Family owned and operated, Cardinal Point Vineyard and Winery lies in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge, in the shadow of Afton Mountain. Years ago, while stationed in the small city of Bad Kreuznach, Germany on the banks of the Nahe River, Paul and Ruth Gorman discovered a passion for the Riesling wines that were crafted with care in the little vineyards surrounding the town.
A renovated 19th century gem, the Cardinal Point Farmhouse is located above our winery in Afton, VA, and has impressive and unimpeded views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Please call 540-456-8400 to make your reservations. Reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis, and will be held for 20 minutes after your reservation time.
The "Co-op" provides you with automatic wine shipments, complimentary winery visits and event passes, significant discounts, and many exclusive benefits. As a member of the Co-op, you have a true share in Cardinal Point with closer access to our winery and winemaker, Tim Gorman. Tim is one of the first winemakers, and more experienced growers, in the now well-established Virginia wine industry.

Hidden at the top of the property, surrounded by our vineyards, the Farmhouse venue offers striking views of the property below, and the stunning blue ridge mountains above.

Great winery - definitely the best that we went to today. Service was quick considering they were packed. Loved the rose even though I am a red lover. Maybe a bit sweeter than typical roses, but it balanced more than the typical tinny taste of a white. All of their wines are on my drink in the future list- which I can definitely say isn't true for the other four wineries I visited the same day.

Reat winery in a beautiful location with PLENTY of space indoors/outdoors for many activities, lots of parking :)
It had been a while since our first initial visit so we decided to revisit Cardinal Point since we were nearby in Charlottesville. Our wine tasting was great and done by the knowledgeable Luca involving some tasty whites and reds (and I mainly gravitate to only reds). The hopped Chardonnay was very flavorful as well as the petit verdot and cab franc.
We enjoyed meeting some new folks there while tasting and playing with the winery pooch. Thanks for another great visit and the chocolates
