The Kiwi Country Day Camp that we know and love today, was opened in 1952 by Lou and H Bellotto as Camp Kiwi. Lou was a teacher with an MA from Georgetown University and H had a business background. When the property was purchased, it was a sprawling farm with just two small buildings on it.
Even though many did not understand what they were doing, Lou and H could see the glorious potential and decided to open their first season with just 9 campers!H worked behind the scenes while Lou was the face of Kiwi. Lou's energetic and uplifting morning camp assemblies were the highlight to the start of each camp day.

Our TEAM members are the heart and soul of Kiwi Country Day Camp and they are 100% committed to helping our campers build life skills, forge lasting friendships and provide them with the best summer camp experience. It is their dedication, energy and talent that inspire our campers to be all that they can be!
Kiwi Country Day Camp is committed to the individual impact and well being of each camper. Focusing on key developmental assets provides campers an opportunity to thrive at camp and beyond. At Kiwi Country Day Camp, we place a strong emphasis on a child's inner growth and development. One way we support this is through our KCDC Friendship High Five values curriculum.
The KCDC Leadership TEAM is a dedicated and experienced group of individuals that work tirelessly throughout the year and during the summer so that our campers' experience will be positive, safe and successful. The Leadership TEAM also mentors and supervises our TEAM prior to and throughout the camp season.
Our TEAM members are mature, dedicated and passionate individuals who are positive role models and mentors for our campers. All KCDC TEAM members undergo a full criminal background check, and personal references are required and carefully checked. Our counselors and specialists are managed and coached by members of our Leadership TEAM.

I encountered the most obnoxious employee at the front gate asked her a question as to where I drop off.. she didn’t answer me ..I was dropping my daughter off so I pull forward and she starts screaming at me to stop…didnt give any direction or even try and be cordial…was talking to me like I was a child!! She Was very confrontational .. told me I should speak up ..she did not hear me with my question.. why is that my fault? You see someone pulling in and don’t think to answer them!!!! I wouldn’t send my kid here with such an obnoxious individual!!! There’s plenty more camps and cheaper

Ive been going to this summer camp since I was three. As you grow older, many things that you love start to age, decay, and you lose interest. And yet Kiwi, throughout all my life, has never gotten old, not when I went to pre-school here at 3 years old, and not today as I become a CIT. With beautiful grounds, wonderful activities for all ages, and great staff, as a wise man once said, “This camp is making me awesome!”
My only issue is the drastically underpaid staff. These counselors come back and work so hard to make our summers special, and yet they earn 3-4 dollar an hour for their work

Shout out to the life guard that saved me from drowning in/around 2002...I was 12. My friend convinced me to jump off the diving board even though I couldn't swim and to make matters worse, I kept my face mask on. It scarred me so bad, I still can't swim very well. Anyway. Thanks Kiwi Day Camp and life guard guy.

Loved the camp. Great grounds and tons of activities. Agree with some other reviews of the young campers but that is status quo for other camps too. Staff for summer employment that can keep up with children all day is logically a young student home for the summer from college or in their senior year of HS. Great facilities. Very expensive versus a town camp, but also vastly more activities. They even bring a full carnival to camp with rides and all. Truly an experience for the children.

The grounds are beautiful but the counselors are all children themselves. Very young adults/teens are left in charge of small children with minimal (no) other supervision. Older campers often wander around and can often be too rowdy to allow the little ones in the pool. Ivan Bellotto has a tremendous anger problem, so it surprises me that he chooses to work in this child-friendly environment. It's clear that he attempts to rule by intimidation. All in all, it's a stunning camp that can operate much better.
