lovely, We will all continue to shop at this wonderful, downtown Elgin business in the years to come.

I needed my engagement ring sized up and wanted to try a local jewelry shop, particularly one that would do so in house. I ended up choosing Shockey Jewelers, and I'm very happy with the whole experience.
I had a lot of questions about the resizing of my ring, which is white gold with a center stone and small stones along the sides. They answered all of them as well as I could have hoped. They do the resizing in house, they'd cut the ring and insert additional gold to get it to the right size, they could do quarter sizes (not just whole and half), and it would take up to a week

Please avoid at all cost. We recently took in family collections of estate watches to see if they wanted to buy them. They said they would call us the following week. We waited patiently. In the second week I went down to claim them and to see what was going on. They couldn't find them. They looked in the safe, not there. They almost gave me some other person's stuff. They looked in the office couldn't find it. Looked in the back room couldn't find it. They said they had a flood, that everything was topsy-turvy . We got both my engagement ring and wedding band from Shockey Jewelers and they are truly the most beautiful rings I've ever seen! I receive compliments all the time. Peter and his team are amazing to work with. I've had to have mine sized a few times and we also had our bands engraved and they have always been welcoming and easy to work with. I honestly could not recommend this place more! You will not be disappointed.

Terrible customer service. I brought my ring in to be sized and it was estimated to take two weeks. I was told the owner was out of town so my ring was never taken care of. I had to call to ask when my ring was going to be done because I had heard nothing. I was told it would take another two weeks after it had been sitting in the store for two weeks and they did nothing with it. I could not believe how poor the communication was. I picked up my ring untouched because I did not want to give them my business. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!

I lost the diamond out of my engagement ring while I was water skiing. I was understandably upset and called to see if they could help. Pete assured me that they could. I sent him the ring and had it back looking as good as new (if not better!) within two weeks! I couldn't ask for any better customer service. Thanks again for saving me!

I love Shockey! The helped me set my engagement ring. The staff is very kind and attentive. I have since been back to have other jewelry to be repaired. Not an easy task since some of the pieces are rose gold and a lot of jewelers have issues working on it. That is not the case for Shockey, they fixed my Le Vian ring with no issue and the best part is that I can not even see where the work was done. That is talent! Thank you Shockey.

I'm just going to say it. I recently lost my wedding rings. Yes, both of them. It was a horrible situation and it's the worst feeling to loose something that has such sentimental value.
The good news is, we were at least smart enough to have them insured, so after a month passed and I got over the situation, it was time to go looking for a new ring. My husband and I used Shockey's the first time around and they took great care of us. They resized a family heirloom, got us set up with my band, got us all the appraisal info that we needed for insurance and all in all made the experience
