Here at La Maestra Community Health Centers, we are proud to be an agent of change in our community and a medical home to more than 45,000 patients in east, central, and south San Diego County. Since opening in 1990 with one volunteer physician, the organization has grown into a PCMH level III accredited Federally Qualified Health Center with ten locations in underserved communities throughout San Diego County, including school-based clinics and a mobile clinic.

Over 500 staff and dozens of volunteers guide more than 45,000 patients per year to access healthcare and social services, most of whom are immigrants, refugees, homeless and low-income individuals with complex health and wellbeing needs.This year marks a major milestone as we celebrate our 30th anniversary of improving the overall health and wellbeing of the community.
Services
The Pediatric Team is committed to childhood health and comprehensive care for children and adolescents. Comprehensive primary care to women is provided through the organization's Women's Health program. Services include prenatal oral care, prenatal. Throughout the organization's ten dental suites and one mobile medical/dental unit, La Maestra is able to provide comprehensive dental.
The La Maestra Circle of Care is a holistic, solution-based approach to addressing the health and wellbeing needs of diverse emerging communities-because complete wellness requires more than just a trip to the doctor.

Since the first clinic opened in 1990, La Maestra's board and staff recognized that for a patient and family to be healthy, they must have barrier-free access to integrated services including nutritious food, safe affordable housing, job training or continuing education opportunities, and programs that promote wellbeing.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), 90% of La Maestra's Board of Directors are patients served by the health center and are representative of the population served in terms of demographics including race, ethnicity, and gender.

The Board meets monthly to review and approve all aspects of nonprofit operations and board members are passionate about addressing social determinants of health and providing upstream, social service to all clients to improve long term health and wellness for all individuals and families.
La Maestra Family Clinic, Inc., doing business as (dba) La Maestra Community Health Centers is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), Community Benefit organization, and a recognized Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The organization was the first health center in San Diego to receive 330(i) funding to serve public housing residents.

Absolutely a terrible place, I gave it a two stars because the extra star came from the lady doctor who helped me with my eye glasses way back 2 years, she was the only decent person in that building.
Every other people from the staffs were very very bad. I came in because I obviously saw a sign of Covid Testing on the outside with 2 of their mobile medical vans sitting. I walked in and was greeted with "Are you a patient here? Do you have an appointment?"
Next thing I know they told me that something across the street might be opened, and they lied because there was nothing across the

I can never seem to have a good experience when I come here. No one ever seems to want to help you and if they do they never seem to know anything, just make a bunch of calls to supposedly to get an answer for you just to tell you they can't help. Literally the WORST clinic ever! Needs better staff.

Horrible service!!! For the women's clinic the front desk agents are beyond, rude everytime I'm there they're being rude to someone especially to the elderly. If they don't like their job then quit! Never returning back.

From the beginning it seems to be bad experience, I called them multiple times and no answer. In different times. I called the connector and she immediately told me I will refer you even when I told her no one answer, and the same thing,no one answered.

You would think because of Covid this clinic will be cleaning and sanitizing and keeping everyone 6ft apart! but no space is limited it's crowded, you have kid sections next to the adults that can be sick with who knows what .. people are right next to each other coughing , sneezing right by you also why ask us to make an appointment and be there 15 mins early if we are gonna end up waiting more than 3 hrs it's ridiculous!! staff is not organized sometimes on the phone or talking to each other not working at all while there is people waiting in lines!! when you do get called they are

I would give this place a negative if I could today my mom had an appointment at 10 and told us to be there at 9:45and I checked in at 9:30 and waited for three hours and the front girls kept saying she will be called next and lastly at 11:30 when I asked they said they are running late and didn't give let me know until I asked all people after me were coming in and out and we were waiting three hours worse service and worse staff in the front

I highly recommend this place is for the doctors or a very professional and they're very helpful I like it because they have a family practice a child doctor dentist eye doctor a chiropractor a walk-in doctor if you're sick without an appointment you see them the same day they also have like an x-ray barrier for mammograms and broken bones any kind of thing they have a dentist office downtown and an in the building pharmacy I don't like the pharmacy that much if they take two or three hours just to get your prescription ready so instead of going there I just go to Walgreens instead

I came here to get a referral to see an ear specialist because I’ve been having problems with my ears for a while now, just to have them tell me they don’t see anything wrong and asked me if I had any allergies, I said no. And they prescribed me allergy medication with a NASAL spray. I had no email or any contact whatsoever about my follow up appointment. Just a piece of paper I misplaced. When they called and asked if I wanted to reschedule I said no I just want a referral to see a specialist and the woman on the phone said she was confused and asked if I wanted to reschedule, I again said

It's just bad I don't want to come here anymore poorly trained front desk and bad communication. Last time didn't send specimens for order this time refused to give me my inhaler refills though I just picked up refills last month saying expired but I just had appt w provider a week ago. Sent me for covid testing at some other place cause no openings that day and then when I cleared and called back refused to set me an appt for a dr saying I had to get tested with them still which I cancelled cause I said I got tested n waiting for results so I can set appt w them for dr. This location was absolutely horrible. No one was sanitizing their hands, changing gloves or washing their hands often. My significant other was with me and he was getting dirty looks from the staff. They treated him with no respect at all. This location needs new staff IMMEDIATELY! Treat others with respect and try to be more understanding. You work in the medical field wash ur hands.

DO NOT GO HERE. RUN. Updating my review for this horrendous place.
Went there yesterday for a dentist appointment and the receptionist was rude and acted like she had better things to do. Was taken back for X-rays and the technician was rude and impatient. He told me I needed to stop gagging and get it over with. Completely unprofessional. He kept sighing impatiently and you could clearly tell he didn't want to be there. The actual dentist was the rudest out of all of them. What happened to bed side manners?! He said "your teeth are disgusting you need a lot of work" I've had

This place is the worst I had a appointment for dental and I waited for a hour and still when I told them how much more they said 20-30 mins. I don’t get what’s the point of making an appointment if they are not going to get you in at the time. This is not the first time I had to wait but this time they overdid it with the time 15 to 20 mins it’s okay I’ll understand but more then that no. Then when you tell them what’s your problem they don’t care and just give you attitude.

Just wanted to say first and foremost to Sylvia and doctor Wilson thank you from the bottom of my heart fro taking care of me on 9/16/2020. Your professionalism and customer service was 200% percent. No one respect the value of your time in here, not the doctors nor other staff. Waited for more than one hour the provider didn't show up. Just heard the doctor is alitle behind. If the patient come late more than 10 minutes late they cancel the appointment but they waited me for almost 70 minutes.

This place is horrible and staffed by uncaring and unqualified people. When having a mental crisis, they deny their patients and hang up the phone. And don't have Erin as your therapist, because she would rather you die then get help.

In fact, they promise help but then drop the ball. This place shows how racist and lowered the minorities.

I also don't understand why Erin keeps telling Elvis Toledo that she loves him. Odd...

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. Don't waste your time coming here. My mom switched here and I wish I would've read reviews before having her switch over. Checked in 15 mins before the appointment and they called me in 50MINS later. I had to go up to the desk and ask why the wait was so long. It wasn't until I asked and a few minutes later someone came to get us. When they are busy they put you in a room check your vitals only to have you go back and wait in the lobby for a room. Once they have you in the room your waiting another 15 mins for the doctor to come and see

I get to dentist office with appointment scheduled at a specific time and had to wait over hour to get seen. Then I was led to room where they had me waiting then realized that room didn't have proper equipment. I got moved again Dentist comes over and starts going to work with drill on my teeth. Prior to cleaning I had no pain in my tooth. First tooth she cleans and pain was unbearable I flinched. They are good doctors who are very nice but the front desk lady at the bottom floor was this big fat lady who was extremely rude. I paid for some tests to be done and haven't gone back in a year because I didn't like her at all. I only asked her in a nice tone I had a question and she shrugged her shoulders and shakes her head rolling her eyes. I still nicely asked what floor do I go to, to get my tests results? She said second floor. Didn't like her attitude at all.

Only 30 min being at the pharmacy and 3 people went ahead in line. Instead of the people helping telling them to get back into line they say it's okay to get in front of us. They customers said that the people working there told them to go back after 10 min. I was told the same thing but I still got in line. Obviously by telling people that it's okay for them to go in front front of everyone customers are going to think it's okay. It's the techs fault not the people.
I Would give them zero stars because I waited in line and try to tell the other people getting ahead of others

I encountered one of their drivers on August 7th, at approximately 12 noon, on the 805 South.  The license plate is 7UBU463.  It is a charcoal grey Dodge Caravan with La Maestra logos all over it.  The driver was tailgating me and then weaved in and out of traffic.  I had to speed up to 95mph just to catch up and take the picture.  Even with me driving 95mph, the driver was gaining distance on me, so they had to be driving at least 100mph.

The driver must have noticed I was taking a picture, so they slowed down and jumped into slower lanes.  When I was exiting Olympic, the driver sped up
